For me, it's the gameboy advance sp, the best handheld console.
Pretty good upgrade because of the backlight and clamshell design. A bit too small for the hands though.
best gba but the square design gets uncomfortable after a while. especially when you don't have children's hands anymore.
...
Why do people still buy these things when most modern smartphones already play a shit ton of games in good quality?
touchscreen controls are ass
...
You can hook up console controllers to the newer Android phones
>that tribal design SP
Why
Everything I knew who had one had it solely because it was the only one you could buy anymore.
Then what's the point?
Fuck off faggot
Absolute kino of handhelds. This thing can survive bomb-blasts as far as I'm concerned. It's tough as nails. It's the last Nintendo handheld made of grade-A Nintendium as far as I'm concerned. DS onwards was more prone to cracks and whatnot.
Enjoy your input lag.
Can't talk about GBA
WHY CAN'T I GET DECENT REPLACEMENT FACEPLATES REEEEEEEEEE
>took 14 years before getting a handheld with a backlight
the fuck nintendo? Game Gear had that shit in 1990 and you could get a rechargeable battery pack.
That's only if you use Bluetooth. I hook up a PS4 controller with USB to my Galaxy s8 plus and there's no lag at all.
Game Gear was ahead of its time.
It's inexcusable, but shows how far we've come.
Tell me about it
The one that works is fucking wrecked
And the only one that looks half decent had it's battery explode or something
Still have mine + charger + games and I play it regularly
OG faceplates are expensive on eBay, the cheap third party replacements are blurry as fuck. What is the fucking point.
the design has something to it that makes it aesthetic as fuck. I don´t know how to put it, it just looks nice
I owned 4 of the second NDS, and 3 of them broke within a year or so. The hinges are made of weak shit. Apparently the original NDS was much tougher, but it looked too ugly for me to want to buy. Loved the NDS more than the SP though, mostly due to flashcarts and ease of piracy.
The point is that we need to wait for some fucking gameboy miniClassic or some shit
I still want to play emerald as i did back then goddamn
>see top of picture
>confused.jpg
>check shadow
>aw yiss
it's good
It used up 6 (SIX) AA batteries that lasted
My OCD is satisfied
You still have yours too, right Sup Forums?
My sister had this Barbie princess and the pauper game and it was actually really good. Even my uncles would be playing that shit whenever they came over
Oh yeah
Shit all my cartridges haven't aged that well
>GBA
Oh shit, my dude
Underrated OST
Oops *GBA Fantastic Four
had potental to be the greatest handheld ever if you could put some AAs in the back and call it a day.
As it is now, it's unplayable without a good battery, which is literally impossible to find these days. Chinese fakes barely last 6 months. Original GBA SP batteries are reaching the end of its lifecycle, which means no more than 3 hours of gameplay (in opposite to the glorious 10-15 hours of a new set).
For me, the first model is the superior GBA. Better grip, lasts forever thanks to AAs, easy to backlight mod, has a headphone jack.
Of course. The thing reminds me of the time I had friends
>all those dried batteries and memories
>Using USB controllers on a phone
>carrying the controller + OTG dongle + USB cable
that's stupid
>fighting boss in the middle of a long car ride home
>light turns red
fp most accurate post
>ESL
>My sister
Sure, user. Of course it was your sister. Uh huh.
>For me, the first model is the superior GBA. Better grip, lasts forever thanks to AAs, easy to backlight mod, has a headphone jack.
Define "easy to backlight mod". The only thing I don't love about the OG GBA is the lack of backlight, but I was too scared to Afterburner it as a wee lad and nowadays I hear it's a bitch to AGS-101 swap it.
That game was the shit
And it was fucking hard too
>"Original GBA is better"
it's pretty damn easy for the 32-pin model, you just need basic soldering skills
that's what the battery pack was for. Only problem was it was too big. Game Gear also had a TV tuner, honestly if it had a better library the Game Gear would be better in just about every way. Literally the Betamax to Gameboy's VHS.
>finding nemo
fucking based patrician tier game
Arguable since it had a better button pattern.
Modded 101 sp into original is GOAT.
