To get a decent GC emulator you would need a bit more power, and thus a smaller profit margin.

The closest you could get to that is the nvidia shield tv, a $200 box that uses the same hardware as the nintendo switch.

You can get a one board computers for around 80 bucks that can emulate gamecube games.

Now imagine doing it in large scale production, scaling back components enough to play GC games in native res with an official emulator and I'm sure you could get that 80 bucks down quite a bit.

I'd argue though, besides for the Mario party Series, all of the mario games are incredibltt different. Sure, it's the same IP, but Sunshine != Strikes != Golf != Part != Melee != Luigi's Mansion. Like, yes they are all Mario, but none of those games are remotely alike and, imo, are all standout games in general, not just GC exclusives.

NES mini had 30 games.
SNES mini had 21 games.
N64 mini will probably feature 11 games.

I'm in full agreement that Nintendo can make solid as fuck gameplay across many different genres/games, but their art and character design is severely lacking in terms of being similarly interesting and unique. That said, they're classics. They're well established. The characters themselves have tons of opportunity for gameplay elements to be attached to them. And most importantly, they fucking sell well. So I get the rationale from Nintendo.

Really all I'm saying is I think it's a little bit tiring to have tons of majorly fun games from Nintendo just be "Mario does x" "Mario and the gang does Y" "Mario's brother does Z"

Resident Evil 4 was exclusive to the gamecube for a pretty long period of time, user.
That's like saying Okami isn't a ps2 game just because it came out on the Wii years later.

It was part of the Capcom Five, only ported to recoup lost costs for being a GC exclusive.

For the prize of NES or SNES Minis you could buy the original consoles, flash carts for them and have 90% of their game library available to you instead of just 20 games per system.
