Nah they can dish out a lot of dage with Protean and Fortitude makes them nearly invincible. The only issue is the attack animation sucks during Protean use so you have to do one or two attacks then wait for the combo to reset, otherwise the last hit in the combo just misses every time.

One of my favourite moments in the game was when you get back from the museum, and LaCroix delivers his pretentious little speech about "the folly of leadership," and then you tell him that the sarcophagus is stolen and he fucking loses it, then he just stops and almost collapses. "Gary. Gary, you treasonous maggot." Then "I want him found, I want him...! Found." That slimy fuck sounded like he ate his fucking liver.

Fortitude makes them pretty much invulnerable, but skip Protean. Melee weapons are much better.

Malk as long as you didn't do a stealthy ninja character the first time round otherwise it will be kind of boring as you may or may not appreciate the Malk dialogue.

I started playing with Histories on and even though it doesn't come up its nice to have some RPG flair to go along with the game

I ONLY say Brujah for the sole purpose of the Anarch ending being one of the most satisfying ones. Personally I would stay Tremere for a later play through as there are some nuances to dialogues and options available to you. Also while not so satisfying a certain ending makes perfect sense for one.

Getting the Cammy ending as a Tremere was the best moment of the game for me. I spent the entire playthrough wishing my man Max would usurp the Jester Prince.

From what I understand, Brujah is also better for more straightforward combat which seems ot be important for a first playthrough

Strauss is incompetent, he sits on his ass doing nothing and the one thing he's shown to have done was a giant fuckup that you have to clean up for him. He's a worse than useless nerd who had to move to a city without other Tremere to become the top of a chantry, and couldn't even outmaneuver LaCroix until LaCroix allied with the Sabbat and Kuei-jin and tried to diablerize an Antediluvian, and even then he needed the PC to do all the work. At least LaCroix had the excuse of being a lying scheming fuck without the choice to use anyone relevant, but Strauss couldn't mobilize sufficient opposition even after LaCroix had fucked up enough to write a new chapter in the book of giant fuckups.

Auspex makes you a god with firearms
Presence shuts down all your enemies

Brujah is number 2 because auspex is better than potence, because firearms are better than melee

Auspex helps with ranged. Celerity + melee is at least as strong as celerity + potence, in that Celerity 4 or 5 makes you win any melee fight easily. They should be tied though, because Celerity makes both ranged and melee trivial, no other disciples matter.

Lasombra have a few ways of doing it. Arms Of The Abyss to basically shadowfuck them to death, or Shadow Parasite to make the abyss grow inside of someone and erupt out.

I'd honestly do it the other way round- Revised is mostly a better made 1st ed, with few real changes
If you're into lore, a lot of V20 books are just about lore, and you can also read the "Guide to the Camarilla/Sabbat"
