probably Tibia

OGRE'd

ffxi. it was such a fucking timesink though

Is the revival project for this game still ongoing?

I'm biased since it was my first really dedicated MMO.
But out of all the other games I've played none of them could compare in when it came to community.

Early (2000s) Dofus is pretty much incomparable for me. Best player based economy.

EVE

runescape

wow

Hey Daloran, my mom, she got me this new game.

Id love to play this game now. I remember back when it came out it was like
>oh look it's Everquest for little babbies

now a days it would be
>FUCK THIS GAME IS TO HARD FUUUCKK

I'm with you, OP. Probably EQ:OA. Exploring that world without a god damn minimap made it feel so gigantic. I'm sure, if we looked back on it, it was pretty small compared to most other MMOs, but man.. I had such great times in that game.

POTCO, I have no fucking clue how a kid like me got the war galleon, war sloop and war frigate. Wtf was I doing to farm enough coin for all 3? I didn't even know where the main quest was.

The PS2 version was so different compared to the PC one,but I really really enjoyed playing the it

It is

Flyff is still going strong surprisingly

thought it said everlust tbqh

Mabinogi. No MMO will ever compare, man. In it's prime, it was really something else.

I miss when games were chat rooms first, videogames second. Runescape was so much fun coordinating with my friends in the library or after school to get our own gear or get ready to take on a super tough quest like Dragon Slayer or to survive the wilderness castle.

Mabinogi was really good too. I remember my brother and I took a moongate and ended up in a far off town where all the monsters were too tough to fight against. He took on the NPC odd jobs and I spent all afternoon whittling spoons in hopes of buying some health potions to survive our trip back to Tir Chonail.

it was grindy, buggy, chinese trash filled with illiterate Egyptians, but fuck to this day I still feel the occasional urge to go back.

>I miss when games were chat rooms first, videogames secon
you're fucked in the head mate

Wasn't a kid, but I still have the fondest memories of PSO.

Without the community MMOs are just really shitty single player games. These days everything is so automated that if tomorrow they replaced all the other players with bots you would never know the difference.

>cooperating in game is the same thing as a chat room
jesus christ

Perfect World International

Shit was amazing, the gameplay was clunky and laggy but the chinese atmosphere, gear progression and music were 10 / 10. One of the comfiest games I've ever played

Fucking Star Wars Galaxies. SOE burned it to the ground slowly. SWG EMU just isn'tthe same, but I still load it up every once in a while.

>you can never go back

PSO was revolutionary.

You don't post pictures of that faggot here, you retard. Fuck off.

I remember when they shut down. It was always the same 5 guys on every day.

Ragnarok will never really be the same, even with ragnarok:restart. Its literally just bots grinding maps and no real interaction like in the early days.

Music is god tier though. Personal favorite is Wanna Be Free.

Agreed. I didn't even make it to the end game shit, but it was a blast.

I agree with you OP.
EQOA was just magical and I have no idea why... I miss it a lot. The lack of a in-game map maybe? You had to ask for directions to everything, and if you went in a random direction out of town you were GUARANTEED to find something interesting (cave / pyramids / ruins / tombs / mob spawns with unique drops).
Then there were the raid bosses... such fun! I remember finding some random dragon in a desert canyon with some buddies, it was huge, had a unique NPC model we hadn't seen before and it kicked our asses. We eventually beat it though. Dropped decent loot.

Miss it a lot.

>tfw power levelling at Gharials

it's the music m8

I honestly thought i imagined this game and the two days of playing was a dream. Thanks for confirming this wasn't the case.

at the time you wouldn't think twice about it

Not as a kid, but as a teen.

Asheron's Call

EQOA was AWESOME. That game taught me how to fucking type. I had no idea how to type but got a keyboard for the ps2 (lol) and now I type over 100WPM. Thanks EQOA.

I remember pic related having some massive lag issues but other then that it was amazing

you could try your hand at ship to ship combat or use gun's & swords on land

Florensia was shit tho.

this x1000

nice!

>tfw no high speed internet as a child
>all the good MMOs are dead

This game was pure magic. There'll never be anything like it ever again.

The whole concept of a console subscription mmo is just strange to me, how did console mmo subscriptions even work back then? Was it just going to the games website or could you pay on your console?

Uh, Everquest.
