When it's the same exact picture with the same type of "how do you do, fellow gamers" speech patterns it's insulting. That's what I mean by low effort. It's one thing to shill your game. A lot of people do it. But if your duty is to make 20+ identical threads a day to drum up "hype" for your company's game you need to put in a little fucking effort. When 99% of the replies to the thread are overwhelmingly negative that should be the end of those threads; but they keep coming back like a weed. That's why it's shilling and it should not be tolerated.

Realistically speaking, would Ubisoft genuinely dedicate staff to track sites like Sup Forums and rile up Sup Forums? What makes this stand out against any other AC apart from the fact that it's trying to shoe horn in unnecessary rpg mechanics instead of actually being an assassination game. I really like 1 and 4 but why are people remotely hyped for this.

Personally I love the AC games because of the historical approach and parkouring around big cities and locations while using different gadgets to kill people.
Egypt is also a criminally underutilized setting for games.

Fair point but I love the revolutionary time period of ac3 and everything with the dad was 10/10 and then everything with Connor and the game constantly telling me how I should do everything made me want to scream. To a less degree so did syndicate and that's without mentioning the pants on head retarded future stuff. I ain’t got a problem with 1 aside from everything but the ending being boring, the Ezio trilogy is up their for some of the best games I’ve ever played, 3 was boring, 4 jumped back to making me love the series (those fuckig shanties and ship battles are too perfect not to like) and than unity happened and I’ve yet to get a stiff one for an AC game since.

Origins however has perked my interests more than rogue and syndicate have and so I’m on the line of being cautiously Optimistic.

I'm not accusing you of shilling this game. I'm speaking specifically about the hundred or so nearly identical threads about this game that I've seen this past week. Wanting to talk about a game you're looking forward to is one thing. Making sure there is ALWAYS a thread up about a specific game using the same picture and same business man's idea of what people who play video games sounds like manner of speaking is shilling. That's why this game is being shit on right now more than anything. I've seen it too many times to count. Threads like that popping up like cancer and then like fucking MAGIC they disappear off the face of Sup Forums once the game actually launches.

Yeah I don't really care about all the modern times stuff and ancient ayylmaos or whatever.
But I have been watching some streams of people who already have the game and it just seems like a regular entertaining action RPG in an interesting setting. I'm not so sure about the loot boxes, I thought they were purchasable with the ingame currency like in HZD.

I played 2 but never really cared much for ezio. 4 was amazing but it was a pirate game and the "AC" parts of it. The tailing missions especially were so fucking boring and stupid. Syndicate had a setting I liked but the invention of guns means the game has to be designed differently and it really just ended up feeling like a generic ubisoft base clearing game. All I've seen of origins was the E3 trailer that just made it look like more of the same with the RPG element from shadow of war tacked on and lootboxes. The RPG elements seem super pointless and contrived and I think we can all agree that lootboxes in SP games are stupid. So is it just the setting that people are really interested in rather than the game mechanically being better?

So basically just the setting be rare enough to grab your interest combined with the fact that it "hopefully" won't be utter ass from a technical stand point?

The gameplay also looks fun because they changed it from the former games.
They also went the Far Cry route with make your own fun by having a lot of tools at hand, like unleashing animals on camps, rigging alarm systems with traps, setting shit on fire and putting poison on corpses to infect enemies coming to investigate it etc.
Also I have no games to play right now.

I don’t wanna count out the combat/rpg gameplay until I’ve gotten time on my own for it. I quite enjoy rpg’s so maybe this’ll be what’s needed for people to shut up about being unstoppable killing machines. People complain about it but i quite into it. And for origins, people say dark souls but I can’t help but see Prince of Persia, which is an abosulte top 10 best game ever on my list so come on Ubisoft, don’t fuck it up.

And really for all the AC games, even the shittier ones, the settings are the biggest draw and what seem to get me absorbed into it. I quite enjoy running around and parkouring my way from renaissance Italy, the Middle East and the Americas so having Egypt to run around in this time could be an interesting experience enough. The tailing mission and finding loot never really bother me that much. I will say black flag at least made my efforts worth it (again, those shanties have to be the greatest collectable ever in a video game) though I understand why others wouldn’t like tedious stuff like it.
