Its a decent amount of games for an early console even given the listing of sequels, remakes, and multiplats.

However, same with the WiiU its a decent library, but only when you count everything. I still will say Switch and the WiiU have more game than their competitors that are worth a shit.

And that is what kills it for me with these last couple of generations. If you aren't into every genre out there, consoles just don't have enough on their own now. When you look back at NES, SNES, or PS1 there were more console selling titles in each genre than there are in every genre combined these days. This doesn't just go for Nintendo either.

That to me is the real bitch of the situation even as someone who plays most game genres.

As a console seller you need exclusives as much as I hate the concept as its just hostage games instead selling the product on its own merits. To keep people wanting your device you need 3rd party. So yes you need both and you need a good amount of both.

In general I agree with you and it's pleasant to see that Mario doesn't seem to be doing DLC for Odyssey.

But then there's shit like amiibo and Fire Emblem so...sometimes they do it fine.

It’s just a fact. Take BOTW - $20 for both DLC packs. One challenge pack, weapons and features the other new story content. MK was like, $11-22 for all of it.
Now look at the new south park which is just about $200 for all the content which is significantly less than content than BOTW.

Doom will be worse than Skyrim, I really think the fps will hurt it. Skyrim will be compromised, but also it's Skyrim, an old ass game and I can see legitimate appeal to having it on the go.

I'm glad they are getting some third party, but terribly. It doesn't have the horsepower to run either well. FPS, particularly ones with a PC pedigree really don't belong on a console. It takes all the balls out of it and makes it clunky, this goes for the other console versions but less power is just going to make it ugly and sluggish instead of just sluggish.

TES is really only worth it as an RPG with mods, its pretty bland otherwise, but I will say a tablet may help in place of a mouse for an RPG for the general inventory fuckery you need in a decent RPG. I kinda think Nintendo is getting used to remind people Skyrim is a thing and squeeze a few more sales out of it while they stall for their next title. I guess Nintendo is using them too to say hey look we do have other games that aren't just ours in turn though.

Realistically I see third party support being waive around with an us too flag and I just feel its going to die off. They did this with Epic Mickey/Mad World/etc on the Wii early one and Bayo/Batman on the WiiU and it only resulted in a few titles. I see this happening again.

I would be happy to be wrong both for current Switch owners and as likely the only console I may consider, but I don't think it will go well.
