:ITT: Interesting BETA / Cut content & Games

Pic related, early Ocarina of Time artwork that has a completely different Navi, Ganondorf, Impa and Master Sword.

>Zelda had a cape
neat

Originally you had to sneak into hyrule castle through the sewers. After that was changed the sewer was turned into the well

Beta Shiek looks so much cooler than literal Zelda in drag we ended up with

drumping early art i found in other threads

...

...

Weird that every boss is there besides Bongo Bongo (Not counting the mask Ganondorf's Phantom wears)

...

Sweet!

You can find the map from the original Wind Waker trailer, as well as assets from that trailer inside WW's files.

still hurts

I enjoyed that thread yesterday too, OP.

Looking forward to seeing it every day for weeks now.

Why not just make a new Dragon's Dogma anyway?

I like that the Zora actually looks like a Zora instead of a sea elf.

The map restored.

There are overworld sprites for Celebi, Mew and the Legendary dogs in Leaf Green and Fire Red. It's interesting because there may have been planned events for these/you may have encountered the beasts before finding them randomly.

>Game notorious for "missing" content

I don't understand Nintendo

>>Keep this crammed int he game's files
They had to delete content from N64 games because they had limited space. Disc based games had a lot of space, so they never deleted them because they assumed no one would see them. Also, if I understand correctly, removing content can be a headache and fuck with code, so they don't bother that often.

Via emulation, people were able to play/walkthrough the removed Archstone in Demon's Souls. Also, the game has that chainsaw gun from Gears of War in the files too.

>and fuck with code
This. It's easier to just disable flags, triggers, and whatnot for areas than to remove it entirely and risk taking out something critical from the areas in retail. Still, it's a shame that few games with upgraded ports take advantage of the stuff and restore the things, especially a game like WW which is greatly known these days for its removed content.

What are some games that restored cut/beta content? I'm curious.

...

Sims 2 had a few of its expansion stuff based on planned content for the original base game. As I understand, they at least wanted rain to be a thing, but during the development, they had trouble with the rainwater going through the roofs of houses and leaving puddles. So they axed it for the base game and then put it into the seasons expansion. Not a huge example, but you get the idea.

Oh, that's nice.

Wtf that's literally the alien planet map in the EYE campaign

Now if only Sony wouldn't be retarded and change their minds about not letting some of the cut colossi be added into the Shadow of the Colossus remake. I get that many were removed because they were similar to what got in, and others couldn't have viable strategies worked out in time, but you'd think they could do something with that shit now after nearly 13 years. And even if they couldn't make them truly distinct, just having them as optional fights would be fucking rad.

>WW which is greatly known these days for its removed content.
And I finally understand the hateboner around here for Wind Waker. Fucking mongoloids who follow every step of a game's development can't possibly enjoy any game once they know content was cut out of it. Wind Waker was a great adventure going in blind. Dragon's Dogma as well, as incredible as the cut content for that game seemed I feel bad for the people who got attached to it before playing the game when it never even existed.

How are the sales for the PS4/Xbone version doing? Guessing probably not enough to get those fucks at Capcom motivated to just let Itsuno do the fucking sequel already.

Agreed. Isn't there a few removed areas too? I'd also like them to release Demon's Souls again with the cut area.

>via emulation
That video is almost 3 years old, it's running on original hardware. Gibbed was able to re-enable a debug menu leftover in the retail release on a CFW PS3, allowing him to travel to the area after a lot of work restoring it.

That's weird though, given that WW's previews didn't really say much about the game before release. At least nothing the likes of what we learned was cut until after.

Now Twilight Princess, that I can understand some of the resentment for what it changed from. You had what appeared to be an underground dungeon in one area, a crazy chase with Gohma in another, and that spooky forest that appeared to be huge. Not that the final game was bad, but I do recall being disappointed that you couldn't stumble upon a dungeon while fishing as EGM once mentioned.

Oh, my bad. I really hope the PS4 is properly hacked soon. I want to see beta content for Bloodborne and other games.

There's some spots, but most appeared to be just grasslands. The only one that really stood out from what I recall was the one where you fought "The Devil" and how you'd have to hide in the grass to sneak up on it. Most others appeared not that much different from what was seen in the other fights.

Interesting. I have SOC downloading on my PS3 soon. I should probably play it before the remake, no?

Early Nier artwork.
