Yes and no

there's actual gameplay involved with the combat (Certain characters have combos and moves that can only be performed in sequences, incentivises using the input commands over keybinding everything). However it will get extremely repetitive if you're looking to progress, after hitting level 50 your progres towards levelling screeches to a halt.

While that might be fine if you took your time with it and didn't overdo yourself, the game pushes you to play frequently with daily logins and certain bonuses that will run out even while you're offline.

Once you log into the game you also only get 1 month of access to the Olvia servers (a beginner friendly area where you get extra XP)

Every time I have tried getting back into the game I end up plowing through shit in a week or two then feeling burnt out.

Its the best sandbox MMO on the market and easily has the best combat but there are some design problems in place and the cash shop has stuff that gives you an ingame advantage even if its not fully pay to win

should i play this or guild wars 2 if i'm craving getting back into an MMO?

No, it is a 5/10 mmo

The questing system is a korean grindfest (kill 10 come back with 10 pelts)
The quest themselves make no sense in the world and grand scheme of the almost non existent story

As for the combat, any ranged class feels alright
You can dodge projectiles and do flips everywhere while lobbing magic and arrows
As for melee classes, its a nightmare
You feel floaty as you slide around with weightless feeling weapons

The only thing this game has going for it is the character customization page. Its very revolutionary and detailed

Are you willing to drop $100 to have the basic necessities from the pearl shop? (4pets, value pack, weight/maids)

Do you expect there to be any PvE end-game?

Are you okay with the PvP end-game being a huge desync lag fest of spamming AOE spells or being useless?

Are you okay with dying in every PvP encounter you face until you're 3+ months into the game and have at least ~200 AP w/ accuracy?

Are you okay with feeling forced to keep your game on 24/7 in order to make AFK money? (This involves spending more $ on the pearl shop)

Do you enjoy killing the same mobs for 8+ hours a day for months at a time in order to level?

If you're fine with all that, the game is okay. It has a pretty great "crafting" system and 1v1 PvP can be a blast when evenly matched (As I said earlier, it's not going to happen for many months as a new player)

Just to explain, the mobs may as well have no AI. They aggro, they walk, they attack. Never do they feel interesting or tricky. The combat's combo system is great, and you could do some cool shit.
But it still feels more like a mousou game.
Not to mention, PvP can be too laggy for strategic combat.
