What would you define as "what this game did right?" I think the best part of this game is that it appeals to casuals and competitive idiots like myself. I can play one on one against my better friends with items off and have a good time, then switch to four player items on free for all on Temple when more people show up and still have fun. Smash 4 was still pretty fun with a large group - I played a lot of 8 player last year in college - but it wasn't as fun to practice up since the payoff wasn't as good.

I'm alright I guess, haven't been to tournaments in a while but I had a good string of top 3s last year at the nearby locals which pulled a consistent 25-30 people. I just stopped going because it became like a second job for me.

I think I beat my friends because they're too concerned with practicing tech skill and not outplaying the other person. Peach doesn't require much tech skill, I just need to warm up float cancels and I'm good to go. My friends all play spacies and I'm convinced they practice multishines all day, which is cool but won't help you win unless you're already good at the game.
