How bad is it?

How bad is it?

>all boss fights are shit
>dumb ai
>campsites instead of actual military bases
>”play however you want” mantra but you will still get penalized for trying be rambo
>it’s so obvious but the story is really lacking
>excessive amount of same mission structure
>FOB invasions are not that fun
>repeated missions
>forced sad moments on soldiers you never cared to begin with

It was okay. Just a little lacking. It could’ve been amazing if they wasted more money and time. Konami probably decided to cut their loses and just let the game go out into the world.

Not bad at all with mods

Very

>campsites
Those are checkpoints. The game centers around occupations, which are made up of checkpoints and garrisons.

the entire first part is fun, so is the second allegedly
but since I'm a story fag I couldn't keep up ):

also this
but I think its sound too harsh for what the game kinda actually is

...

Not bad at all.
It honestly depends on your expectations.
If you expect a 12 hour linear experience where dialogue and cutscenes are padded to all hell with useless exposition, you're gonna be disappointed.

Fake as fuck.

>all boss fights are shit
I like Volgin fight and the first encounter with Sahelanthropus

it's very flawed but i still think it's great

>The game centers around occupations, which are made up of checkpoints and garrisons.
huh? is that what supposed to be a theme for this game?

God dammit

it's fake, retard

how do you know, there's also no proof that it's not fake

>we could've had a final chapter where we infiltrate Outer Heaven as Solid Snake.

It's fantastic

also wanna know why you think it's fake

I guess if you wanna be philosophical, sure. I'm more talking about how the two maps are set up. In each of them some kind of super power is occupying the map. Russians in Afghanistan and the PMCs in Africa. Those little "campsites" like you called them are known as checkpoints and are sprinkled along main roads in occupied locations. Its so people can't move around freely without the occupational forces knowing about it. The bigger bases are garrisons which are basically impromptu fortifications. You noticed how most of them were things like airports, old ruined buildings, and oil fields ya know? When you occupy a location, you can't really start building brand new structures with ease so you gotta just fortify what you've got on hand. This is just a response to the campsite comment. Everything else you said was pretty much on point, tho.

not him, but everything he said sounded like more of the same fan speculation that we've had around here since it came out two years ago. One thing the guy said about it supposedly having five chapters before Konami rushed it out sounded fucking absurd. It took them three years or more to make the fucking thing where it is now. Imagine how long it would take if they wanted THREE more chapters. Jesus Christ it might not even be out yet. I'd be content with just one more. Or at least a real final chapter including that stuff about the island full of child soldiers.

It's a great game. The gameplay and the soundtrack is stellar. Its only flaw is that it was too ambitious.

Somebody spoiled the big twist for me, is it worth playing anymore

Stop reminding me, fuck

The volgin fight sucked because the water gun doesn't do anything against him.
I felt like such a clever bastard for about 5 seconds and then it took everything away from me.

I think you could have seen it from miles

Yeah, just do the story missions and ignore, for the most part, the side ops. There's like 150 and they all play out the same.

The gameplay is entertaining for a while but, eventually you realise how repetitive it is. During this time you'll also be wondering when the fuck the story is actually going to pick up and finally hit you but, it never really does that.

The story is possibly the most disappointing aspect of the entire game, given it was meant to tie up Big Boss's plot and show us how he became the monster we all know.

Miller was the best part of MGSV and the only character who seemed to actually be affected by the loss of Mother Base.

the gameplay is good, there's just nothing to do

>those smooth as fuck controls
Wish it had an ending.

lol i did them all

i completed MGSVTPP 100%. Driving around in afghanistan is just so god damn comfy

Depends.
Do you like doing the same mission over and over again because some crackhead in your R&D team insists that it takes six whole trailer-loads of flowers to make six gas grenades? Do you think walking across barren desert is more fun than using a menu to travel from area to area? Did you hate the teams of implausibly unique special forces members that have been a staple of the series since MSX? Do you hate sitting through a story and wish you could just go straight to the next mission's objectives?

If you answered "Yes" to all of these, you're going to love this game.

But that would be just fanservice. It would have nothing to do with the game's narrative.

Me too, but I won't ever do it again.

