Sweet, I'm doing the quest for Rock and I actually had the charisma to tell him to go back to the Berserkers. Before I had his supplies gathered I was like, "Fuck yeah kiddo follow your dreams" But after telling him why he should return to the berserkers and ten more hours of play. I'm glad I did tell him to return to them.

He's a coward and thinks the grass will be greener with the Outlaws but he'll just get his ass killed instead probably.

Typically PB games have a finite number of xp you can get. So a perk like that sounded great on paper.

I like to just use both, do as much damage with the ranged options on a mouse while hitting the f5 button and switching to a controller as they close in for melee, while spamming the f5 button.

My guess is that it's an otherwise long as fuck trek over there and would pigeonhole players into picking the berserkers or even the outlaws early on because they had no access to the cleric area. So they gave an easy one.

There's even a wandering Cleric northweast of Abessa (Domed City) named Rainer(?) that recruits. If you're untruthful or inaccurate to him in his interviewing you'll be conscripted rather than invited! thought that was really awesome.
