Being a witch was a crime way back when, why would being a vamp in a fantasy medieval realm not be a crime?

Stage 4 vampirism in Oblivion was basically going over a week without feeding to the point where if you walked in daylight you'd catch fire and everyone knew you were a vampire. You had to feed regularly to keep up appearances so you wouldn't expose yourself, but it was supposed to be a double-edged sword where if you didn't feed for a while you'd get some massive buffs. In practice, going without feeding just made you die in transit on fast-travel and the buffs weren't worth it.

As shitty as ESO is I like how they handled vampirism in there, where it was an actual debuff. I probably would've liked the vamps in Skyrim a lot more if the story didn't devolve into daddy issues. Serana is one of my most hated characters of any game.
