>Game has Angels and Demons >God gives you missions >Enter a town >Objective: Kill them all >"That can't be right, there's children here..." >Objective:GO and attack them, totally destroy everything that belongs to them. Do not spare them; put to death men and women, children and infants, cattle and sheep, camels and donkeys. >Tfw that was a quote from the Bible
Sweet jesus, SMT. Maybe I should've killed God instead
Thomas Gonzalez
its always rough when smt gets you for the first time
Liam Wright
If that god is really the God, even destroying the world doesn't reall matter as He is the one that create and own them anyway. Dying only matter if there is eternal hell that wait. We might be delivering them from this full of sorrow world by slaughtering them all. God have greater plan than what we can comprehend.
^that is the reason why mixing war propaganda and faith is really effective moral booster.
Christian Torres
>The people were corrupted >Have to wipe out the offspring and anything close to them too >Wanting to killing God for that
Landon Hill
Shame has angels >they're fucking impure sluts.
Ian Cook
The thing is that if the Christian god is real then living on Earth is really just a test to see if you're worthy of heaven as you'll spend way more time outside of Earth than on it. Your perspective is too small for the scope of what you were doing. Death isn't the end due to souls. Well, that's assume SMT doesn't have different lore.
David Mitchell
>Implying babies of the corrupted will ever grow up pure Slay them all, my dude
Aaron Evans
God was always killing people in the bible.
He killed people just for doing sacrifices wrong IIRC
Lincoln Watson
It's not even exclusive to Abrahamic God, I have yet to heard of religion that put emphasize on life more than death/after death. Buddhism teach living in the world is a pain the ass, not sure about Hinduism.
Jaxon Nelson
What the fuck kind of dog would do that?
Adam Hall
fuck off to Animeposting should be a bannable offence
Owen Scott
He chilled out after he had a kid.
Landon Peterson
Wasn't there something in Romans about people who've never heard of the Christian God getting a free pass if they weren't complete fuckers? Because if that's a thing, Christians are total jackasses for spreading that shit around, and God's kind of a dick for making them spread it.
William Reyes
>posting anime on an american anime topic image board should be s bannable offense
Robert Wilson
When I was a kid I used to stick my feet in front of the dog's face so it would lick them. Felt good.
Later, I figured out it worked with penises also.
Julian Young
This. Don't forget about how he wanted everyone that didn't worship him killed even though they never heard of him. Kind of a dick move on his part, and kind of feels like he enjoys fucking people over.
Samuel Green
He was dealing with the Jews, to be fair, who were at that point literally just a tribe of bronze age Arabs. You could forgive a little bit of harshness.
Colton Baker
this is Sup Forums not Sup Forums, in fact if a post about videogame in your shitty board I get banned, this are some double standard
Alexander Martin
>final mission >kill god
Ryan Peterson
That's the old testament god who's an asshole.
Jacob Williams
>This is Sup Forums >A complete pile of shit that takes /r9k/ and Sup Forums's cock to the hilt like a bitch. >But not anime though, that's gay unlike my Trump memorabilia and Wojak vore.
Levi Flores
Obligatory WHERE DO YOU THINK YOU ARE.
Robert King
No, this is Sup Forums with a focus on video games.
Adam Collins
>"That can't be right, there's children here..." Why does children always have to come into the equation
Joseph Brooks

Colton Harris
>I have yet to heard of religion that put emphasize on life more than death/after death
Scientism Marxism Hedonism
>killing ancient jews and arabs
And the problem with this is what exactly?
Adrian Brooks
This guy are sick.
Parker Rodriguez
those are philosophies, not religions, since they each lack divine tenets hedonism was a key aspect of several pagan faiths but it's not a religion in its own right
Gavin Martinez
I knew all along that the real shitter that are destroying this board where the weebs, not Sup Forums.

Good thing we have Christianity.

Conflict is more fun.

