VideoGameDunkey's response when asked about his thoughts on the current state of gaming

>"i feel like it's better now than ever"

do you agree or disagree with this and why ?

I think you should fuck off and die.

agree

I love lootboxes and draconian moderators in online games that ban you for using built in taunts or any form of banter

wow you're hard

>draconian moderators in online games that ban you for using built in taunts or any form of banter

what game ?

just curious if i could laugh and rage at a youtube video of this

why are you still here?

>l-leave my secret club!

sad!

There's an insane amount of games coming out nowadays but there's less innovation and real dedication to making anything truly outstanding. Case in point the rabid frothing-at-the-mouth wave of fanatics who think Witcher 3 is the greatest game of all time but it's just the same open-world medieval rpg trope garbage for the most part

...

The Golden Age has passed but it's definitely not as shitty as Sup Forums makes it out to be

Agree
Not only is it easier and cheaper than ever to play any game ever released, but good games are still coming out.
Also the barrier to entry for developing a game are lower than ever, meaning we're getting more games with a larger varierty

>ban you for using built in taunts or any form of banter
Overwatch

who?

Did this man never own a PS2?

> the barrier to entry for developing a game are lower than ever, meaning we're getting more games with a larger varierty

no it means good games are lost in the swamp of garbage that seems to be todays games

i think gaming is quite shit now. devs are just releasing remakes and going "back to our roots" with reboots

i liked PS1 days when there were tons of new IPs being released

I'm not quite sure what the point of this WebM is? Is it supposed to make fun of him? That's pretty standard behavior for any host of literally any event, they're not always "on" 24/7.

Wait a minute, that guy's white? Why does he talk like a black person? From the way he talks I always imagined him as being some cool black guy who really likes games.

>complete rubbish coming out left and right
>increasingly worse dlc practices
>better than ever
If you're making money off it, sure. Not for the average consumer though.

doesn’t his girl have a huge ass?

and 1/10 of those IPs were worth playing, the rest were dogshit

>Games for everyone, any genre, any difficulties, almost any niche is filled
>Games are now getting cheap very fast, unless you are nintendo

I'll say we're definitely in a very good time, much much better than when nintendo opened the flood gates with its Wii which has started the shovelware era.

We're definitely in a good time

Dunkey has a huge ass.

>you will never be this mad about ecelebs like this user

that's what I thought, this guy lied to me somehow

Dunkey looked numbed out on that podcast. He was really out of his element. I mean he's right, I guess, if you're a nintendofag.

It's true. If you think the state is bad you just are looking at AAA titles, you need to look at the big picture.

Things that are better than say 2007:
- graphics
- digital distribution / discounts

Things that are worse:
- everything else

Buying a game is just the entry fee now. You need accounts and platforms like uplay for everything. Aesthetics are completely ruined by microtransactions for cosmetics. And I don't feel that gameplay wise things have improved in general.

no, she looks like a wallace and gromit character.

Games themselves are doing great so long as you don't only play popular AAA heavily marketed shit

The industry is still sucking shit

nostalgiafags BTFO

>Things that are worse:
>- everything else

Do you only play AAA games or something? Indie game certainly are better and more plentiful these days

the shittiest AAA garbage is shittier than it's ever been. but I think that if you push past that and dig a little deeper, he's right. dunkey plays a lot of weird indies

he, like me, was probably just too busy thinking about how shit Ethan and Hila are compared to prime H3H3

Yeah but the Wii expanded the market for video games considerably

To address OP, I think I agree. It’s hard to see it that way, since we only focus on the bad when we’re in the moment and remember the good when the moment passes, but if you look at the numbers the industry is well off. Lots of people playing, ease of access on mobile, AAA games are budget behemoths with some awesomely high production value. Yeah there’s bullshit skinner box stuff, but it’s nothing new for the industry. Folks who complain about that shit are either young or have poor memories since nothing can out-jew the arcade in its heyday. Those games were purposely designed to drain your pocket. At least now it’s just annoying but ultimately insignificant nickel-and-dime schemes

From a technological standpoint, sure, but I feel like true creativity and originality peaked in the PS2/Gamecube/Xbox gen. That was also the last gen before internet integration really took hold in consoles, so exploitative publisher/developer practices weren't really a thing yet either. The controversy surrounding Oblivion horse armor was sort of the canary in the coalmine there.

>game comes out on the PS1. Has pre-final-boss post-game and sometimes a NG+
(Valkyrie Profile, Star Ocean 2, Parasite Eve II)
>some games go a step further and have a NG+ that sometimes leads to a new ending
(Parasite Eve)
>multiple completely different routes that are 100% influenced by player choice
(Dragon Valor, TO:LUCT)
>with gameplay that is completely innovative and is never done since then or ever again
(Silent Bomber, Bushido Blade)
>or are so unique that games years later still borrow their influence from them
(Vagrant Story, Metal Gear Solid)

Meanwhile the most popular indie games end up biting on previous games (Axiom Verge, Stardew Valley) and almost all AAA games sell post-game that used to be included for free, as DLC you can buy in a season pass. RPGs as a whole have substantially less nuances in their combat in comparison to 6th gen RPGs. (VII and soon VIIVR) FPS's come out with absolutely boring weapons (Wolfenstein 2).

So fuck no. I do not agree with him. At all. And why would I take seriously a man who made a significant portion of his youtube career on the back of League of Legends.

Can't believe this guy isn't black. I feel betrayed now, will never look at his videos the same again (probably will never watch them again either).

he's a retard who loved LoL and never played a good fps in his life.

