I still can't believe after all these years we got a true sequel to Sonic 3 and Knuckles, and it was made by a bunch of Sonic ROMhackers paid by Sega

Like it was going to happen any other way. Remember ST allowed 4 to exist in the first place.

I still can't believe it was made by the guy who made my favorite childhood Sonic fangame.

I'll never forget

Personally I'd like a true sequel with no corporate meddling and original levels.

Quit shoving Chemical Plant down our throats, Sega. Granted, Act 2 was goat.

I still hold hope that's what Mania 2 is gonna be. They've tested the waters, there's interest in real 2D Sonic and the team's proven themselves

Not until I hear at least one remixed MJ track from 3 or get Icecap Zone.

Wasnt the game only going to be remixed levels until sega told them to do half remix and half new.

The game was going to be the bundled IOS versions of sonic 1 and 2 ported to PC with a few new stages as a bonus.
Personally I think they made the right choice even if I really want the definitive versions of the first two games on PC without emulating a fucking phone.

I'm assuming whenever they get around to doing 3&K, they'll do a collection of 1, 2, 3, K, and CD for consoles and Steam

>implying a remake of S3&K will ever happen
There's already a proof of concept and Sega turned it down.
Something about music rights probably, but I wouldn't get your hopes up.

Music rights have never been a problem before now in getting Sonic 3 on other platforms, and it's not like it'd be hard to replace Michael Jackson's tracks with music that already exists from Sonic & Knuckles and the PC collection.

Not that I would ever be okay with that happening, but Sega has options

I liked the Sonic and Knuckles Collection music for PC more

>He doesn't like the best track in Sonic 3

>true sequel
>half the game is recycled
no.
they need to make a mania 2 that is 100% original

I liked the menacing music

I want to slaughter the devs of sonic 4. What the fuck was wrong with them? Did they even play it? was it too late to go back? was the engine they used incapable of emulating the physics or feel of the originals?

You would have to have no understanding of what made the originals fun to play to have made sonic 4 that way. Shameful attempt.

That sounds better than the Genesis version of that track at least. Never thought I'd prefer MIDI to the Genesis synthesizer.

>true sequel to Sonic 3 and Knuckles
it was more of a remix celebration title and then 4 new zones as a big bonus.

still, its a lot better than what generations brought us.

It was a budget ios game that they hastily rebranded as sonic 4 to bait people into buying it.
You can still see sonic the portable written on an object in the background on the casino stage if I remember correctly.

>It was a budget ios game that they hastily rebranded as sonic 4 to bait people into buying it.

Stop reminding me

how is it a sequel when the majority of the levels are just rehashes? I went on a media blackout for this game and assumed it was an actual original game and was servery disappointed to find out it's just some rom hack.

>A true Sequel
>half of the game is ripped from previous games

confirmed for never playing it then.
The only thing "rehashed" is level aesthetics.

oh ya, and if you're going to just make a bunch of remixed levels, why not actually try using some more underappreciated ones instead of fucking green hill zone, chemical plant zone and all that shit that has been overdone.

For example, instead of green hill zone, why not use botanic base? Chaotix's greatest weakness was the level design so now you have a chance to actually make a well designed zone. Also, why not try using Rusty Ruin or something from 3d blast and translate it to 2d sonic gameplay?

Seriously no imagination went into this project.

A man of taste.

>Sonic 4 should have been Sonic Android like it was supposed to
>Sega" no, release it everywhere, unpolished, no time left. and call it Sonic 4 because that will sell more and will obviously not backfire us.."
>Sega:"oh, fuck"

Funny, because that feels like an android game and the gameplay was okay. Just not like a classic feel, but another Sonic with a different 2d gameplay.
