What do you guys think about the RX 580?

What do you guys think about the RX 580?

AMD cards in general are crap.

>rich fag

its worse than the 1070 and barely better than the 1060

Ya it isnt great as is, but if the price was actually the MSRP it would be decent

Really good card

lol id rather my 1070 and im sure the very commenter below this will prefer their 1080ti

That's about right

Perf/watt is lower but it still competes alright. Price got jacked because it BTFOs Nvidia in raw power for buttcoin minin.

AMD Linux drivers are now superior to Nvidia Linux drivers though, + you don't need to sign up for drivers. I know most Sup Forums users are winbabbies who don't mind cortanas anal probe up their ass but matters for a good enough number.

Hopefully now that they're making bank off Ryzen they'll be able to invest more in the GPU sector, but we wouldn't see the fruits of that for another 2-3 years.

I have one. Asus strix oc'd to 1500mhz. Not bad desu

Pretty good if you can find one for a reasonable price. I mean better that 1060.

jokes on you I have a Quadro 2000 and HD4870

I can't find a game thats good and needs more than that.

Better than a 1060, worse than a 1070, which is what it's supposed to be. Honestly, I don't think it's worth buying anything lower than a 1070 these days, even though I own a RX480 myself and love it.

graphics thread
>quadro

lol

What should I get? 1050 ti, 1060 3gb or 1060 6gb?

How does a RX580 differ from a RX480? Is the difference really noticeable? I own an ASUS RX480 OC'ed to 1350MHz, would I gain anything by (hypothetically) switching to a RX580?

is this a new comsole or something? where do you plug the contollers in?

I have the sapphire nitro+ 580 8gb and it's good as fuck. I got it cause my hd 5750 couldn't handle pubg and the 580 was just released around the time I was in the market for a new gpu. Idk if I'd recommend paying inflated prices for it but if all the other gpus are price gouged similarly then you may as well if you're in the market for a midrange card.

1060 6gb > 1060 3gb > 1050ti. Get the best card within your budget

This. Even Vega was a flop.

Worse than a 1060. What's the point?

I vaguely remember hearing that the 500 series is just the 400 series with more CUs or something

No, save up and get a 1070/1080. I wish people would stop cheaping out. Save up, you've already chosen to go the expensive route with gaming, why slack off now and get a half assed one?

...

>I wish people would just jew themselves! FUTURE PROOF BRO!

the 580 is just a slightly overclocked 480. Depending on the brand, some 580 come overclocked to (up to) ~1380MHz. So for 480 owners, and especially for people who overclocked their 480, the 580 is not an upgrade option

it's a 5% difference. It's a rebrand, not a "new" card. It's not meant to be upgraded to from a 480. It's so they can keep selling that type of product another year at a reasonable price (for them).

Also
>lower watts
>amd
Hooooo boy. A fury nitro uses 280watts on power savings mode while a gtx 1080 uses 180

It's the ultimate budget card with a good freesync monitor.
At least it was until miners ruined everything.

It's not worth the upgrade. The 580 is essentially an overclocked 480 running at it's stock speeds. The 580 is the equivalent to a 1060 that was released a year earlier. Whatever $20-$50 price difference you're going to pay isn't worth it. You're better off saving long-term $100-$150 and grabbing a 1070 or 1070TI if you upgrade.

He said perf/watt.

I had to sell my 1070 so i could buy drums that were worth 800 buck then i sold them to buy amps for 500 bucks then i sold them for 2500 and then i have to give back some money i loaned and no i have a 1000 bucks to go auctioning and 250 to myself so i am getting a 1050ti and a new PSU MAYBE because mine got pissed on by my dog and the extra i have is 350watts but its old as piss and the 1050ti needs at least 300 so i dont know...

I just got this... how did I do? Upgrade from a 1gb 750

End a sentence some time.

it's a fine budget card

Sorry user, I'm upset at the moment.

Fucking this. I can't even find decent cards now. They are all sold out. Its either buy shit card, sold out mid range card, bullshit high end card that is worthless without a 4K monitor and is still a waste of money because its better to just upgrade more often than over invest in a single card.

Fuck ram at the moment too. God damn last ram I bought is now twice its original price.

I do CUDA programming as a job, I've got nicer shit at the office but sometimes when I'm home I'll want to test some shit.

What's wrong with that?

Division mang, if something does 320 units of work for 160 units of energy, it has 2 units of work/energy, if something does 160 units of work for the same energy, 1 unit of work/energy. Lower perf/watt.

1050 Ti or 1060 6gb, the 3gb model is cucked.

Vega is great for buttcoinin though, drop the core volt and freq, up the memory clocks, and you're cookin. That's why it's sold out everywhere even if it's a gaming disappointment. AMD makes the same amount of money whether a gamer or Miner buys it.

I've decided to put off a new build and just try and get a half decent used card from somewhere to replace mine, a 970 most likely. It's an awful time to be building right now like my friend is. Shit time to get in to PC gaming.

It's a good card, but buttcoin fags make sure it's never a good purchase.

got this for my first build a couple months ago, gets me 200 fps on overwatch on low settings

Time to start hunting down cryptocucks.

Yeah, user I was wrong. Like I said, I'm emotional so I treat your comment wrong. Keep being you.

>the 3gb model is cucked
Not really. It's a good 50% or so improved over the 1050ti and that's pretty significant. I'd be considering it because the 1050 just isn't a big enough upgrade.

why were you comparing a Fury and 1080 anyways, should be Fury vs 980 Ti

No. You argue about game consoles here, not on Sup Forums, so keep arguing about gaming cards on Sup Forums as well.

It's got 1/8th the GPU disabled, not just memory, yet they label it the same model.

It's not like that's anything new.

Going off personal experience.

Sold far above MSRP because miner cucks.

It really is. Grab an R9 290 or 380 if you can find one. Dunno about now but they use to be cheaper than the 970 and you can get a lot more mileage out of them.

I can't imagine this makes any money now so many are doing it.

Nah that's never been done by Nvidia or AMD prior to this.

Well beyond OEM shenanigans, like how there are three different GT 630's for OEMs that all use physically different chips, not just bins.

Yeah sure let me just pull out my Number Nine Imagine 128 II and compare the power draw and performance to GP100

Read what a person says and understand them rather then saying some unimportant bullshit faggot.

>Grab an R9 290
Was looking at one which was really cheap the other day but I backed out because I got worried it was used for mining.

I understood it; it just wasn't interesting.

It does on the industrial scale.

Even small scale it pays off if your electricity is cheap

That I got a 390X and it pretty much does the same job, give or take a game or two.

Which is pretty disappointing for AMD at least. I waited for Vega, Vega's a bit of a flop.
I'll probably save up for a new 1000w PSU and a 1080ti next year, or whatever's flagship.

What the AMD equivalent to Nvidia Control Panel?

Gfx cards are priced way to high. Seriously stop paying for so much garbage.

word in the biz is that only a new Volta Titan will drop

Nvidia won't release a Titan cutdown unless it thinks AMD will be able to compete. Which it won't until Navi drops in 18Q4/19Q1. Vega may yet have it's drivers unfucked and compete against a 1080 Ti, but it won't stand against a GV102 type product.

Binning is plain retarded, in theory it costs more to make the cheaper chips.

Idk

390 was a good card for its day the X didn't add much power though maybe a couple of frames. Still decent and was better for similar price at the time.

Crimson. It kinda sucks though. It went minimal design and I find it harder to use as a result then the old fuck ugly interface they use to have.

its so fucking ugly

>salvaging chips you'd otherwise throw out to create weaker products, loses money
