Fuck racing games

Remember when racing games were fun? When they had creative gameplay elements to them and weren't just about how realistic they could make the weather effetcts?
Outrun 3 fucking when?!

THINKING TIME

blame simulatorfags

I just want to go far away again. Is that so much to ask for? Sumo Digital still exists. Make them develop another one. Please.

Where can I download coast 2 coast?

I got it on Piratebay, so I guess there? You definitely want to download the OR2FXT though, which adds more graphic options and resolutions and yadda-yadda.

If outrun 2 was released today it would get 3/10 from IGN, destructoid, polygon etc.
They want REALISTIC sim to play with 400 dollar wheel and FEEL THE EXPERIENCE

Exactly the source of my frustration. I fucking hate how modern racing games are all simulators and NO FUN.
I just want more mainstream arcade racers. Or hell, any fucking arcade racer. Seem like they could co-exist all fine and dandy back in the early 2000s.
What the fuck happened?

Tfw midnight club is dead

Did you mist the whole Mario fucking Kart series or something?

>What the fuck happened?
They need to sell wheels like Ubisoft/Activision need to sell graphics cards
Besides japan has a lot of arcade racing games to this day
a new CRUIS'N game was released this year youtube.com/watch?v=6y47w6BwsLw
In japan if you go to any cheap arcade place you'll find dozens of arcade racing games. Some are average some are good.
The problem is they don't bother to port to consoles because it won't sell

PASS TO THE CENTRE
PASS TO THE CENTRE
PASS TO THE CENTRE

Yeah, that's why they always give 3/10s to MK or Sonic & All-Stars Racing et al, right? Oh, wait.

Here it is a better video
youtube.com/watch?v=uFSZsucgvv4

What the fuck are you on about? Mario Kart? Get this nigga out of here.
Listen, I love Mario Kart. I get on that shit every other weekend, but it's not a racing game. It's its own genre. Kart Racer.
I want arcade racer. You put in your quarter and race against the clock. You get your highscore and put in FAG or HOE or GAY as your name and you feel damn proud of it too.
Why can't we have that shit again?

>burnout is dead
>good nfs is dead
>test drive is dead
>flatout is dead
>motorstorm is dead

They only gave 7+ scores to those games because of Mario, Sonic and other famous characters
Ask any IGN/Destructoid journalist if they remember playing Sonic and Sega All Stars and they will say "What? is this a compilation game?"

I used to like arcade racers, but after I got my own driving license I can't go back anymore.

>I love Mario Kart ... but it's not a racing game
You gotta be nuts.

>I fucking hate how modern racing games are all simulators and NO FUN.
git gud

>No excitebots sequel for the Switch.
C'mon, give me what I need.

I want to formally apologise for this post. I've been downing a bottle of whisky for the past 4 hours and I'm typing like a nigger.
Sorry about that. I'll get my shit together.

Assetto Corsa, Dirt Rally and RBR in VR have been the most fun since I started playing gaymes.

>Original PlayStation generation master race

CAUSE I CAN FEEL YOU

BREATHIIIIIIIIIIIIING

WE ARE THE LAZY GENERATION

Maybe you're more drunk than me, but that's not how the lyrics go.

>Cuck'in USA
Play a real arcade racer, Like Wangan Midnight.

I see the point you're trying to make but you're a dumbshit so you're incapable of doing so.

Mario Kart games aren't the same as what OP is referring to because kart racers are their own distinct sub genre of racing games. They often don't have much thought or creativity put into them and normally just feature well known characters as a selling point. They don't push the boundaries of the genre very far beyond using power ups to keep other competitors from winning and most games in this category are too much alike to tell apart.

What happened to Daytona 3? Wasn't that a thing?

it's not fair

I played this until I made a hole on the disk

youtube.com/watch?v=Wyb-znBEO9g

Even though I'm a Simufag, i'd enjoy an arcade game from time to time with enough content that is.