>like the form factor of the SP
>No headphone jack
>like the metal body of the micro
>no GB compatibility
>like how the original feels
>need to mod it to give it a good screen
>also the design looks like some kinda LeapFrog or whatever
>DS looks kinda silly with one screen turned off
I just want a good Gameboy Advance design.
Best game
I spent hours in those damn levels
10/10 design.
Mine had that red Mario 'M' cover
many potential hours of sleep were wasted playing this on school nights
yep the fish tank level and the fucking minefield level fuck they were harder than I am thinking about it
I have deep regret for selling mine after I bought a DS phat
GBA is not retro
Farts
>tfw I have the shitty frontlit version
>>carrying the controller + OTG dongle + USB cable
>that's stupid
Buying a controller that's not all-in-one is what's stupid
Was just thinking about it this morning. Still regret selling mine.
Literally indestructible. Did ANYBODY manage to actually break a GBA-SP?
My stupid cousin managed to.
Got a phat DS out of it though and it lasted me until the 3DS came out
how? the hinges on the phat ds weren't durable at all
*Hinge
The entire swing assembly was a single metal bolt. None of this cheap plastic shit you saw on the DS. Which makes it only more unbelievable that a kid managed to break it unintentionally.
I just don't know
Oh shit my bad, I misread and thought you were talking about the SP.
>Easy backlight
touchscreen controls are poor, and the batteries on SPs are fucking insane. I used to work at a retro games store and we'd regularly have people bring em in saying "it's been in my closet for like 8 years" and we wouldn't even need to charge them to test them out.
>he doesn't know what "backlight mod" stands for
I don't know how my prepubescent self fapped to Fire Emblem sprites on this thing
It's like masturbating with a thin but long penis. It feels so good but both your hands get cramps.
Lost all my games but I still got the SP and Simpsons Road Rage.
That and Mario Kart DS was my poison.
Everybody that I knew that owned a DS lite had their hinge break. Meanwhile mine that I've owned for 9 years now and fell down a flight of concrete stairs twice still works exactly as it did when I got it
Feelsgoodman
original NDS was also prone to hinge cracks
Small blog
>Had the limited edition Famicom version that I pre-ordered from Play-Asia
>Accidentaly left it at gfs mothers place (Her parents were divorced) one day after staying over
>We break up
>Ask her to send it to me or I can come and collect it
>No reply
>They move away
>Never saw it or my copy of Wario ware again
>Had an unreal score on jump forever and paper plane
>or I can come and collect it
it's yours, you don't need permission to go to her house and at ask for it there. the worst she could've done is smashed it or something, and then you'd still be here without it.
I find holding it only with your fingertips is really comfortable, you're probably burying your palms into it
You are right, I was a pathetic young lad, this was some 12-13 years ago. It is possible that she threw it out and prevented me from ever knowing. I recall going over once and no one was home or answering phone calls.
Ah well.
i'm sorry for the loss of your bitchin SP user. i hope someday you find another handheld that looks that cool.
>Have one of these with a pirated cartridge that I'd have to bring to the shop to change games (and they would charge me like 7€)
>can't save on most games I try and of those which I can save gets corrupted at some point
>pokemon Ruby works fine
>played like 300 hours, many mons at 100 and completed pokedex (including Kingdra which in that edition was hard as balls to get)
>start it up one normal day
>file is corrupted and was erased
>spent the rest of the day depressed at school
how fucking jewish of nintendo to put it out without a backlight
reason number 1 i will only buy a switch when i can pirate everything, same as i did with 3ds
Am I the only one who likes the 001 screen more than the generic lcd screen you see everywhere of the 101? 001's screen with the frontlight turned off is beautiful, it gives unique visuals you can't find today.
It gives a shit image with dim washed out colors. Its sounds like youre just telling yourself that to make you feel better about having an inferior version.
I owned both consoles. I sold the 101, why you ask, because it looks just like gba games emulated on my phone, plus it has horrible ghosting (tested with Pokemon Saphire) it looks like garbage, honestly. Dunno why everyone worships these shitty screens and even mods an original gba with that crap. 001 not only is better but it has the same screen as the gbc, which makes it the perfect backward compatibility device
No one cares about your shitty opinion.
That's a funny way to spell PlayStation Vita.

Similar thing happened to my nes edition. Except some kid that I was babysitting vomited on it. So not really that similar
