Logical point and clickers

I just started this and I enjoyed the first hour but then I had to use a guide and realized the game wants me to use retarded and insanely abstract logic to complete puzzles. Im looking for recommendations for games that use normal logic in this genre.
Preferably for ps vita or a shitty laptop but anything will do

Are these more fun with a keyboard and mouse?

Because I nearly put myself to sleep trying to play Monkey Island on Xbox 360.

I really enjoy the vita layout , it uses a mix of the buttons and touch if you like. Although im sure a m+kb is the most ideal

Any adventure game that uses "normal logic" is a terrible adventure game.

Myst and Riven.

aka terrible adventure games

Okay what other games do you think are terrible? I want to play those.

What a shame, those were the only terrible games in existence made.

also Shivers 1 and 2 (but they're better than Myst and Riven)

You picked pretty much the most off-the-wall point-and-click of that era.

If you want something less ridiculous, try Full Throttle, Myst (remake is good), Gabriel Knight 1/2 (NOT 3), Syberia 1/2 (NOT 3), Legend of Kyrandia 1/2 (NOT 3, notice the pattern?)

>tfw as a kid I had an inexplicable crush on Laverne

Considering that most of them were originally designed around mouse, no shit they're better played with one.

Grim Fandango tried changing the formula, but its tank controls were clunky as fuck and the HD re-release has shown that mouse is still better.

>and the HD re-release has shown that mouse is still better.*

*If you're a numale cuckold

I enjoyed Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis

Most of the puzzles make some sense, except the fucking hat.
Also, if you don't like puzzles, you can just go around and beat up most people.

Thanks for the recommend. I only chose this because I had it free from ps plus for vita.

are you seriously defending tank controls in a fucking adventure game

Broken Sword 1 & 2

playing this atm, cute story and good puzzles

Considering Grim Fandango is my favorite adventure game and I played it before the HD remaster (unlike you), yes, Mr. Numale.

Also, if you enjoyed DotT at first, you could try Goblins 1/2 (NOT 3). There's a lot of intentionally retarded (and fun) logic, but it never gets to the point where you have 30 screens and 20 inventory items and you just don't know what the fuck to do.

Op here. Does monkey island have the same type of puzzle logic as day of the tentacle?

1 and 2 yes, 3 is more straightforward.

Monkey Island will def piss you off

>MUH FRAVRIT GAEM CAN'T HAVE FLAWS

Listen here you fuck, I bought the original GF on release and I love it to death, but that doesn't mean that I can't be annoyed by the control system.

in my experience Full Throttle was the easiest, most logical one. the very first monkey island was pretty straight forward to iirc

Has anyone ever gotten through one of these games without a help guide?

pretty much. Monkey Island, Day of the Tentacle, Zak McKraken, Sam&Max Hit the Road all tend to fall on the more random side of puzzles. The Indiana Jones adventures are more grounded. Atlantis in particular lets you even choose between more puzzles and more action.

as someone who is shit at this stuff and can't be bothered playing with a guide: I found myst 4 to work just fine as a standalone and only had to look up a guide once, and it's been a while but I think the story was pretty good

>has never played adventures
>calls them "Logical point and clickers"

You have to understand that I thought adventure games were gonna be shitty SCUMM games for eternity.

FMV games like Harvester, Synnergist, Noctropolis and 7th Guest were a breath of fresh air at the time for me. GF is this beautifully made game that played like nothing at the time, and apparently, nothing today plays like it either, making it super special.

I'm glad GF has an achievement for playing it keyboard/controller only, because scrub mouse players need to learn that more can be done with a controller or keyboard than a mouse sometimes.

Only truly right choice coming through

yes

Pretty recently The Journey Down 1 and 2.

I think i beat full thro.... nevermind i had to use a guide for that as well

It's not as bad, but it has its moments.

With MI2 in particular, the game expects you to act in hilariously sociopathic ways to solve the puzzles. Like, you need an item and the owner won't let you just take it? Trick him into getting into a coffin and then nail it shut!
Oh, and then there's the monkey wrench puzzle.

harvester

Check these guys out. Tons of logical points and clickers.

>scrub mouse players need to learn that more can be done with a controller or keyboard than a mouse sometimes
Yeah, I remember the time when people insisted on playing Doom on a keyboard and called mouse users scrubs, then got rekt in deathmatch every time.
There is literally no objective improvement in using tank controls in GF.

>tfw as a kid I had an inexplicable crush on Laverne

nothing inexplicable about it

Considering the internet did not exist back then and getting game guides from BBS or Usenet wasn't super easy, I'm fairly sure that I gotten through quite a few on my own.

Fuck, quoted wrong post by mistake.

I'm not exaggerating at all when I say this: you might be the dumbest person I've ever seen post on this site.

Primordia is easily as good as old LucasArts adventure games.

not many non-lucasarts adventure games i liked, but i remember enjoying orion burger and bud tucker... out of lucasarts games i liked full throttle and sam&max..

also, your board is a laughing stock

Is that fucking Shadman

And you might be the biggest faggot and cancer to a community since the posters on Neogaf

no?

This is my gripe with old point and clickers too. Most of them you can't realistically finish without a walkthrough for the most convoluted parts. Unless you spend a few months trying every combination but I have better things to do with my life.

it's Polyle.

remember back when people weren't complete fucking idiots? boy was that sweet

Thanks doc

You can easily beat Monkey 2 under two hours if you know what youa re doing. But back then I can only imagine the horror of Four Map Pieces where all you could do was call the hint line or buy a guide. God what a long ass chapter fuck.

yeah that's the problem. I work a lot and value every second. I don't want my games handed to me on a platter but I also don't want to get stuck using a guide either. It's a shame but necessary to gate off players, extending the game I suppose.

machinarium is a really nice game tho

get fucked faggot