Project Cars 1:
A great and fun easy driving game.
Project Cars 2:
We must get the race sim audience that criticized the first game, change everything to make it more like a sim instead of giving people who liked the original more content.

Naw, I know what you're saying. I'm OP. I'm also Make fun of me all you want. I sort of deserve it at this point.
I just find it sad that the closest thing we get to those amazing arcade racers on home consoles is Mario Kart and fucking nothing else.
Is there even a single other kart racer? I know Sonic All-Stars Racing got some momentum some years ago, but it died out. Other than that? I don't know.

Guys, what's a good way for me to upload ~1GB filesize? I have Coast 2 Coast on my harddrive, and I'd be happy to share it with you.

Garfield Kart Whatever The Rest of The Name Is

F1 Race Stars

BLUR

and that's all I can think of right now.

uploadfiles

I remember playing Blur when it was all the hype. My older brother totally fell for the ''Adult Mario Kart'' marketing and bought the game.
In all honesty, it was pretty neat, but it didn't last long. Kind of mediocre racing with mediocre kart racing elements.

Thanks, mate. I'll make an archive and upload it right away.

5 minutes remaining on the compressing. It'll probably be at least 15 more minutes before it's uploaded.
If you want Outrun 2006, make sure to leave a bump before this thread dies.

Hey thanks dude, that's very nice of you!

>I fucking hate how modern racing games are all simulators and NO FUN.
There's room for variety.

Starting upload now..
I'm not sure if this will have my savefile or not. If so, just delete it or rename the profile. I haven't unlocked everything, but I pretty much bought the fastest cars and at least a few of the music tracks.

PSP has a ton of great racing games. I love my PSP so much, all I do on my Vita is play PSP games.
>Outrun 2006
>Burnout Legends and Dominator
>Wipeout Pure and Pulse
>Initial D
>Ridge Racer
And that's just the native games.

I still play Blur, but only to beat my checkpoint time on Mount Haruna.

PSP is an underrated system for sure. This coming from a Nintendofag. The thing is goddamn perfect for handheld emulation.

It's ok user.

I had the same experience, the whole setting and dressing was strange too.
Like there were all these different people adding their own flair to it, then they were like oh hey this company wants their new soulless car in the game. Oh and we're doing neon now so all the colours are muted i guess. Oh and we put these obnoxious unfinished characters in the game phoned in by some random actors going for the sub teen audience that want the nfs experience.
Esepecially the crashing felt so odd and neutered. Many tracks were so wide and empty. The controls was relatively realistic but not realistic enough to feel real, but they were also not responsive enough for hectic dodge battles and maneouvres.

Driving the ford f100 in tokyo and driftan heights was a cool setting, the rat beetle and bronco were fun cars. That one Jap course had a nice detail of all these little lanterns floating through the air.

No, emulation on the PSP stinks. Too many games demand too much frameskipping. The reason it caught on is because there was nothing better at the time.

ufile.io/a7hun

Here you go! Hope this works without any troubles.
If for any reason you're using a GC controller like I was, do yourself a favour and use the older GC Adapter Driver, not Zadig or whatever it's called. That shit won't work and it will fuck with your Xinput(360 pad) settings.
Happy drifting, anons! Hope you get to go far away.

You got a torrent i can use instead?, i aint the user that was asking but seeing this thread has brought back good memories

your 'creative gameplay elements' were stupid gimmicks for children that would get old after maybe 2 hours. a car sim with good tracks and ai and some degree of realism is insanely more fun and interesting enough to play for hundreds or thousands of hours. compare to BOOST POWER or press square to drift in outrun. shit.

you even have shitty taste in fantasy racing games. you should have posted ps1 wipeout, need for speed iii pc, or any of the f-zero games.

