CUT MY LIFE INTO PEICES

CRAWLING

ALL AROUND ME ARE FAMILIAR FACES

FEMINISM IS AWESOME

Can we get more posters in this thread than players than Battleborn?

If they added nude skins into the game I bet it'd see a surge of players

Someone post the badass Randy play script please

ONE THING, I DON'T KNOW WHY

It took them long enough to pull the plug. That said I think Battleborn could have stood a chance if Randy or whoever was in charge, did not name the free mode to Free "Trial" and instead just Battleborn Free to Play or something. Cause Trial implied only temporary.

Waiting for similar news about LawBreakers

Sega is avenged

Here's to more developers falling for this epic meme that Blizzard made.
It's almost like they planned it to get rid of competition

>make a bad game
>nobody buys it
>m-muh misogyny!
>m-muh gamergate!

I will never get over how you could hire a team of 50 different people, tell them nothing about the art style or theme of your project, and they would still create a more cohesive cast of character than the """heroes""" in this game. Badass!

Could Battleborn have succeeded if instead of the sexy angle/pixar as Paladins and Overwatch went, they went the super cute route?

Not talking about anthropomorphic furries or anything like that but an animated version of pic related with a more cartoony and cutesy angle to it?

the best course of action for gearbox is to sell their assets and make sure every employee douses themselves in gasoline and burns to death

Battleborn didn't play its strengths.
What I found super cool about it was that it had heros divided into factions.

But, instead of being a territorial control game like a MOBA version of Planetside 2 (where victory was actually possible, rather than just being a permanent stalemate), it tried to compete with Overwatch despite being inherently worse at what Overwatch did.

Someone post that webm with the gameplay, you know the one

>Could Battleborn have succeeded
Not with this reddit tier fanbase of faggot cucks.

>milktoast

>Could Battleborn have succeeded if instead of the sexy angle/pixar as Paladins and Overwatch went, they went the super cute route?

no idea. Probably not because they picked a fight that they had zero chance of winning

Is the battleborn logo supposed to be a hand flipping the bird?

No it's just counting it's concurrent players

>this much fucking hubris
I bet this was legitimately Randy's idea

Yes. Shows how immature they were.

Really though, what the fuck is Gearbox's deal with the word Badass?

Which button do I press to spit on the grave?

>I'm busy "boosting the player base" and investiny my time in battleborn

It shows they didn't know which demo they were actually making their game for. If they wanted to do all the BADASS shit that appeals to 12 year olds, they should have went full Saints Row and had dildos, tits and hyperviolence

They're immature is the short answer.

This game made a profit, thats more than you autistic neets can ever do

This makes me wonder if game companies pay shills to play the game and "boost their playerbase"

Yeah but the goal of modern day games is to ride the gravy train for as long as you can.
Now they have to spend effort making another game.

Don't you have an autistic son to be watching, Randy?

I liked it when I tried the f2p, I think it was just marketed like shit, and handled horribly.
Also the item grinding got on my nerves pretty quick so I can't imagine the game has a lot of staying power.

>A good game

Hahaha, funny joke!

Seriously? I don't believe this. I saw pictures of bucketloads of battleborn copies sitting on sale for 1 dollar each. There's no way this game made profit.

Is there even a reliable source to find out how much profit a game has made?

>394557927
fuck off

I hate that people make up terms for sub genres, when something like TF2 was a multiplayer shooter that just happened to have classes with unique abilities.

Nice projection, I have a salaried position that other adults don't laugh at behind my back, Randy.

PROVE IT

...

Probably, but I would guess not very often otherwise even games like Battleborn and Lawbreakers would be higher than their pathetic numbers. The sad thing is they often pressure employees to idle their games from home to boost the playerbase, I seem to remember a Steam forum post about a dev saying that when it first came out.

...

>How dare you speak to me

Jesus Christ I've never seen it so low.

30 people, that's what 3 full games happening and one waiting for 2 players to start?

There's literally 3 full games going on right now?

Holy shit.

more than lawbreakers which literally cannot get a full match together on average.

CUT MY SALES INTO PIECES
THIS IS MY BATTLEBORN!!!

I really hope developers at Gearbox look back at this colossal failure of a game and improve their work. Like many, I was a big fan of Borderlands and enjoyed the original for its charm and half decent DLC.

Whoever is producing this piss poor writing and designs needs to fuck off and reevaluate living.

>Cause Trial implied only temporary.
He probably wanted that card in his pocket.

Like he could not give up on the idea that the game would explode and he'd be able to start charging full price again.

I think BattleBorn could have had a chance if it, A, had a target demo other than "Borderlands fans", and B, Like other anons have said, toned down their cringy writing for something bearable, and maybe even, actually funny.

