I'm mainly here to argue that fighting games could be Ascetic as well, as many competitive players do it to git gud rather than purely to interact with others.

A lot of games in the ascetic tier particularly are purely memorization which isn't a very transferable or useful skill. You can certainly approach them with a zen mindset, but the challenge is ultimately shallow and quantitative rather than qualitative.

Conversely you have people for whom the setting of a moba or mmo is just a wrapper and a playground for the real meat which are the combat mechanics.