It did.
The Eli shit takes place before the ending.

bump

>Its only flaw is that it was too ambitious.
Elaborate

I'm currently enjoying it, but those side missions like "save person, number 27" and "kill person y, number 20" get repetetive. At the beginning I thought it was alright because you'd also get to know the places better but as I said some stuff got used too often.

its just something for you to do in free roam

It would have been amazing if Konami didn't pull the plug, gameplay is great but the story has a lot of unresolved threads and no "real" ending, the ending felt more like a mid point leading up to the big climax.

>WOLBACHIA
>COPULATION
>VOCAL CORD PARASITES
>TURN MALE TO FEMALE
>IMPREGNATE THE LUNGS AND THROAT
>THE IMPREGNATION OF THE LARYNX
>LAYING EGGS INSIDE THE THROAT
>MIND CONTROL
>EXPULSION OF THE BACTERIA INSIDE THE VICTIM'S CAVITY
>FEMALE ON FEMALE COPULATION
>NUMEROUS STRAINS
>THEY GAVE US VOICE NOW THE TAKE IT BACK

It's not kind of story content you'd want to pay money for. Fuck Kojima.

The development team bit of more than they could chew. I mean, 45 hours of story mode gameplay in an open world setting and 2 completely separate multiplayer modes? And consider the amount of detail put into the maps, not to mention all the customization and upgrade systems. It's just way too much, they spread themselves too thin which culminated in the showdown with Eli being left out.

>because the water gun doesn't do anything against him.
But it does, it stuns him and allows you to run around

This.
Disregarding mission 51 and all that shit, it's pretty clear originally the game was going to be very different from the trailers and promotion.
Given the timing of Kojima's fall out with Konami and the game's release date, it's pretty clear they just had to stop about 2/3 of the way in and just wrap everything up as best they could with a plot that sort of made sense just about

>got 100%
>installed some mods
>one added 50 new side ops
>almost all of them are better than the ones in the base game

A Hideo Kojima Game?

>HAMBURGERS

mind posting some good mods?

can i get mods through Steam?

20 Soldiers in a single small base/outpost

>it's pretty clear originally the game was going to be very different

what? no... everything in the trailer is in the game

Do enjoy being a raging buzzkill

Here's a starting point.
But it's pretty clear from the tone and message of the trailers that the plot back then was totally different.
If you watch the 2013 and 2014 trailers other than the locations and some clips from cutscenes that are the same it could almost be a trailer for a different game plotwise

I got that mod too, love how every single modded side op has a little of unique flavour text giving them a backstory and explaining what you have to do, something Kojambo never bothered with because you can just cheese them all with D-dog and get them done in 2 minutes.

irony

But who would voice Solid?

dude, this was supposed to be the last mgs game

>But it's pretty clear from the tone and message of the trailers that the plot back then was totally different.

uhh, no it isn't

Simple, he was intentionally misdirecting.
He wanted to do another MGS2 ebin twist and failed miserably.

no, MGS4 was the last MGS game.

MGSV was an operations game

Hayter of course.

ok

You're a pleb

The first half is great, second half falls off hard, then shoots back up to greatness then falls off a cliff and you're left feeling empty.

Nigger it's literally the same thing. We were shown entire scenes even back then. How fucking stupid can you be?

>second half
Would you call the last chapter of Peace Walker "second half" as well? Retard, it's an epilogue.

It doesn't even feel like a Metal Gear game, it has no identity. It fell for the uninspired open world meme and thought that was enough to carry the game.

Designers have no fucking excuse to be making worlds as uninspired and copy pasted as they are in today's age, yet it keeps happening, I'm almost at a loss for words with this shit. They have such great tools to do whatever the fuck they want, yet they still opt to go for the copy pasted, empty space, big, boring and lifeless worlds.

Just think about how much more character there was to the setting of even fucking the middle east in mgs4, MGS1 from 1998 is more expressive in terms of art design.

There's a billion issues with the game, story, mission design, pacing, filler.. whatever, the fact they couldn't even create an interesting setting is kind of sad, that could have at least made the game engaging to revisit if it felt like there was something to its world.

It's actuall quite g-

>It doesn't even feel like a Metal Gear game
retard
It doesn't have to, nor does it try to.

i put 100 hours into despite hating the lack of level design, godawful story, repetitive missions and lack of cutscenes

my motivation to 100% the game was gone after that story ending

>It doesn't have to, nor does it try to.

It tries really hard to, but all of it falls flat and doesn't actually bring anything to the overall tone of the game unlike past games.

