So close to Algonquin

>so close to Algonquin
>is a different city in a different state

What gives?

jersey city is still part of the metropolitan area of new york
they're one thing

Welp time to fire up TLTD for that comfy autumn 70's New York atmosphere

>not 70's Dallas

reported for trolling

It's always bothered me that these cities are just islands in the middle of the ocean. It was fine for GTA3 era, but it makes it weird that they talk about interstate traffic in 5 but itsj ust a fucking island

consoles held back the game, therfore they had to make the islands close

Rockstar are fucking hacks.

so you guys never been to NYC huh?

The GTA universe consists of a massive archipelago.

>video games
>to scale
pick one

Are you aware that Newark, New Jersey is RIGHT ACROSS from New York City?

Why are all of the GTA cities isolated islands?
Is the GTA universe actually some sort of post-post-apocalyptic setting in which more than 95% of the world's surface is now water?

>It's a highlight the absurdity of NYC/Jersey by feigning ignorance episode

hmmm almost like the city it's trying to replicate

It's the lesser of two (or more) evils

Yes

>Chinatown

uuuugh imagine if Brooklyn was called Africatown

it would be problematic don't you think?

>yfw GTA 7 is set in Liberty City again

gameplay and story segregation

Will there be bowling?

*The Bronx

*harlem

I don't mind because new graphic/ improved/ different gameplay

I wouldn't object that much. They got a lot of mileage out of IV and it's DLCs.

Saint's Row 2 reused the map from the first game and ended up making one of the greatest open world cities of all time.

NY itself

GTA 6 should just expand on San Andreas. reuse the Los Santos and some of Blaine County, and add San Fierro, Las Venturas, and whatever they call the nevada desert in GTAverse

IF THE NEXT GTA ISNT SET IN VICE CITY ILL be displeased

GTA 6 should be Miami, Orlando with the amusement parks, and the everglades with gators

GTA III is closer to IV, than IV is to present day
Modern day Vice City is such an obvious choice, hopefully that's what we'll get

>GTA 6: literally anywhere the fuck else

But no it's been 10 years, time for a new batch of devs, nostalgic for GTA 4 to remake Liberty City again.

Could future GTAs take place in the past without fear of backlash for taking away the phone mechanic?

>Modern day
Hell no. They should make GTA set in the past, 1930s-90s.

>modern day Vice City with DEA inspired storyline involving drug running between Vice City and Caribbean Nation shanties.
When?

GTA game set in a city modeled afterDetroit when?

I'm currently living in a town that is only separated from another town due to a river. People from either side are pretty biased and think they never have to cross the bridge

Not post apocalyptic but yeah, I'm pretty sure the United States of tbe gta universe are canonically an archipelago.

Imagine if Little Italy was called Italytown.

A lot of cities have things similar to Chinatown like Little mexico or little vietnam or other things. They are usually named because groups of immigrants congregate in a single area. I think there's some place in the US with a little Ghana but I can't remember where it was. There's not a whole lot of recent African immigrants in the US

So, uhm, eehm, are italians and chinese in New York allowed outside of their designated areas?

Sorry, I don't know much about big city life.

Yes, and little Italy isn't even Italian anymore.

I think he means vice city but made in the modern day

After V I'd prefer a heavier focus on organized crime

Not even a little?

I'm just going to go play that scarface game

i wish it worked on PC or emulated well

It's still a little. There's lots of Italian restaurants and markets staffed by Mexicans and Albanians. Any recently emigrated Italians would move to the outer boroughs, though.

As a non-American citizen,Brooklyn,New Jersey and Queens are seen as New York,I though New Jersey was another state miles(like really far fucking away away) from NY.

>not a whole lot of recent African immigrants in the US
Sounds like you've never been to Minnesota, specifically the Twin Cities.

>Just realized this island wasn't present on chinatown wars
>mfw

That’s what Manhunt is for. Pretty sure Carcer City is the GTA equivalent.

The real reason: they don't want to break immersion too hard by having invisible walls everywhere. So they just make it an island.