Don't know about the Bible, but in Dante's Divine Comedy (so according to 14th century Catholicism) those who hadn't heard of the Christian God but hadn't sinned went to purgatory, not heaven. So being a Christian gets you the only chance to get to paradise.
Ethan Watson
>marxism emphasizes life
lmao
Nathan Jenkins
>killing God Then he isn't really God, now is he?
Blake Anderson
thanx b 2 God
Jack Smith
So which video game has the best depiction of Heaven?
Colton Torres
The Divine Comedy is possibly the first recorded instance of biblical fanfiction. I have no idea how so much of it found its way into what people consider christian canon.
Caleb Hughes
>so according to 14th century Catholicism more like according to some jailed cuck writing some fanfiction that places his real life enemies in hell
Landon Rodriguez
Q: How do you kill a vampire? A: Any way you want because they don't exist
Daniel Perry
I'll admit I just assumed Dante wouldn't do something as outrageous as putting millions of people in the wrong place. Could be wrong of course, but I can't be assed to research it properly
Justin Howard
Is the Abrahamic God the strongest fictional character in existence? He's arguably even more powerful than most "real" people due to his influence
Josiah Barnes
I'd argue the Deaths from either Sandman or Discworld are more powerful since both of them are required to see out existence itself when time is up. Both works make it clear that gods aren't exempt, no matter how mighty.
Julian Taylor
Post life rewards is a great feature to promote for a product since peer feedback is practically nonexistent.
Bentley Robinson
There is a bit in Acts I think about "The Unknown God." The idea is that the Christian God is sometimes hidden behind a particular deity in a pantheon, because all humans inherently know God is real. The idea is that some people were already worshipping God, it's just that it got mixed up with all the other paganism/polytheism.
The thing is that with Jesus' resurrection, God stopped excusing that sort of worship, because Jesus' resurrection is supposed to be undeniable evidence. So the loophole was closed long ago at least biblically. It got repurposed when people had to deal with the awkward situation of the Americas, who had no chance of ever becoming Christian before the European contact.
Asher Powell
I don't think they go to Purgatory, they go to Limbo along with the unbaptised babies. It's the least bad part of Hell, with all the pagans Dante liked, but everyone despairs at never being reunited with God.
Aiden Bell
>Not doing the right thing
Ian Rivera
Which SMT? Probably wouldn't have put this in a recent game, right?
Justin Clark
>I'll admit I just assumed Dante wouldn't do something as outrageous as putting millions of people in the wrong place Dante spends most of Inferno putting his political enemies in the deepest circles of Hell.
Anthony Davis
Did I just seriously confuse limbo with purgatory? You're right of course. Apologies, long day.
Which he motivates. It's not like he's saying "Everyone who ate apples goes to hell", he accuses them of a specific sin and the punishment for that sin is hell.
Cameron Gray
Just like your lovelife.
Eli Diaz
>Which he motivates. It's not like he's saying "Everyone who ate apples goes to hell", he accuses them of a specific sin and the punishment for that sin is hell. Which is why I specifically said his political enemies.
Levi Myers

Liam Moore
>stopped excusing
The texts that took place chronologically before the New Testament was completely full of Jews killing people in the area who worship other deities and getting punished for worshiping other deities. I can't think of anything promoting religious tolerance among all 3 Abrahamic faiths, besides Muslims letting the other 2 religions off with a tax.
Joshua Anderson
The jews who wrote the New Testament were heavily, heavily Hellenized, to the point where they had a much better understanding of Greek and Roman cultures rather than their "own." It's why you get so many mistakes like identifying Aramaic as Hebrew, confusing the Pharasees and Sadducees, and all the references to/prophecies from the Old Testament that don't actually make sense in an Old Testament context. Meanwhile, their grasp of Neo-Platonism and other aspects of Classical philosophy is actually realtively educated. The text itself says that God stopped accepting the excuse once Jesus' resurrection occurred, and they must have simply assumed that such an event was recorded in the Old Testament "somewhere" and moved on to what they viewed as more pressing matters.
John Hernandez
>The texts that took place chronologically before the New Testament was completely full of Jews killing people in the area who worship other deities and getting punished for worshiping other deities. You're talking about Old Testament apostasy amongst Jews. The other user was referring to completely different pagan groups of people. The Jews didn't care about the Greeks in Sparta worshipping the Olympiad because they weren't God's chosen people and had no bearing on them. They were killing the religious enemies in their land because the idolatry was keeping them from fully focusing on God. >I can't think of anything promoting religious tolerance among all 3 Abrahamic faiths, besides Muslims letting the other 2 religions off with a tax. When Jesus saves the adulerous woman from stoning by saying that he without sin should cast the first stone, the point is that she's sinful, not the specific sin, and so can be applied to other religions as well.
Jonathan Harris
That's because the here and now can be answered by non-religious things like philosophy or simply man's own nature. Religion paints a picture of what exists beyond mortality and the self, which puts itself at odds with postmodern thought, which seeks to elevate the self to the center focus for each individual.
Gavin Murphy
>The jews who wrote the New Testament were heavily, heavily Hellenized, to the point where they had a much better understanding of Greek and Roman cultures rather than their "own." Paul was a Pharisee and the son of a Pharisee and describes himself as a true blue Hebrew.
Dominic Turner
>Raven wearing Gwen's outfit That's weird
Evan Allen
Which smt?
Jonathan Cruz
No, Paul is recorded as claiming to be a Pharasee, but the theological mistakes also recorded cast that into doubt. The New Testament is littered with errors like that. As an analogy, you might think of a Chinese orphan adopted by an American family who grew up speaking English trying to write a sequel to Journey to the West based on their knowledge of Dragon Ball and other bits of pop-culture. No matter how [x] they claim to be, there are serious mistakes someone actually as familiar with the source would not have made.
Jackson Rogers
I don't think it was so much the jews completely not caring about the Greeks, they undoubtedly looked down upon their pagan practices and didn't do anything about it because they were satisfied with Israel and didn't want to expand beyond it.
I think you're reading too far into that specific parable. As a whole the NT promotes Christianity as the one whole religion and every others are painted as completely wrong and bad for the afterlife. That's not really the promotion of religious tolerance (by our modern standards). It does promote nonviolence, but throughout history not all so called adherents are nonviolent to those they disagree with.
Adam Allen
Me.
