Fable 1 or just the fable series? The only one I've played is Fable 3.

1 and 2 do, I think 3 slightly does but the whole leveling system in 3 is fucked.

Is 3 good in general compared to 1 and 2? I had an "okay" time with it but it was overall just meh.

Nearly everything about fable 3 is worse than the other games, from the way you interact with villagers, to the gear, to the character customization, to even the map screen. Play the "The Lost Chapters" version of 1, not the original release or anniversary. if you have a 360 then try 2.

A lot of people prefer 1 for the magic mechanics and story. A lot of other people prefer 2 for the improved world mechanics, being able to play a female, and greater customization of the hero. Pretty much everyone agrees that 3 shit the bed with the terrible menu system being a series of rooms, the plot pacing being retarded, and even further simplifying the combat.

It's a good idea to just completely disregard the features that were supposed to be in each game according to Molyneux, because that fucker just made up ridiculous bullshit every time.

Most comic artists don't understand function is more important than form, and give characters silly proportions to emphasize things.

In Sims 3 I've noticed my relatively skinny character getting more toned and somewhat larger, but that was around 8 Athletic.

Fable 1 and 2 are pretty flawed games, but they're enjoyable enough and can be pretty endearing if you let yourself get absorbed in them. The first game has a really magical dreamlike quality to the world, it actually does play out like a fable or a fairy tale in a lot of ways. Fable 2 simplifies the gameplay down, but does a really good job of feeling like the world is bigger than just what you've seen in the games; it tugs at your nostalgia for the first game while simultaneously setting up some deliberately unanswered plot threads that hint at something larger going on.

Fable 3 took a dump on all of that by completely ignoring every interesting plot point from the previous games while simplifying the gameplay mechanics even further down to literal retard tier. It's basically shit in every regard.
