Call to action: No Microtransactions this January

I'm posting this here because most of you aren't assholes and I've gotten some positive interactions from this community.

We need to take action. We need to prove we are in fact a "community" and not just a collection of idiots that will suck up all of the nonsense publishers heap upon us.

They've gotten way too aggressive with the monitization of games this year and it needs to stop. We need to send a message.

I'm calling for anyone within this sub to not buy a single microtransaction/DLC/loot box this January. For exactly one month we buy nothing. If you have Star Wars Battlefront 2, Shadow of War, Forza or any of the other high profile releases. Come February, buy whatever you want but it will be interesting to see how your gaming experience changes without the extras. Can you still enjoy it?

Game companies need to understand that we want quality products not greedy tactics. If even 1,000 of you do this it will be a step in the right direction.

If you say no or it's too much trouble then know that you are very much part of the problem. Join us in a moment of solidarity for your fellow gamers and simply forgo abusive DLC/microtransaction practices for one month. Show them that we can't be pushed further than this. Because if you don't, it's already too late.

The fuck is this Reddit shit? I'm already buying fucking nothing

Edit: In response to the "it won't make a difference and the "we are just the vocal minority" responses, that is exactly the type of defeatist attitude that publishers are counting on. The vocal minority had made many changes in the world and this is not insurmountable. Tell the people on your friends list. Tell the people you work with. Tell the silent majority that we are trying to look out for the, let's be honest, future of gaming. If you think you can't make a difference, guess what, you can't. You won't and you can't. Be a community, take a stand and don't ever let anyone tell you that you can't do something.

I was right, it is fucking Reddit shit and easily googlable. Op get the fuck out.

Fucking this. Ive never bought any dlc or microtranshit ever. Never fucking will. Fuck you OP you gigantic faggot.

Who are you to try to tell me what I should buy? I’ll buy extra micro transactions just to spite you. Worry about yourself.

Nice reddit pasta, but you don't need to try and evangelize this shit here.
Like 70% of this board pirates fucking everything regardless and the rest are too busy arguing about frames and exclusives to actually pay for new games.

Oh no. Other people wasting their money, my only weakness!

but it's funny

Loki best frame

>We need to take action!!
>enters card number

yeah pressing ctrl+v is so time consuming

This faggot got lost on the way to reddit

Man, this whole "Mircotransactions in paid video games" thing sure blew up. People thought they could get away with it because CSGO, but what they forgot is that CSGO is basically 15 bucks.

Games cost 60$ since forever. An NES game in 1990 cost around $50. For N64 $70, in 1998. $50 PlayStation 2 in 2005.

Today’s game are costlier to make and we’re demanding more and more features. We should expect to pay more one way or another. So they’re using micro transactions as a way to gain more money. Or they could stop with it and charge us $80 for a standard version and $110$ for Deluxe versions.

Inflation people.

with day 1 dlc and season passes you're not even getting the full experience you shill shit

shadow of mordor with full dlc is over $100. Fuck outta here with this $60 bullshit.

I'll pay $60 for a game when they start making games worth that much again.

pm'd you

Too late, faggot. You're way too late for any of that. Maybe if you did it 7 years ago when this shit was starting. Even if every single person on Sup Forums bought absolutely nothing, it would have NO effect on ANY game ever. Sup Forums is too small of a group to dictate any sort of anything. period.
Give it up, you fucked up and bought in for years, now you're mad it's getting more popular, and less optional. That's your only fault.

DLC should be PAID for, you entitled pricks. People worked hard on that content. Wanting MORE free shit in a non-essential industry forces the devs to work in worse and worse conditions, ffs.

As for the game boxes, you DON'T have to purchase them. Just play the fracking game. Shadow of War is GREAT. Star Wars Battlefront 2 is shaping up to be a GREAT game.

Go shove your entitlement up your ass.
