Should the Soulsborne series be more loot based?

...

Loot to be interesting goes against in philosophy to the skill-based gameplay Souls have.
If you do some +2 fire damage it means nothing if normally you kill enemies fast, so the upgrade and infusion system works best as it's more significant.
Defense-wise, Souls are pretty focused on rolling and blocking so +15% Ice resistance also means very little.
As for other effects, it most often means "more damage" in general such as "chance to cast Lightning Bolt on hit", also goes against the "you die fast, enemies also die fast" thing Souls has for it.

Other than that, loot-based systems rely too much on enemy and player scalling. It would require areas to be much more level-restricted which also goes against the exploration nature of the series.

As a Diablo, Path of Exile and Grim Dawn enthusiast, I feel Souls games wouldn't really benefit for more loot-intensive gameplay, except if you go out of it's way to make droppable augments for weapons and shields that change your movesets, but even then it's not ideal when considering a random-drop approach.

No. It's fine as it is.

God no. After playing Nioh with it's awful inventory management and 100 versions of the same weapon.

This is such a good image

Since half of the multiplayer game is Fashion Souls, there should be strictly cosmetic loots so people can show off

Any excuse to post this image is acceptable. Amazing.

I love the loot system of the Souls games. They remind me of dungeon crawlers where loot was in predetermined spots and you just had to find it or do certain things for it and you were guaranteed it. I don't think Souls games need the Diablo style of loot

I think the loot system could be slightly tweaked, only enough that each starting class is viable and unique

>dark souls 3
>being a pyromancer is basically impossible until you get to Demon Ruins

No

IT'S MY GUIDING LIGHT, JERRY

Oh hell no. I hated the rare item drops on rare enemies in 2. Go back to Diablo 3.

Are you serious? Pyromancer has it easy. You can grab the fire clutch ring and the flame stoneplate ring to balance super early. Additionally, tons of stuff that is normally difficult is very weak to fire, especially at the beginning. Pyromancer is easily one of the better classes at the beginning, and just becomes amazing once you hit Demon Ruins. If you want to complain, talk about being a sorcerer in game where all the AI tries to close distance on you and spam quick attacks.

They did this already.

Your welcome.

Have you played Dark Souls 2?

The main flaw with Bloodborne is how inaccessible most of the weapons are for a first playthrough. If they had changed it so that after Gascoigne you could buy any weapon in the game it would be literally perfect.

Play Nioh for an example of how that changes the game design for the worse

>strictly cosmetic loots
GIT. GUD.

No

Well you might like it. It's decent.

OK, I will

I just got DS3 recently. What class should I choose for my first run?

I might

No.

You can turn any class into any spec. That said, start with knight. You start with a top tier weapon and good armour

I recommend Knight if it's your first Souls game. Keep a backup fire weapon and a bow handy for when you need them is all you really need besides whatever trusty main weapon you decide to upgrade all the way. DS3 is filled with enemies that try to rush up close to you and attack very quickly, so it's hard to beat it as a pure caster. DaS and DS2 are the opposite.
