Tbqh senpai, the story is only good when you expect it to be a shit pokemon story.
It's still a good game, but if you tell people its the best thing ever they'll get disappointed
It's one of my favorite games ever but i still have to admit that the soundtrack kinda carries it.
That’s a weird way to spell “Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg”
If anything it gets overblown praise among the pokeyman crowd, particularly for the story, which is okay at best and only stands out because 99% of pokeyman games barely even tend to have any story
Repetitive as fuck to be honest.
Even though I must say that at least doesn't suffer from the "lol let's put a 99 floor dungeon there and there" syndrome like the first ones.
Played most of them but as I stated, after Red/Blue team it got stale pretty fast.
>Underrated
Everyone and their mother seems to love Explorers of Sky whenever its brought up. Now, for an actual underrated game:
>Gameplay wasn't nearly as bad as people made it out to be
>Quality of life improvements
>By far the best story in the entire Pokemon franchise, entering the 'Good and not just good by pokemon standards territory'
>Excellent soundtrack
Also, Super is the best in the PMD series since its the only game where the gameplay was pretty good. 100%'d that game as opposed to dropping it after the post story events were over like with Gates and Sky, and I didn't even get that far with Rescue Team.
I don’t understand what it is about Super and Gates gameplay that I can’t get into, I absolutely loved the gameplay of the first two installments, and it’s also slightly hard to go back to with the set moves thing
But once I get past that I get re-addicted to the presentation and gameplay all over again. I don’t know what it is, but Sky has the best gameplay for me by far
Don't forget the deer puss. Everybody likes the deer puss.
Thank you user. I hate how it seems like I'm the only one that enjoyed all the four main games. In my opinion the best ranking is:
Super = Sky > Gates = Rescue.
Rescue is one of those first games that does a lot of interesting things but also some weird things, many of which never returned in sequels. It also has a lot of content but a weaker story. Sky is one of those games that is really good all around. It pulls you into the game and only has a few flaws. Gates' only real flaw is lack of content. All of it's issues stem from that problem. The game has one of the best stories though and brought a lot of quality of life improvements. I also find the music and 3DS graphics to be much better, especially in dungeons. Finally, Super takes most things from Gates as well as some new stuff like wands and emeras. It has some of the most varied gameplay in the series although has a weaker story/pacing issues. I just wish it kept things like detours and mysteriosity, among other Gates' elements.
Still playing but it seems pretty fun for a person who isn't much into RPG games. I never see it talked about though.
Is the story good? I am a very prejudiced guy and this shit looks like furries with mechas.
This.
It isn't underrated, it's a fucking Pokemon game. What blew people away is that it's actually good: with excellent music, a well told story, memorable characters and scenarios, a plethora of content, and enough grind to satisfy any autist.
I hold that EoS is the best Pokemon game, but I'm nostalgic for the PMD series since it was so formative for my gaming experience and in the end it is only a Pokemon game.

I think the one which had the biggest impact on me was the original Blue Rescue Team. With low expectations I was expecting generic kiddieshit, but in the end it showed a lot of authenticity and heart.

Each one of the games managed to pull that off, whatever the failings of their writing or pacing. And of course the music was strong enough to make every beat of the story memorable.
Soundtrack's easily the best part of any PMD game.
>go from amazing sprite graphics to worse then ps1 3d models
I fucking hate the 3DS
>worse then ps1 3d models
Is this the new "ps2 graphics"?
But the dungeons looked horribly drab
3DS graphics are generally really bad though. Shit hardware with shit screen that would be many times better if it sticked to sprites.
Hell, the only games with good graphics on 3DS aren't even Nintendo.
I liked them
same thing happened to fire emblem
Blue team is better and Ultima Underworld is the most underrated game in history
OP as always is a faggot
They're certainly not as bad as the PS1. Heck, even the NDS was. At least the NDS could draw a polygon without its vertices jittering or its textures warping.
UU is well recognized, at least among people who know their shit
