Talk about this REAL GAME here.

dead game

Not saying it was a bad game but they really botched its realease and whatever value it might have had is far gone by now.
Wake up my friend.
Its time to perform a very needed necropsy for scientific reasons.
Plenty to talk about; Like your shitty self-fufilling prohecy you forced upon it.
I'd terribly love to good sir; but I cannot abandon it even if I wanted to; Inexorable moth to a flame.
I guess we can talk about this shitty game, but after ten million lawbreaker threads i'm kinda done with that.
Did they ever fix the balance?
>Shitty
That's bullshit but I'll let you delude yourself.
It's kind of hard to do so when you lack the funds or resources to do it from the get-go.
>I single handedly have the power to destroy video games
Cool
>Single-handedly
No, more like legions of gibbering brainlets fresh off the Battlefield bus.
"HURR DEAD ON ARRIVAL" spammed a billion times over is obviously going to cause such a thing to happen. Being able to review the fucking game without ever having played it is going to be a fucking problem. Steam review bots are going to especially be a problem and were a problem.
The game was not "Shit". If you had an attention span more than two seconds long, you would of actually picked up on something.
Monster was the only fun aspect of the game for me. Goliath + level one hide and seek shenanigans was 10/10 gameplay during the open beta.
What we have here is an interesting premise that haven't been tried that failed because getting stuck with the monster wasn't good, it was a game that forced team work above all and its worth discussing its merits, there are a lot of things evolve got RIGHT, like the heroes for example, even though they looked like cybertrash that little moment before battle they always had something to say that painted a tiny bit about the world they live in, their relation with one another and their personality, i really enjoyed the bugman, the australian tv star and the lazarus and i hated A LOT that quirky niggress girl with the arm cannon, i think she is the only character i would remove, everyone else was fantastic, even their gameplay was smooth and fun to play.
Hey show a little more respect or I'll ruin the next release you're looking forward too.
>the next release you're looking forward too.
Hahahaha. We'll see if a game like that comes along.
Sunny wasn't too bad; but at least the developers weren't trying to push some political agenda like most these days seem to be. She could be a little bit annoying though at times; agreed.
Hey, that shit was fucking glorious even in the alpha Curse ran. I had fun with the hunters, no doubt; but the monster was certainly where it was at; replete with the giddyness of fooling the hunters or the sweaty palms as they're on your ass.
I was one of them and i was angry because i almost pre-ordered the game before i found out about the in-game store.
That was a stab in the back, it was a f2p model being inserted into a pay2play game, where would my 60 bucks go when if i wanted extra monsters i would have to pay more for it? even worse was the additional historical blunder that was the HUNTIN SEASON pass, it was made to sound like a season pass but you woudn't get shit after that 'hunting season' was over, they were sort of going to do it like cs go event tickets but had to drop because it flopped after the community caught up to what they were doing.
Evolve had an interesting premise but botched itself by overjewing it, there wasnt enough content at release to act this way, its like if overwatch charged 60 bucks but had only 6 characters at launch and revealed plans to sell the upcoming ones by extra costs 6 fucking months later.
It was indeed DEAD ON ARRIVAL.
S'arais pls we had this conversation before, the way you bash criticism by attacking critics instead of whats being said is unmistakable, stop doing that you alone contributed a lot to this game death.
I think sunny annoys me because she is too happy to be wielding a gun and fighting an animal, she sounds like the kind of person that would protest against this.
We have had this conversation multiple times before; and multiple times before I've pointed out that there was several, intentional, delibrate ways to not have to pay for the characters AT ALL. Your statement about the "season pass 2" holds a lot of ground; considering how fucking insane that was in the long term. 2K nevertheless despite the backlash still fucking went ahead and jewed it by doing a SECOND SEASON PASS. They seemingly wanted this game to fail from the get-go with their behavior.
I don't see how you're claiming it didn't have content; and still don't. It had far more than most games at it's time; even the lauded TF2 and l4D didn't have this much content at launch. All the map mutators? All the modes? You're telling me that's not content?
This is a fair point; now that you mention it. She's young and everything but she does have entirely too much pep.
>evolve
>good
All team play skills where either number de-buffs or shit any player can do with any level of self awareness
All classes lack any kind of fun movement option
The monster was a chore to play as and was only enjoyed by people who can't center their screen on what they want dead so they waste everyone's time for about ten minuets before showing up to hotkey your shit while you look on with popguns that will do nothing if the monster player isn't playing from a coma
This game is bad, and the only enjoyment you could have ever gotten out of it was bulling potato monster players who where probably like 12
>He actually bought Evolve
>Kind of
>I'm shit at the game, therefore the game is shit!
wew lad
The majority of that is cosmetics. What are you on about?
>delibrate ways to not have to pay for the characters AT ALL
This only happened AFTER it went f2p, before that if you wanned a character boy oh boy you would have to open that wallet or else its monster thumb up your anus.