Trying to evolve something that needed more customisation and better graphics into cinematic games or sim racers, classes, loot, forced rpg elements, online, pvp instead of upgrades, customisation and a good car selection not just 10bil supercars

I want a game where you can upgrade parts like in flatout but with more options and progression without the 3 tiers, body customisation like in carbon or pro street with more options, pars and sliders, a good fun map, a reason to finish the game like a goal and im gold

TFW
Project gotham racing is dead, the studio is dead, and we'll never get another game like pgr 4 which is still one of the best looking and most fun games of its generation.

My friend has the Xbox Live Arcade version of Outrun. I wanted to get it myself but it was taken down because of licensing issues!
There's literally no way of getting it anymore as far as I know.

Thanks again!

Magical Sound Shower > Splash Wave > Passing Breeze

Thanks my dude!

You can redownload the PSN version if you already own it. I was able to pirate it. As far as I can tell there's nothing special about it, just a stripped down Outrun 2 SP.

>Midnight Club is dead
>F-Zero is dead
>WhipeOut is dead
>Rush is dead
>Project Gotham Racing is dead

what's the appeal of midnight club? I tried one and didn't entirely get it

Vertical Racing+varied customisation options and vehicles kinds
i find it personally apealing but i can understand why some people are turned off by it

This. Dirt Rally gives me the sense of speed and drifting that I would want from an arcade racing game while having enough depth to make getting better feel meaningful. This is what I finally settled on when Sup Forums sold me on the Initial D meme. I would honestly recommend it to people even if they are looking for an arcade game. You will certainly not be setting great times without a lot of practice, but the tight courses will still make a bottom 30th percentile time feel more exciting than other games.

Sorry man. I downloaded my torrent some years ago, so I'm not sure where to find another one.
Honestly, Piratebay is your best bet in this instance.

Its cool man, found coast 2 coast on IGG games site

Let me know how things work out. I was using a GC controller to set up controls and it took forever.
I think it was getting confused with vJoy or something, but eventually it worked out somehow.

Wipeout Omega Collection was on sale on the PSN not too long ago, and Vector Unit (the guys behind Hydro Thunder) pop out a game every now and then.

30 anniversary was this year. Opportunity wasted

This game is pretty good.

Eh. I find it's pretty shallow. I mean, it looks and feels pretty good, but the gameplay itself just lacks depth and there really isn't much content to keep you playing.

Why are you asking for Sumo Digital when the daddy of Sega driving is Yu Suzuki? nu Outrun fags need to stop giving all the credit to Sumo Digital.

Because Yu Suzuki will be busy making fucking Shenmue III, user.

I hate people telling me it's just like F-zero when it's more like wipeout.

Funny things is, Outrun 2006 features online play, but the fucking service is offline. But, there is a way to get that shit going using third-party tools.
There are a few really fishy looking programs like Hamachi that let you connect to other players, but I'm not sure whether they'll also download some hot dolphin porn to your drive as well.

Who /offroad/ here?

Idiortfag here. It's not like Wipeout either. It's a kind of mix between the two, without really reaping the benefit of either.
It's closer to classic F-Zero than Wipeout, I'd say. It's nowhere near as tight as F-Zero GX, or as intricate and weighty as Wipeout. It's pretty loose, but has none of the physics based controls of Wipeout.
But, it also doesn't have the tight, satisfying controls of F-Zero. You can't do interesting techniques like you can in GX and X. It's more of a basic take on the F-Zero formula. There's nothing wrong with that, but people who are expecting the second coming will be disappointed.

>Great gameplay by Sega rosso
>Shitboxes and such galore
>Awesome customization options
>Actual gear shifter to shift gears
>Lots of tracks and online

never ever

What the fuck is this ID game and how can I play it?

Any idea how to get it working with a PS4 controller, I had it working once but when I recently tried to play it the configuration was all fucked up and I couldn't fix it.

Are you kidding me? I thought the DS4 had native PC support. As in, plug and play levels of simple.

