SIRRUS WAS A BITCH

ACHENAR WAS A BITCH

Both shitty children

The world where you see the brothers' villas or whatever they were scared me for some reason.

Is Spire the coolest age in the whole series?

>tfw you will never experience the Marble Coaster puzzle in full 3D VR

>we will never get another myst game
>we won't even get a proper spiritual successor because Obduction flopped.

>Obduction flopped
Fuck you, it was great.

was obduction good? will it fulfill my hunger for more myst?

i fucking love these adventure games. i ended up cracking open my notebook just to take notes of the shit i was finding in case it was useful later. amazing experience because half of it takes place outside of the game in the real world. which is kind of fitting because it's a game about writing books that become new dimensions

It was great but it didn't do well regardless

>you will never play uru at its peak and discover new ages with your friends

might as well order that helium tank

HOW COULD THIS HAPPEN TO ME

definitely - the absolute pinnacle of Myst puzzles is concentrated in this world.
I was enjoying the monkey business in the Jungle world tho

only played myst and riven. the rest any good?

Yes. Play it, it's great. Just to see Rand Miller placed in the game world in FMV like the old days is worth it.

Haven was garbage, sound puzzles are always the absolute worst.

>the rail track sound puzzle in myst
>the sound puzzles in the witness
ugh.

yes
that's okay - you just have a really bad ear for music

Is there an official list of MystLikes that Sup Forums recommends?

youtube.com/watch?v=Pu4n5YXPaMQ

I'm a musician I don't have a bad ear for music. The only good sound puzzle I've ever played was the piano in the original myst.

don't know - haven't seen any and frankly haven't seen a game that would effectively ape the Myst main feature of solving inventory-free puzzles by learning the inner workings of puzzle-related mechanisms (also, beautiful worlds, but those are secondary feature) beyond some very simple android games with one-screen brain teasers.

that doesn't secure your status of not having shit taste for puzzles. You can go play with Soma's frequency/phase/amplitude modulator for all I care.

...

I could deal with the rail tracks but the Witness sound puzzles were garbage.

You drew a dick there, haven't you?

Played it for the first time earlier this year (or late last). Awesome game. I felt so s-m-r-t smart figuring out some of the puzzles, like the constellation puzzle and whatnot. Even wrote down notes and everything.

I admit two whole times I looked up answers in a FAQ, but that's because I was genuinely stumped because I didn't know what was and was not possible with the game engine. The clocktower puzzle with the lever... Still makes me a little pissy.

A really immersive and interesting narrative, too. Learning how scummy those dudes were was so engrossing. Like finding that dead body in Achenar's secret torture chamber, eek!. Or finding that holo projector that played no role in the game, but was lovingly coded to change that hologram from a rose to a skull. It's those little touches that made the world come alive.

I should really try to finish Riven. I stopped because I felt there was less direction, I didn't know where to go (as the world felt so much bigger), and there weren't helpful notes or context clues to point me in the right direction.

>tfw there are people that didn't help Saavedro

Riven's clues are a bit more obtuse.

Also you have to figure out to do math in a different base than ten and that fucks with some people.
