>finally actually play it >it's just Carrie, The Mist, and Phantoms combined with a generic dark god plot
That's it? This is the game people put up as one of the best horror games? It doesn't do anything I haven't read before in Stephen King, and he's not exactly high-tier literature. I mean shit, it even takes place in Maine like 90% of King's novels.
Tyler Brooks
That's nice and all OP but Have you seen a little girl? Short black hair, just turned 7.
Camden Morales
>why does this 20 year old game feel like its 20 years old
Aaron Smith
>yfw there's 5 characters on the box art
Robert Sullivan
>playing silent hill >not playing silent hill 2
Andrew Turner
No I haven't. Is she your daughter?
Isaac Carter
You mean >why does this 20 year old game feel like 40 year old novels
I actually played that first. It's just Crime and Punishment with supernatural elements.
Logan Sanders
>yfw it's 4 if you think about it
Kevin Phillips
>mfw
John Brown
I love this game but the cult shit kinda soured it for me.
Henry Gutierrez
nah, you are just retard.
William Sullivan
This. Story wise silent Hill 1 and 3 really drag because all the cult stuff sorta brings it down. Silent Hill 2 just feels so much more interesting because it's one weird socially stiff fucker facing his demons.
Angel Hernandez
I like it more in this one than 3. In this one it feels like a real secretive thing, like you were uncovering some forbidden cockroach underneath the scum of the town. The game really built up to the cult stuff by first focusing more on Alessa's personal torments and faking you out with Dahlia at the church.
I always got this dark rush from uncovering that little shrine in the back of the antique store.
In 3 it was just 'blaahh the cult controls everything. Everything is the cult. Bluegh'
Samuel Butler
>He doesn't know there's nothing new under the sun!
Bro you just said yourself why it's good. It was the first vidja to bring psychological horror from the books and big screen to a console. It's almost like you're trying to start a Silent Hill thread
Parker Sanchez
What the fuck happened to this series after 3? 4 was unplayable garbage and the yankee version killed the series for me.
Cameron Adams
Konami disbanded team silent after 4
Jaxon Flores
The first sign?
Juan Evans
Meant to quote
Ethan Davis
The monster design in 1 is my favorite by far though. 3 had good looking environments and 2 did well all around. For me atmosphere it's always gonna be 1 > 2 > 3 but they all excel in their own way.
Austin Clark
Fuck off retard
Justin White
>It was the first vidja to bring psychological horror from the books and big screen to a console.
No that was Clock Tower
Jose Davis
Not him but Clock Tower was more slasher.
Michael Sanders
You're both wrong, Alone in the Dark came out in fucking 1992. That is the first real survival horror videogame if you don't count Sweet Home.
Ryan Davis
>survival horror
Yes plus eldritch horror. But the guy said psychological horror. Can't you read?
Robert Thompson
>why does this 20 year old game feel like 40 year old novels You say that like it's something bad
Nathaniel Rivera
I was talking about the game genre. But even then that's more SH2, most of the horrors in 1 are physical and a very real threat.
Jacob Kelly
1 is all about delving into the twisted psyche of a tormented little girl as her nightmares consume reality.
Samuel Allen
But that's not psychological horror. Psych horror is about how the threats are primarily in your own mind and that it's meant to make the audience feel uncomfortable more than scared. Again, that fits SH2 much better because even if the rust and monsters are coming from Alessa, from the player (Harry's) perspective they're just normal monsters.