>It had far more than most games at it's time
It didn't, 6 characters for a game that relies on character abilities wasn't enough, comparing it to games where characters aren't as unique in class and gameplay is unfair to say the least, even tf2 released with 9 characters.
Just give up man.
>I think I can win a stage 3 monster fight without abusing level geometry or playing a potato laying on a keyboard
>I think tracking matters when the maps are small compared to a bf3 map and it isn't just chace someone until they hit a dead end because they don't know the looping paths yet
You are just bad at videogames
>This only happened AFTER it went f2p
Nope, they were part of the game, day one.
>6 characters
Wrong again; I'm starting to think you didn't even play the game
>lacking in content
lmfao
>Small
The maps were fucking retardedly huge
>I think I can win a stage 3 monster fight without abusing level geometry or playing a potato laying on a keyboard
What is teamwork, positioning, and using your equipment right?
Come on now. At least try to pull my leg.
>someone can be this wrong
>It didn't, 6 characters for a game that relies on character abilities wasn't enough, comparing it to games where characters aren't as unique in class and gameplay is unfair to say the least, even tf2 released with 9 characters.
>15 is 6
>15 characters is less than 9
They only equipment that was not monster gets x less stat or your teammate gets plus x stat where the 3d tracking dart which didn't mater to any player with a brain and a decent set of headphones, or the cage.
And every map was no bigger then metro buddy, you just have no map or game sense. 90% of the shit was a Cod style disk layout of maps instead of the 3 lanes metro and every other cod map is. It was a whole hell of a lot smaller then what you think and even some BC2 maps dorf evolve's maps.
... You're fucking joking, right?
>Cod
>Metro
>BC2
I thought this was Sup Forumsideo games.
literaly a cod map
It should have been more like that "Finding Bigfoot" game on steam, not sure what state that game is in now though
>Implying
>Cites BF, COD, and other shit non-games.
>Not something with credible map design that isn't just a fucking handholding linear corridor shooter
It probably was; until 2K forced them to retool it into a Mobrawler
Evolve has shit map layout like those games, that is why it is getting that comparison
If it had anything in commen with quake, unreal, or team fortress, multiplayer games with good map layouts, I would have said that. But its doesn't so I didn't say that you fucking retard
I'm thinking you got stuck with the "stage 2" version of the game. You didn't exactly get the areas right on your diagraph, And what the fuck is with all that excess white space, fuck.
m sorry, but all evolve maps have no concept of high ground (and no not just literal high ground)
There needs to be places on the map that are better then others for some reson to cause conflict. Those areas of the map are then deigned in a way that the areas that give you the most opportunity form the space make you the most venerable. Because of evolves random points of significance, all of those areas had to have significantly less work put into them when put next to a fixed map. It has no quad damage sitting on a platform in the middle of a lava lake with 3 points of entry on the room, leaving a huge risk-reward for your potential gain. There are also no areas of real high ground in a literal term because the elevated points on the map don't matter because there is no reson for anyone to expose themselves to high ground fire.
The game feels like a bunch of hallway that ether curve right or left depending on how you are looping the map with warehouses in the middle.
>There needs to be places on the map that are better then others for some reson to cause conflict.
There was.
>Those areas of the map are then deigned in a way that the areas that give you the most opportunity form the space make you the most venerable
It did.
>Because of evolves random points of significance, all of those areas had to have significantly less work put into them when put next to a fixed map.
what.
>It has no quad damage sitting on a platform in the middle of a lava lake with 3 points of entry on the room, leaving a huge risk-reward for your potential gain.
This isn't that kind of gain.
>There are also no areas of real high ground in a literal term because the elevated points on the map don't matter because there is no reson for anyone to expose themselves to high ground fire.
There was.
>hallways
>when it's really a bunch of open areas with shrubbery and wildlife
>where the monster can hide within said wildlife and shrubbery and obtain powerups from albinos
>When there's virtually no linearity to the map
>Where there are multiple places that benefit certain combinations of monsters or a certain monster, due to being wider open, or congested cramped caves, dis-allowing attacks from the air.
>The only things to fight over where resources the monster didn't even need if he waited longer
That is not a point of conflict for anything but bad players
>implying the monster would attack before stage 3
>implying the dropzone isn't a huge open area on every map to accommodate a stage 3 monster
None of those hallways on the map matter dude, the only area of real conflict is the drop zone
>implying the monster would attack before stage 3
>implying the dropzone isn't a huge open area on every map to accommodate a stage 3 monster
It's very clear you never played the game, considering multiple monsters and hunters engaged at stages 2 and 1- some even right at the drop point. It's like you're pulling shit out of your ass because you have no argument at this point.
>bad player play the game poorly
Read my lips
any monster fighting before stage 3 is a potato disguising itself as a player
there is no reason to attack the hunters unless you fuck up your loop and get caught, or think they are just potatoes who where not going to be able to do anything to you anyways
>any monster fighting before stage 3 is a potato disguising itself as a player
>there is no reason to attack the hunters unless you fuck up your loop and get caught, or think they are just potatoes who where not going to be able to do anything to you anyways
Next you'll say "I was only pretending to be retarded!"
