I'm pretty sure reboot Lara is working her way towards becoming more badass, the ending of the 2nd game implied that. It's just a progression that takes place at a slower pace to feel better and more "real", though there literally is no natural progression to 90's Level Lara of badassery because it was unrealistic and over the top in itself.

I'm not the guy you're replying to, but I'm 29 years old and played the original trilogy as a kid. Even I prefer the new ones in terms of gameplay. The original games had clunky as fuck controls and aged like milk. Saying that, I wasn't exactly the biggest fan of them back then either. Similar games from that gen like Soul Reaver were superior in pretty much every way.

Although you do make a good point about the originals being more focused on the gameplay (even if it wasn't great). I don't mind being interrupted by cutscenes now and then as long as the story and characters are interesting. The new games are dull as hell when it comes to story and characters. Guess that's what happens when you hire someone entirely based off the facts that a) she's Terry Pratchett's daughter and b) she's a strong womyn who don't need no man.

Im 30 and I think newer games always have to be so fucking serious or be a statement. Games like Uncharted are more like the old Tomb Raider and they sell well to. While neo-Tomb Raider is more serious and shit from what I understand. I only played nr 1 a bit and seen some cutscenes.

I think to many games today are either weird as fuck lul random games or deepest lore (Dark Souls) or deepest seriousness kind of games with weird conspiracies and crap.