I want it to take place in modern day, because I honestly do like the cell phone, I like all the conversations you have it on, really makes the story a bit more interesting and you get a lot of flavor dialogue

New Jersey is a fairly small state and all of it is considered within the NYC metropolitan area. (i.e. the Bos-Wash megalopolis) The northeast part of the state is urban sprawl contiguous with the City but there are many parts of the state that are quite rural. Southern NJ tends to be more influenced by Philadelphia than New York. There are many parts of the outer boroughs of NYC that are pretty suburban, though, even if they are technically part of the City.

>We will never get a groovy 70's blaxsploitation style GTA game

I recently watched the Superman vs Batman movie and was surprised to find out Metropolis and Gotham are close like New York and New Jersey, barely a stone throw away.

But it's the 2000s in GTA 4.

GTA Lee Vining fucking when???

...

i found a torrent once for a version that works on new pcs
I can't fucking find it for you:(

I hate the fucking cell phone.

That looks like a lot of places in 5 though

what the fuck does this have to do with anything?

>all that fucking nothing in the center

And people call Blaine County empty.

That movie was retarded as fuck, but that little detail was the one thing that infuriated me.

You'll figure it out. I believe in you.

It's not the first time that's happened, Gotham and Metropolis sharing a river and all.

The map is GOAT aside from having too much water. The northern part needs way more fucking land mass, so much wasted by water. Basically needs to add land mass to reduce the massive lake in the middle.

Rockstar have forgotten how to make GTAs that aren't set in the present. GTA IV was set in 2008, GTA V was set in 2013.

I've managed to get it installed and running decently, but the mouse control is all kinds of fucked up

>GTA VI is the entire earth 1:1 scale
>wooooooooooooow look at all that wasted space!

>tfw the next GTA will never take place in the alternate present of GTA 2
Then again they'd just find a way to ruin it.

As long as Respect is Everything, I'll enjoy it nonetheless

It's a place is Southern California called Little Africa.

>GTAV buildings solid objects that you can only enter about 5 of in the entire game
WOW JUST LIKE REAL LIFE

Even people who live in NYC don't want to be there. What makes you think anybody goes willingly?

It would be nice if you could roleplay as a peeping tom

>this is what flyover niggers actually believe

the game is called Grand Theft AUTO, of course the focus is gonna be on outside locations where you can drive cars

The earth wasn't actively designed with good gameplay in mind.

I've literally never lived in a flyover state. Thank fuck. Most boring places in the country. At least you can let the throttle out on the highway and get through them faster.

If the game is called Grand Theft AUTO with a focus on outside locations and cars, why would they make a 1:1 scale of the planet with all the water intact? You stupid fuck. Learn how to fucking argue.

where do you live

Why wouldn't God wanna design a planet that's fun to play around on?

It's the best city. The bad thing was the lack of countryside.

People are allowed anywhere of course, it's just a lot of given ethnicities live in certain areas, so Chinatown has lots of Chinese and Chinese businesses etc.

The cars in GTA aren't even appealing enough to be the focus. Barely any customization in most of the games and even the supercars you see on the street are always stock.

Seattle

So New York is just a city-state close to a small state called New Jersey?

I'd like to go there someday. I'd like to see all the Jews and how their society work.

Isn't that what fallout is basically?

Because a game with a lot of driving needs diverse backdrops. Having just a big square chunk of land would be boring as fuck.

you mean a Mafia game?

Tell that to The Lost

>Map is 90% nothing.

This is legitimately what I want in a GTA map. The area outside of the city in five was much more fun to drive through and explore. My main concern with going back to Liberty City again is that the map is nothing but city.

Can't do. I killed them all in 5

...

Mafia is a shitty series

No. New York City is the largest city in the state of New York. The city has many of its own laws and regulations but it's still governed by the state government in Albany. It's confusing for non-Americans since the city is often just referred to as "New York," a fact that annoys many people who live in the rest of the state. New York City is composed of 5 boroughs (Manhattan, Brooklyn, Bronx, Queens and State Island) but has a metropolitan area that stretches further into the state of New York, as well as nearby areas in New Jersey and Connecticut.

That's an objectively incorrect statement by all metrics, but I'll let it slide.
Unless you forgot a "3" in there and meant to say "game" instead of "series".
