Never played it, was it really an rpg? Or just used rpg elements like deus ex and prey?

I'll say it's a more linear, third-person Deus Ex but with the freedom of choosing the order of the missions

Bloodlines, it's also the GOAT RPG

It does have fantasy elements though

It's an RPG/Action game. As compared to DX which is Action/RPG.
Remember in Morrowind when you could be right in the face of a mudcrab yet miss with every swing of your sword?
Replace mudcrab with terrorist and sword with shotgun.

Threadly reminder this is the best game created and that Scartler is the best girl

Albatross?

i always thought of fantasy as necessary for RPGs, because in my head cannon the stats that govern the world act like our laws of physics, so living in a world governed by an RPG style system necessarily has to be fantasy at least a bit

but Darklands and Serpent in the Staglands are supposed to be magic-lite medieval settings

heck will always have a special place in my heart

this is £1 in cex is it worth it lads

I don't know anything about bong dollars, so yes.

Yes. It has its share of problems in gameplay department, but it's actually the closest RPG games ever gotten to full choice-consequences concept, and has great writing as expected of an Obsidian game.

That's not even remotely true.

I love how much of an asshole you can be in this game

Did you never play the game? Your aim didn't mean shit if you didn't have points in the gun. It was entirely stat driven. Just like morrowind.

And shotgun is the only weapon that actually hits shit if you don't have any points in it.

Does it really? I never used it, seemed complete shit compared to Pistol or AR depending on if you want loud or soft.

Always Sometimes Monsters

Ironically, shotgun is great for non-lethal playthrough because of knockback and shitty damage. Even its special skill is "knockback everything". So, yeah, it's terrible when you can spec into full martial arts, pistols or assault rifles instead.
But if you blindly went Moscow first thinking you won't need any guns skills since you can kill the first boss stealthily, it's the only thing you can actually hit anything with until you level up.