This all means nothing though, because Battleborn came out early last year, and the only reason I'm getting the chance to talk about it on such a fast-paced and temporary site as Sup Forums is because 12 year old newfags like the people that keep posting these threads repost and pretend to laugh at the same non-oc to "prove" their not newfags.

play paladins

>Gearbox

Lawbreakers is just barely ahead.

>what if an entire company could be represented by one man

If it made a profit and has microtransactions then how come its being shut down not even two years after launch

it's not being shut down though, that's the thing.
It'll be running for years and years and years. It's just not going to get updates anymore.

>play paladins
This really sums up the problem, doesn't it?
Gearbox had until shortly before the Paladins release to turn things around.

They could have gone free to play or significantly revamped the game to appeal to the right demographic by then. They had several months to respond to Overwatch pounding them into the dirt.

They could have became the obvious free-to-play alternative.

But they let fucking Hi-Rez beat them to the punch. They didn't even get a "free" offering of Battleborn until June 2017, and even that was horribly communicated and mishandled.

If I was a cofounder, publisher, private investor or shareholder, or even the god damn office secretary, I would be looking real hard at whether Randy is the right man for the job.

fivebelow.com/play/games/xbox-one-reg-battleborn-reg.html

Underrated.

It did not meet sales expectations. eurogamer.net/articles/2016-08-05-yes-battleborn-flopped-but-2k-vows-to-stick-with-it

Gearbox itself is privately traded, but it may be possible to get info on the microtransactions and other profit centers from 2K or T2's quarterlies.

But Gearbox will likely never admit it if it was a true failure.

i make post

>a good game that did some interesting things ... got stomped into the ground for its troubles.
It was a piece of shit. People didn't buy it because it was a piece of shit. Going free to play didn't help because the game was a piece of shit.

It works with their literal representative too.
It's kinda astonishing.

I'm not saying it wasn't a failure, just that it isn't shutting down. It's obviously not doing TOO poorly if they're keeping servers running, it's making some sort of profit, much like evolve.

>Even Battleborn threads are dying

Man what was he doing in that bathroom

I think his sister or wife commented on the tweet too, asking the same thing.

wasn't the early access for this game awful? did they make it actualy good?

WAKE ME UP

I love you Orendi

>[Compulsion founder Guillaume] Provost and Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford have known each other for a while, and they even talked about working together when Compulsion was building its first game, Contrast, for the launch of the PlayStation 4 in 2013. Pitchford is a former stage magician, and Contrast's emphasis on noir-style magic caught his eye, but Gearbox didn't have a publishing platform at the time.
It's a match made in hell.

They're marketing to their target audience.
10 year old boys.

It’s not actually. It didn’t even make a profit. Battleborn is one of big reasons why we hear virtually nothing about Borderlands 3. They don’t have the money to do full on development for it. Hell there have rumors of Gearbox trying to pitch help for money but no one is biting because Randy is a piece of shit scamming crook.

I HURT MYSELF TODAY

If it was profitable why are they stopping production on further content then? The average users on Steam is quite pathetic, I know 10+ people who all waited for the game to be in the humble bundle so we could make sure Gearbox got nothing. And we were all still disappointed in how much of a piece of shit the game was. The game was going for $20 after launch to try and get players, no one bought this shit and you can't prove it

U HAD A BAD DAY

Because it's not profitable enough to be worthwhile to spend on the amount of staff necessary to make new updates, but not costly enough to bother shutting down if it's going to continue being near-passive cash flow?
Again, look at evolve. Hasn't been updated in well over 2 years but they still sell it, and servers are still up cause it sells microtransactions every now and then.

Everyone thought it was going to be a narrative like bioshock experience even though from the very beginning they said it was going to be survival procedural generation garbage. So then everyone was real surprised when they made the game they said they were going to make.

not yet

>All these bigots who still think Randy is a scam artist
They were just artistic choices. Wake up sheeple.

youtu.be/L0o44YmeEa8?t=29m25s

I still can't figure out what Paladins did right that Battleborn failed at

Destiny 2 is supposedly leaking players so much that they removed the online counter because "it was being used to spread a false narrative." I'm hoping Borderlands 3 shares that spot with Destiny 2 though.

It didn't need the CEO to make a r34 subreddit.

Even in death, Battleborn is doing better than LawBreakers

Some criticisms I heard about the launch was that it felt more like a F2P game that costed $60, things like balance issues, among other issues. The ugly artstyle and competing with Overwatch certainly didn't help, but from what I understand those weren't the sole reasons the game lost it's population so fast.