Lets pretend that it didn't try to, not like it successfully hits the mark of being a serious game about revenge and race either, it doesn't actually accomplish anything, it's just an embarrassing failure.

>MGS2 ebin twist
It's really the Metal Gear Ac!d twist. That whole "you're not really playing Snake" thing came from those wierd card-based psp games.

I’m a huge MGS fan and I couldn’t even finish it. Got to Africa and just lost interest. Tried again a year later with a fresh perspective and no hype, couldn’t even finish Afghanistan. Lame game.

>It doesn't have to, nor does it try to.
Sure it does.
It's Peace Walker 2. I would say Portable Ops 3, but Portable Ops at least had the "crack team of weirdo soldiers" thing instead of "Okay, now beat those same 3 AAV but with 12 guys supporting it. Okay, now do it with 16 guys supporting it. Okay, now do it with 24 guys supporting it." The Skulls were a half-step back in the right direction, but still fail because they're just mindless killzombies devoid of any personality. Even the B&B from MGS4 had more character than the Skulls.

>the mother base aspects and side ops were better in Peace Walker
How did they fuck it up so bad?

I bet most of this wasted time was optimizing the Fox engine to run on PS360, which according to this guy was the root of all of the issues with MGSV.
I thought it was fake too until I read to the part about Venom's robot hand was supposed to have a missing finger that you could customize. I remembered the cutscene after the prologue when they are on Ocelot's boat and he hands him the arm that is missing one of the fingers. I always wondered what happened - did they just find the missing finger laying around on the boat? It always seemed like a bizarre oversight, but this explains it.

Why do I find this picture very funny?

From a technical standpoint it's solid. Controls are tight and work extremely well.
Too bad everything else is shit. Going open world was a mistake. Story is a huge clusterfuck. Missions are recycled over and over again and the game will make you grind some which gets repetitive.

Because he looks funny with that goofy stare of his. It's the default state if you give his model absolutely no pose or facial animation.

The game would be 100x better if there was a map editor available.

>get thief fan mission authors to start making outerheaven
>bump up the ai to stalker a life levels of random interaction

Is that Large Leader?

This.

>ywn play MGS3 map on fox engine

it's Huge President

The gameplay is solid and the first couple hours are fantastic, but after that the game can't really keep up anymore and the story starts to shit the bed.

No, no, it's Giant General.

Not even that. Just give me well designed bazes with lots of interiors. Then just random objects to accomplish.

The core gameplay is solid gold, it just needs more maps.

>make prison complex where you extract prisoner like in ground zeroes
>side objectives like it thief where you have to find items in map, plant evidence, etc
>interior areas

I thought it was Colossal Colonel

>How bad is it?

Nothing that exists in the game is bad. The problem with the things that don't exits.

Mediocre

It's obviously Massive Manager

like tears in rain, user ;_;

You're the retard here. Chapter 2 is not an epilogue. It is chapter 2.

>Venom wants exactly what Big Boss wants
They're completely fucking different characters

OMG hearing you fags complaing on how this game is unfinished every single thread is fucking annoying.

Take it for what the game is, not for what you wanted it to be

the game is not that bad user, infact it the only game that i bothered to 100% + all steam achievements.
The game has really fin gameplay and pretty good cutscenes

I just assumed it was a prototype. Did you notice that he was far more muscular in Afghanistan than he was on the boat? I mean, it shows Ocelot injecting him with something. I assumed that was some kind of steroid, but even the strongest steroid would take awhile to swell a dude up. I doubt it was just SUPER steroids that had him built in a day or two. He could have found a better arm, or even had one made and delivered or something. Later they mention the engineer that made your arm is the guy you're saving in the barracks. He could have made it.

>Take it for what the game is
It's unfinished, it's not about what I expected it to be.
The final 5 hours of the game is a badly cobbled together mess.

Electric muscle therapy you goddamn idiot

Yeah but they were on the boat for just a couple days, right? Or maybe a week at most. They went straight from Cypress to Afghanistan desert. I'm guessing something else was cut there.
Him bulking up all of a sudden also threw me off, so many things in this game don't make sense unless you accept the development on it was severely fucked.

They did that when he was in a coma, to keep his muscles from atrophy. When he woke up, he was still skinny as fuck. You don't just gain all that muscle mass like he did