Oh wait. I didn't even read your full post.
Yeah, so the ORCTC controller config seems a bit wack. Speaking from personal experience here.
I don't really know what it is that fixes the controls, but I just messed around in the Windows gamepad settings for a bit and uninstalling drivers for the 360 pad and eventually it worked.
That's probably the least helpful answer you can get but, works on my machineā„¢!

Hamachi works just fine for emulating LAN with some old friends, but man, you really got to trust the people you connect with. I'll never play over Hamachi with Sup Forums.

I'll always prefer MSR to PGR and I don't know why. There was just something about the atmosphere of the game that stuck out. The soundtrack was fantastic and the game using the system clock to have the tracks run at the right time even accounting for timezones was a neat little feature.
youtube.com/watch?v=oePpxKvfChA&index=8&list=PLmIKq72z7cfVkAYNnXJeGubnD16WgIiOl

From what I've heard, Hamachi itself is the issue. As in it's bloated with adware and shit.
Honestly, the people who are drawn to this thread probably wouldn't be interested in anything but playing some Outrun online.
I find it hard to believe anyone would target this 10+ year old niche game to hack your mainframe.

Cheers buddy. I'll fuck around with it a bit and see what happens.

youtube.com/watch?v=yYyYLQZbPVE
More MSR, a real shame it was so overlooked. Gonna get nullDC up and running to give it another shot.

WHEN I SAW YOU
WHEN YOU WERE CRUISIN IN YOUR CAR

Man, you just posted one of my favorite songs from MSR.

youtube.com/watch?v=oOMy4AZTPLc

I loved the cut-rate knockoff versions Oasis and Will Smith in the game. Those were great.

The people who play "fun" racing games don't buy the games as often as people who invest and play simulators. I don't see how that's hard to understand.

The sim market is full of people willing to drop money for the game, extra cars, a racing wheel, and will play and make their own skins for a market place. Your casual racing market isn't going to do that nearly as often. I say this from a perspective of someones who grew up playing Offroad challenge, Hotwheels racing, and Mario Kart.

Also, the Burnout franchise was effectively murdered by EA who bought out criterion

Driveclub came very close to being a fun arcade style racer, but it's ruined by the no-fun-allowed penalty system and the in your face dlc car shit.

It came so close. I'm a purely arcade racer guy and I liked Driveclub, but fuck, that penalty system was horseshit and drains all the fun

>cut a corner to pass an opponent
>NOPE THAT'S AGAINST THE RULES, ENJOY YOUR 15MPH LIMIT FOR THE NEXT 4 SECONDS

>get rammed into by an AI
>NOPE, YOUR FAULT, ENJOY A SPEED PENALTY WHILE THE AI DRIVES OFF

Driveclub was one of the few games where buying the season pass was worth it. They added an absolute fuckton of content by the end. They should've included the bikes expansion in the season pass though.

I don't mind the simulator games but its disappointing that they all tried to be Gran Turismo.

I think you can have creative gameplay elements in a simulator game, but everyone is blinded by the GT/Forza money

From my own recollection, Hamachi isn't that bad but they got scooped up by a commercial entity and anything beyond five users with extremely basic functionality requires coughing up money. Gameranger is somewhat shitty, pushes ads in your face and only works with pre-selected games, Tunngle is reportedly where the really seedy shit lies (never used it myself tho), Evolve is just bloatware incarnate and all of them require making a useless account.

Personally, I've found N2N the most usable for light virtual LAN duties, you just download the lightweight open source package and it just fucking works with extremely simple usage, though it's command line only.

I miss the older NFS games where the handling model was an actual fair balance between sim and arcade and wasnt burnout-style drifting all the time, it felt great

Apparently you can turn off takedown cameras in Payback and the game doesn't have crash cams though, so if they can make grip handling in the game better then it'll be a lot more bearable than almost every recent NFS release

Would N2N work with Outrun 2006 though? That's basically all I'm asking for.
Well, that and Worms Armageddon.

RedOut isn't bad
