There's this weird effect that starts to happen once you just start dumping cute girls into a game, especially in a story-driven experience like this. It goes from "Wow Blades truly are these alien beings. They come in all sorts of forms." to "Okay so Blades are just really cute girls outside of a handful of them. You can stop pandering to me now, it's fine, I'll buy your game".

It reminds me back when I read harem mangas, back when I had shit taste and thought harems were at least decent. You start off with an alright core cast of girls and maybe the guy and his friend. Then, as the story goes on, a new girl is introduced every once in awhile, until eventually it all crumbles down and you realize you've been had by the carrot-on-a-stick that are waifus.

Also please keep in mind that this is definitely not helped by the fact that the main cast itself has the majority (4/7) of its Blades also being cute girls (potentially 5/7 as we haven't gotten a good look at Train's Blade but we know she's a female too). It's also weird that the only male Blades in the main cast are all animals.

Just rambling here. Don't want to sound like some asshurt liberal. Pyra is fucking hot, I just wish she was more unique instead of another cute girl out of many.

It seems we've had two male blades who don't look like Sangheili and one of them is a parrot.

A "random cute girl" to you might be a really appealing and inventive design to someone else. I fucking hate Nia, I don't like her design at all, I don't care for her personality, but I'm likely the only one who feels that way, and she's the one with the second-most art behind Pyra. But I don't take every opportunity I can to voice my displeasure at her existence. Others like her, and I can live with that.

Your complaint about cute girls doesn't even mean anything. You haven't said what you don't like about their design. It sounds like an excuse, so that you don't have to explain WHY you don't like them. If 5 of the rare blades so far are female, 1 of them ambiguously so, yet they all have distinct appearances and themes, how is that a problem?

Pyra is still unique, because her design looks different from anyone else's(besides Angela Ballsack), she's not just one cute girl out of many because "cute girl" isn't a personality trait, or a motif, or an art style. It's a broad category that can have far more divisiveness therein than you seem to be implying, and raising this much of a complaint about it gives off the impression of trying to force diversity.

Honestly nothing in your post really put up a good argument against what I said. You just said "It's okay to have cute girls if they all look different enough". That's fine for you but for me, being told "Blades are mysterious beings that come in all sorts of forms" and then the majority of them end up being attractive females starts to rob me of the mystical nature of it all. Some people can ignore that sort of thing, I have a hard time with it.

No, but it helps that all of the male Blades we've seen so far have been pretty strange-looking if not outright non-human, so a more human-looking male wouldn't be too bad. Meanwhile, the female Blades have the opposite problem. I want to see more like Azami.

Shiki is straight up missing half her body. Finch is a bird. That dog thing is, well, a dog thing. Both of the rare male blades that have been revealed are also humanoids with quirks. Everyone's favorite samurai, Vasara, is literally a humanoid version of Ga Jiarg's skell from X. This isn't a problem exclusive to female blades.

I said "human", not "humanoid." You're shifting the argument to something else. Dromarch is literally the only non-humanoid Blade; even Roc and Metsu's Blade are humanoids, but they sure as fuck aren't human. Vasara is about as human as them, and Kubila still looks less human than most of the female Blades.

Also we don't know Finch's gender for sure yet.

Maybe they'll go with the whole "every blade is/was a real person/living being" like with the faced mechon in XC1

Treehouse isn't localizing the game and nothing is censored as far as we know.

Female designs in anything are always more generic than the male ones, it's more to do females in general admiring beauty than anything.

This still feels a bit too far though. Especially with the common blades. The male ones are monstrous while the female one is uguu. I rather it was more like the Prone where the females are noticeable more delicate but still bulkier than a regular human.

I wonder how many different voice variations these guys have.

The generic beast Blades being a thing and there being a beast-type core crystal makes me wonder if there are going to be a lot of non-generic beast Blades. Is Roc one of them, or are they all four-legged like Dromarch?

I think certain crystal types might be restricted to certain characters. Nia can use beasts but Rex can't for example. Maybe some of the Rare Blades are locked off too.

Yeah, but even that would imply there's going to be variety to each of those, and not just nothing but generics plus the character's main Blade. Otherwise, why have a core crystal devoted to just one design?

See some of the posts above, you might be able to get rare Blades from other core crystals too. If there really are a lot of unique crystals like you suggest, I doubt the rare type would be the only one that gives you unique Blades.

I do seem to remember some wording somewhere that made it sound like other core crystals could give you rare Blades too, but I can't remember where this was.

I believe it's been said that common core crystals have a chance of giving you rare Blades, but I'm not sure what the source on that is.

There doesn't seem to be much cohesion here. In XB you had Mechon and Ether which was basically magic in the hands of the divergent evolution Entia but had to be weaponized to be used by Homs. Here you have Robots and Wizards, Chicken Boy (Though he resembles those birdbandit enemies from Xenoblade) and what looks to be some sort o Necromancer woman. Same goes for the cat people, I swear I saw a elf in one of the trailers too.

Blades are synthetic beings and don't belong to any of the normal races. They're probably shaped by the Driver who summoned them in-canon.

Blades are created from magic crystals by people with special abilities, they can look like whatever they want. And the cat and elf people are both just two races from different Titans.

On a scale of Tatsu to Riki, how do you think he'll rate?