When why would you attack the hunters before you can just time out with your speed until you hit stage 3 for an assured win? You don't need to expose yourself for any reason, you can get to stage 3 just by waiting and running.
If you are not a bad player, there is no reson to attack before 3.
>When why would you attack the hunters before you can just time out with your speed until you hit stage 3 for an assured win?
Maybe because they're hunting you down and trying to box you in? Maybe because you're trying to lead them on a wild goose-chase so you can pick the stragglers off one-by one? Maybe to weaken them for future, actual conflicts in your own favor with map positioning?
It wasn't just "bad players"- The top players in the game always kept good mind on each of the classes, mislead them, picked to fight in areas of their favor, positioned their deployables well, and had- get this, SKILL AND KNOWLEDGE OF THE GAME.
Fleeing-til-three was usually seen as a sign of an unconfident monster.
PLayed it with friends. It's shit. No wonder this game is dead.
>split up and try and cornner the monster
>get raped as one team member get all the hotkeys used on them before the monster runs thought the hole it made in your defense
that is if you are a class that can slow the monster at all and he just doesn't run past you forcing you to speed another 5 minutes trying to corner him for the same thing to happen
this game also has medic classes, and unless the hunters are potato how make the medic go in first dealing damage is meaningless
You also didn't address how attacking would be better then just running away with your superior speed. The monster has too much hp for tick damage to even be slightly effective even at stage one. If the team splits up like you suggest unless the monster tries to run past the trapper is a free pass to freedom and letting the timer to stage 3 run down, ie the gerrented win.
Also no one in the fps scene ever took elvole seriously as a competive game and you basically saw the gaming equivalent of the wmba playing your game. fyi.
>All those typing errors
Somebody's shaking.
>no response
Somebody is in denial about playing a shit game
>STOP LIKING WHAT I DON'T LIKE!
Nah.
>I enjoy wasting my time
good to know
>I enjoy wasting my time
If you don't play video games, why are you on Sup Forums?
It wasn't a self-fulfilling prophecy
It's not like people didn't play the free weekends before and after launch.
They just said "this isn't worth 60€+season pass+DLC not included in season pass"
Again, the majority of that was skins, So, downaloadable, yes, but Cosmetics aren't "Content".
I agree with you.
But as you said, it was mostly cosmetics. New monsters were DLC
Monsters and hunters, yes. People claimed the game had "over 200$ of day-one DLC!!!" but it didn't. The "exclusive" skins were availible 30 days after the launch, and the Behemoth and company didn't come until several months down the line when they had actually been worked on and completed. We even saw it go from a simple round spherical model with loads of placeholders, to slowly getting it's release treatment. The tongue was originally far more complex.
that's the wrong one
Again, doing that before the game even released, was a very bad idea and it was very obvious which way 2K wanted to go.
Game itself wasn't worth 60€/$ at all either.
It wasn't that much fun, which is why people didn't buy the game even after the free weekends. Also massive marketing it got might have been too much. There was even advertisement in radio and I don't think I've ever heard vidya advertising in radio here in Germany.
Can't say I've heard tell of much radio advertisement before for many videogames anywhere, so you got me there.
Grif is best boy
Certainly the best trapper.
Hyde is possibly the best assault
Lazarus for medic
Support's probably cabot or kala.
The game itself isn't bad but it was fucked by its publisher.
>60€ pricetag for a multiplayer only game with not much content
>New monster and shitloads of DLC announced before the game even released
>ESPORTS
>not being able to play as a 5 man party
No. Best.
You wanna go ya wankah'?
>not being able to play as a 5 man party
You actually could.
>New monster and shitloads of DLC announced before the game even released
This wasn't the first time this has ever happened, but this is a fair complaint.
€ pricetag for a multiplayer only game with not much content
It had an offline mode. The "not much content" is very subjective depending on your term of content.
>ESPORTS
ESPORTS
>ESPORTS
ESPORTS
We don't even need to elaborate on that. This wasn't even the kind of game for Esports but 2k kept fucking pushing it instead of letting it occur naturally. Excuse me while I gag.
It was fun when I first played it at EGX back in 2014, got some beta codes and kept playing when I got home. Shit got boring FAST, it just didn't have much longevity. And the DLC on launch was fucking ridiculous.
The DLC was mostly skins, camino.
It sure is a good idea to launch your game with a bunch of DLC that goes beyond the price of the actual game, even if it's cosmetics.
But no individual DLC was inherantly more than the base game itself. Many of those were duplicates or bundles.
Nonetheless. It was something made post-development. Still goes with your statement though.
This game is still alive? I really liked it but the balance was abysmal and then suddenly everyone stopped playing
It still lingers; many of the players are there because of their detestment of how the game was handled.
The community was kept muzzled and silenced for too long; and without the momentum to back it, the game was ultimately doomed to degrade.
The game was fucked the moment THQ went under.
Stage 2 had even less content than the retail version.
