is this any good? never played a xenoblade game before
Is this any good? never played a xenoblade game before
First one has cooler landscapes
It's got better gameplay and exploration than the first one but the Main Story isn't as compelling and leaves alot to be desired.
If you like MMO-like tab-targeting while Switching between Melee and Ranged weapons and skills, it's pretty enjoyable though the mech combat isn't as satisfying as it could be.
However, I say it's worthy of purchase.
cool exploration, but the combat is awful
it's the best JRPG to date. fact.
Don't listen to this idiot, the combat is perfect.
Fantastic game
Good game, but you should probably have the wiki up while playing so you can look up the locations of items
Great exploration, great gameplay but the story is kinda disappointing though
If you enjoy exploring really well made alien terrain, giant robots, and gameplay that really allows you to freely explore (no invisible walls/good sprint speed/no fall damage), you will love this game. The combat takes some getting used to but overall X is much better than Chronicles.
yes every xeno game is good except saga 2
this, xenoblade's combat is a brainlet filter. Both xenoblade's have better combat than 99% of jRPGs, remember when people try to shit talk a game but can't they attack the combat
It's ok
It loses its charm pretty fast. Especially since the story is so boring. I prefer the first one. I never wanted to put it down once I started.
Better start fast, because in a week it'll be impossible to one hundred percent the achievements
Is it Nintendo first party?
First Xenoblade is better and can be played on Dolphin
Well it's the second best game in the Wii U.
yes, monolith soft is their studio
play both the games, both are emulatable. Xenoblade is the top tier jRPG series at the moment with the only thing possibly contesting it being persona 5 which plays nothing like it
Looks like shit, never leave a game up to PC fags, they somehow manage to make it look worse than the original version while claiming it's better.
>720p on a laptop with upscaled textures looks worse than 480p on a wii
really makes you think
Calling XCX emulatable is a stretch with how many issues the game still has. t. has been waiting for the cemu devs to fix it for years.
If you play it OP, remember to turn off almost all UI elements out of battle. Especially the enemy indicators. When just exploring, I'd turn off the minimap as well, you can turn that back on when you need it.
Are they shutting down the online?
How does the emulation work without the WiiU tablet? Is it in some sort of additional window?
It's good game. I recommend starting with the first one though
You can either have switch screen to table set to a key like tab or spacebar or you can have both windows open at once if you've got a multi-monitor set up.
Your mouse can work as a stylus.
Why? They don't connect in any meaningful ways.
That's like saying you should play Xenogears before playing Xenosaga.
...you should play xenogears before playing xenosaga
also you should play blade 1 before X because:
1. XCX throws a shit ton of mechanics at you, some you might not even understand until well into the game, XC1 is a simpler game that'll give you good experience for XCX since XCX is directly built on top of XC, unlike XC2 that remakes the system
2. movement in XC1 will feel slow as shit (unless you max quickstep gems but then your combat abilities suffer) and combat will seem more simpler/less depth if you play XCX first
Would have been 10/10 if it had better story and more consistent music. The soundtrack has a bunch of amazing tracks, but you end up hearing bad rap and pop more often.
but that is to say, you should still play it. definitely a strong 8/10, combat is fun if you like customizing your character builds, exploration is fun as fuck, you play it for the world Mira not most else
I want them to port it to switch desu
It is. If you go ahead and play it, I'd recommend not rushing to get your skell, or at least spend some time without it after you get it.
I've been enjoying it but I've yet to understand how the combat is better than XC1. Please explain for a brainlet like myself.
>XCX throws a shit ton of mechanics at you, some you might not even understand until well into the game
It comes with a full game manual built into the menu. You merely have to press start (or plus? Whatever the Wii U called it) and scroll down to the 'manual' to learn anything you don't understand.
>movement in XC1 will feel slow as shit
It should, XC1 is mindnumbingly slow if you play it legit. If you're going to play XC1 do yourself a favor and emulate it and anytime you have to run around, especially when doing those asinine fetch quests where you have to run from one side of alcamoth to the other over and over again or run up and down that fucking tree you can just hit the uncap framerate key and play it at 400% speed. Or use Gecko codes to modify your movement speed by 5x or something if your PC sucks.
I guess it's pretty much similar, XBX might be overall deeper but at the same time it lacks some stuff that made XC1 fun. Also a lot of the toughest fights in XBX can only be won in skell, and skell combat is extremely simple compared to on foot-combat sadly
The fact that you even have to open the manual speaks volumes
Chronicles X2 when
>far more arts combos
>secondary cooldown adds variety/more decision making
>soul voices increases said variety/decision making
>ranged/melee weapon affecting cooldowns
>overdrive far more involved than chain attack (you can break the game with overdrive but it's still not as bad as breaking XC1 with topple locking)
>despite having worse combat than ground, skells add variety
>WAY more party commands
XCX's combat only falters in comparison to XC when it comes to directly controlling your AI allies, but that's no enough to drop XCX below XC.
That said I'm incredible excited for XC2, it seems to have the decision making/variety of XCX but with the party involvement of XC1
Why? I think the way X does it far better than Blade where it'd stop you and force a tutorial on you. In X if you don't understand something you can just look it up on your own rather than the game telling you things you already know constantly.
X drops tutorials on you too though, about as much if not more than 1. It just has way more mechanics
breaking the game with overdrive was fun as fuck, OD made your cooldowns basically non-existant, and if you played right you were in constant OD, so you could just spam the arts that made you invincible
meh it was fun at first but got really stale quick. I preferred doing non-optimal shit like speed demon lancer
>X drops tutorials on you too though
Yeah and they're usually like one screen and only if you have them enabled in the menu.
In blade roughly half that game is handholding and tutorials explaining everything to you in agonizing detail. A replay is fucking hell for this reason.
what are you on about? the tutorials are one screen in XC1
Nah, the entire fight is a damn tutorial they just obfuscate it. They don't take the training wheels off until after mechonis core.
I don't understand, are you pretending to be retarded here? are you talking about stuff like metal face in colony 9? There was an entire chapter in XCX dedicated to being a tutorial for for waypoints/tyrants
No its not, and gets worse when skells are added to the equation
I'm talking about the whole first half of Xenoblade being a lead you by the nose tutorial. They don't actually let you play the game until after mechonis core.
X on the other hand takes the training wheels off after the second(?) mission which is like an hour into the game.
What are you on about? Do you count shulk getting new monado arts as tutorials or something
training wheels go off the moment you step on bionis leg. No amount of arbitrary meme standards you've devised in your head changes this
Anyone actually looking forward to xc2 party management? You can customize them with any weapon yet they still remain unique like the first game
I think you really should replay blade you obviously don't remember it well. That game is constantly telling you things you already know, childproofing itself and reminding you how you're supposed to be playing it. The training wheels are fully in place until you finish mechonis core when they finally decided you're at the point where you know what you're doing.
really good but doesn't justify buying a fucking WiiU
no, I think you should. Unless you played the 3DS version and that changes some stuff you're pulling stuff out of your ass
I think it is. I had like 400 hours in it by the end.
afte XC2
exact opposite, actually
buying the best console of its generation? with the best games? okay, buddy
These names are getting fucking confusing.
I played the 3ds version, don't remember any excessive tutorials post tephra cave
Frankly, I think the game is kinda a mess. It tried to do something different, but there are so many fucking systems in this game that just never really clicked for me.
It's just systems upon systems upon systems, and a billion sidequests, and a billion party members, and a billion things to do, but none of them were very interesting or engaging to me. I got to give it credit for trying to be different, but personally I don't think it really worked.
>exploration is fun as fuck, you play it for the world Mira not most else
This.
