If I download a ROM am I going to jail?

If I download a ROM am I going to jail?

Sure

mhm

I'll arrest you myself, scumbag.

Yes user, don't pirate or else u will go to jail :)

B-but I just want to play Super Mario All-Stars

piracy is a crime, have fun in the pokey, faggot

just delete it in 24 hours

Reported

If you live in a civilized country it's legal to acquire and possess ROMs for games you've purchased.

Expect a knock at the door any minute now, scum.

you're already in jail

Hope you deleted it after 24 hours or else the cops will show up to your house, arrest you, and you will be executed for your crimes.

Just thinking about it gets you on list so yes

That's four fucking games, you greedy cunt!

nani?

I heard Norway has PS2's in prison. Just download it, you'll have time to finish it while the cops get the legal work done to raid your house, and then you can play some sweet ps2 vidya paid with wagecuck dollars.

Only if you make the ROM out of your personal copy instead of downloading it online.

This is faker than the 24 hours rule.

Was it worth it, user?

It's legal to make a backup but not to download one somebody else has created.

Actually I wanted All-stars+SMW

You'll get a cease and desist the first time you get caught.
You'll get another cease and desist if you get caught again, and your internet company will shut your internet off until you sign an agreement saying you won't do it again.

If you get caught a third time, the internet company shuts off your internet and blacklists your name so other companies won't want to have you as a customer.

Basically, they'll take your internet away.

Yes goy

I wish i had a screen shot of my old email account.

i downloaded some old albums years ago and i happened to check my email later and it was hundreds and hundreds of cease and desist notices. No exaggeration. ISP didn't drop me, they want their shekels.

>If you get caught a third time, the internet company shuts off your internet and blacklists your name so other companies won't want to have you as a customer.
Was this ever enforced?

>tfw I’ve been pirating albums and vidya for years on my rural-ass ISP and have never received any form of warning

It's just bots that whoever it is that holds the copyright makes. The bots download whatever the torrent is and that's how they get IP's.

ISPs cannot give less of a shit they're not going to say "stop giving me money you pirate"

yes, and the police will download you straight to jail so make sure not to touch any part of your conputer

I'm one strike away from blacklisting. They seem pretty serious about it.

based kikes

Checked. Also they own't do it lol see above i got literally hundreds of those notices

Well, the companies pester the ISP, saying you're doing something illegal! And if they don't stop you then they'll get in big trouble!
Now most of the time if your ISP is cool they'll just tell the company they did something about it and never do anything, but some companies (Mediacom) give a touch more a shit about it.

That's the most I've ever seen anyone get, a threat. I've never seen anyone claim they were blacklisted ever.

also every email had the "this is your last warning" on it

hundreds of them saying that

True, just what Mediacom warned me of when I hit strike two, letter basically said "you signed a contractual agreement that says you no pirate"

Now I have a different ISP and they couldn't give a single fuck about piracy.

Where do you live?

I once torrented american porn and got a warning in the mail saying which file was downloaded, tfw it was my dad who opened the letter

>Why do I have a letter that says I illegally downloaded Butt Pounders 3: the Pounding Returns in my hands?

You will SUPPORT THE INDUSTRY, SON. Here's my credit card, get to it.

Yeah pretty much this. It said P2P so my dad assumed someone used a PS2 to aquire it and I let him believe it must've been some virus that caused it
>What is Leanne crowe sparkly hot tub

Close one user. Sometimes I think parents will believe nonsensical shit to shut out the reality that YOU may have downloaded butt pounders 3: the Pounding Returns.

Good ol' denial.

Same thing happened to me once, but by a hilarious twist of fate the title of the porn was innocuous enough that you wouldn't know it was porn from the title alone, so I came upstairs to find them googling the title to find out what it was, but they had safe search turned on their computer so nothing came up.

Man the anxiety you must've felt as you seen them searching it.

That had to be intense.

what was the title?

Hot Sauce

The worst that can happen to you is Todd Howard.
Download a ROM of a game of his, and Todd will happen.

fuck no

i think they only really give a shit if your downloading shows or movies that they could be making money from. most companies offer tv bundles with internet at a far higher mark up and want to make those shekels.

The only jail there is... is in your mind, think about it

Not in my beautiful country. Which isn't the USA.

Not if you previously own the games you download

Buy my game

I bought New Vegas and pirated FO:4 sorry.

>mfw live in slavic shithole so gubbimint or ISPs don'tt give a shit if I pirate

>most companies offer tv bundles with internet at a far higher mark up and want to make those shekels.
>tfw trying to get rid of my cable and just have internet
>Paying $120 a month for it all, will pay half that for just internet, need that extra money
>"But sir, you're qualified for a bundle here that will let you keep the cable, and you'll only be paying $40 a month for the internet!"
>Ask him how much the whole thing will cost
>$160 a month
I hate those assholes so fucking much, I called that stupid bastard so many awful things, and I had to tell him literally seven times that I wanted just the internet because I wanted to be paying less TOTAL, not less per fucking piece of the package despite the whole bundle costing more than before.

That's okay. I forgive you.
You'll get what's coming to you.
