Throwback to a simpler time, and easily the best music in the series.

If you want something that "holds up", try AC2 or brotherhood

I think it's still the strongest game from a thematic and design standpoint.

The implementation leaves a lot to be desired, yeah, but you can clearly see what the director was trying to do, and if he could've managed it properly, it could've been a masterpiece. It's the first and last game in the series where I can feel true authorship, for better, or worse. something that slowly diminishes throughout the Ezio Saga, and plummeted after that.

wait wasn't ac1 in like the desert mesopotamia or something?

why does it look like it's in italy?

Jerusalem was controlled by the French

>Assassin's Creed
>About Templars vs Shi'a Hashashin
>Only the first tech demo of a game takes place during the Crusades

It got really repetitive and fuck hunting down all those flags. Still told a pretty good story.

I remember when it first came out. We all went to my friend's house and played it on his PS3.
We all watched with our mouths on the floor at how beautiful the graphics were.

The PS3 was still like $600 at that point (shortly after release), so not a lot of people had one.

I replayed it a few months ago on PC. The graphics, gameplay, and story still hold up very well. The audio is super compressed, though, and it shows; it's especially bad for non-main characters.

>It got really repetitive
Also this.

>get target
>beat up target
>get information leading to next target
>repeat

Yea. Just like that shitty game Doom.

>Shoot demon
>Pick up ammo
>Repeat

0/10 game, would not play.

Oh and I always liked it. But first game where I stopped trying to find collectibles, rather I picked them up if I saw them.

>"A few coins. All I ask for is a few coins"
>no monetary system

>/v says that realistic graphics age terribly
>AssCreed went for realistic graphics
>still looks good today
>meanwhile "muh artstyle" games actually aged worse

Where were you when artstyle cucks got completely, utterly, and irrecoverably BTFO the fuck out?

its the only game where you feel like an assassin, not some god-like master swordsman that slices down thousands of guards on your way to stab the comically evil and one-dimensional villain. The targets were all well-thought out and their motivations were clear and made sense. Definitely strongest story from a philosophical/writing standpoint. Obviously the gameplay hasn't aged well do to the rigid, slow free climbing, the shallow combat, the and the lack of assassination methods. Some of the assassinations were pretty heavily scripted, which was annoying as well

it's the best game in the series

I'm pretty sure that's Acre, which was under Crusader control for many years and thus quite European in many ways. The siege destroyed much of the city and houses weren't built to last decades back then.

Right, I guessed Jerusalem because I could only remember Jerusalem and Damascus being in the game.
How the hell did they have so many cities in the first one?

The pre-release trailers were the best part about it. I was so fucking disappointed when I realized it was the same damn thing over and over after the 3rd assassination.

>enemies have complex motivations, fears, and dreams
>killing a target takes a lot of time and preparation to find a good route in and out
>killing people is far less effective than sneaking around and it takes effort to become incognito
>secret files in the modern day segments hint at a terrible dystopia
>historical accuracy takes place over set pieces and gadgetry
>getting all the collectibles is a true achievement that most people won't bother with
>Altair has just the right amount of 'nothing personnel' while still being an interesting protagonist

>AC2

>enemies are evil and want to rule the world because they are evil
>killing a target is as simple as finding out where they're going to be and then hiring people to distract guards
>you can kill a ton of guards quickly and become incognito by walking a block away
>modern day segments have a quirky team of millennial heroes who make witty quips
>fuck history all famous people are your best friends and make you gear that defies everything about how technology worked back then
>here have a map for all the collectibles so instead of exploring the environment you just follow the guide, also finding collectibles is mandatory if you want to finish the story
>Ezio is an idiot who never actually matures over the span of three games and can't do half the shit Altair did without the help of his friends

AC1 was the only great AC game.

If Assassins Creed 1 is so good, why is it the only game in the series I got so bored with that I didn't even finish it? Keep in mind I played it before 2 even was announced.

Lol what's with these AC1 apologists?

That game had you doing the same exact copy and pasted missions throughtout the whole thing and you retards want to hadwave this? Get the fuck outta here with your Just Cause tier garbage game.

>I think it's still the strongest game from a thematic and design standpoint.
Agreed. It's way more repetitive than later entries though. It was really mediocre to play at release and still is.

AC2 and ACIV were more fun. And I haven't played Origins yet, but it also looks much more fun than AC1.

the game is boring as hell. ac2 is way more interesting and probably the best game in the series.

is this a copypasta? because it's dumb and autistic.

I still play it from time to time together with the PSP game, Altair is the best protagonist.
Ass2.. don't even feel like touching it again after I've it 100% when it came out and the rest are even less appealing.
>"ASSASSIN's Creed"
>Only the very first protagonist behaves like an assassin.

Even naruto games make you feel more like an assassin.