Giantbomb says the same thing. It's just a meme.

honestly, same

Game devs now are creatively and morally bankrupt Jews.

It's infected almost every corner of the industry; even devs who used to be awesome are now niggardly cunts.

It is better, quit falling for the meme AAA games that just exist to siphon more money from the dupes

All I know is I've played like 3 games that was released this year, and none of them have left an impression on me.

stop making threads about this faggot.

Technically yes due to the fact that all the games you loved you can play on an emulator for free.

If you mean modern game industries direction, its up for debate due to the fact that there are many indie games and a few good games that people view as masterpieces but also business strategies that are very scummy that it seems like video games are just going to be mixed in with pachinkos.

Well I guess it's easier to find good games, but most new ones are shit.

>implying the old days weren't full of their own dogshit games hastily thrown together by companies taking advantage of unsavvy consumers.

wow...wtf she actually does.. i never actually thought of that

He has good taste honestly.

You nostalgia fags need to fuck off and find a new hobby, the market has spoken and the industry caters to us now.

i think it's better now than ever.

>be a kid in the early 00s
>most games you can only get excited for are the big releases
>middle tier devs producing tons of average experiences
>indie gaming hadn't taken off yet so smaller games were nearly non existent

and now i have tons of games that i am interested in that i don't have to go to a brick and mortar to buy and if i feel like it i can give feedback direct to the devs. and if i want more of the game then there might be expansions or expansion sized dlc available to enjoy.

basically i feel like now i'm spoilt for choice and there are hundreds of devs who i can give money to and i'm no longer restricted to playing shitty AAA games (thank god)

Who?

True but the ratio was better.

If back then there was a good game for every 50 bad games then today it's one good game for every 100 bad games.

Though they are shitty in different ways. Back then a shitty game was almost near unplayable, these days a shitty game is just a copy paste job with no thought or passion behind it. Playable, but so fucking boring it's unbelievable and sold with one of the most offensive and greedy business models in all of the entertainment industry.

He's not wrong.
It is only the AAA level and among the hipster "indies" where everything is going to shit, which is also a good thing as it is blowing up in the major studios' faces and driving a lot of garbage indieshit out.

As a whole, the rest of video games are doing great.

there are more shitty games today but it's a lot easier to avoid them and find the good games.

You just ran into less shitty games into the past because at the very least they needed enough publisher backing to make it to a store shelf. Anyone can throw things on the current app stores.

>middle tier devs producing tons of average experiences
God I miss those games so fucking much. It was there you usually found the gold, the games that were niche but still had a decent budget to realize a lot of it's ideas. Nowadays the budget has been increased tenfold for most non-indie games, and due to it the average experiences have also been increased tenfold.

I disagree, user, and here's why
RRRRRRRREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

He's completely right, only stunted manchildren stuck with the memories of their PS2 games will disagree. If you're a serious gamer with niche taste, or a entry level casual, there's never been a better time. I'm absolutely swamped by CRPGs, strategy games, Metroidvanias and offbeat, unique games.

If you're arguing that there wasn't bookshelves of derivative garbage in every gen you would be factually wrong.

Go back and play the Midway catalogue. It's mostly shit, and stuff so derivative it makes Ubisoft look good.

Nothing to be excited about nowadays.
Everyone's become a hack and con artist in one way or another.

Disagree. It's much harder to find good games, but they are still there. The main problem is the lack of visibility on said good games.

Why spread misinformation like this? Do you work for Valve? Or are you just a sad piece of shit? Genuinely asking. I'll take my answer off air.

Yes. Now you can find and play any game you want and there is always will be something to play from old games like Wizardry to Call of Duty: WW2, an upcoming first-person shooter video game developed by Sledgehammer Games for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Windows.

Set during World War II, it tells the story of an unbreakable brotherhood of common men fighting to preserve freedom in a world on the brink of tyranny. From the beaches of Normandy to the Hürtgen Forest, experience a dramatic story highlighting some of the most dramatic and iconic moments of World War II as a young soldier, Ronald "Red" Daniels, who is facing the unforgiving reality of war alongside his brothers in arms

This shit always gets a good laugh out of me. Thanks for that, user. I was kind of having a shitty work day.

His videos contradict that statement. He whines about not being able to talk shit in games without getting banned and he makes fun of overpriced collector editions that add nothing.

shittalking isn't the entire world and collectors editions aren't even video games

>shittalking isn't the entire world
>posts on Sup Forums
Nigger most of us ended up here because other forums of discussion are too restrictive.

it's better now than it was a few years ago but ever? i don't think so

overtrash

(i have the game but it's filled absolute shit)

I agree, a lot of things that are now taken for granted were innovated during a very brief window of time. It feels like more original and inventive games came out during the latter part of the 90s than in the past 17 years.

Can't call people what they are anymore because else you're 'toxic'. Collector editions out the ass for prices that insane. Some don't even include the game anymore. And yes they are still video games. More and more freedom gets taken away and more ways to get everybody's money keep popping up everywhere.

Last two points describe every generation, ever. First three have been around for much longer than the PS1. Take off your nostalgia googles, you 20 something manchild.

Kill yourself for caring about this faggot. You're as big as a loser as the sad fucks who donate to streamers

>And yes they are still video games
since when were a bunch of knick-knacks video games

I feel the same way towards Mario Odyssey. It tries to do too many things all at once, and it just feels like this disconnected mess.

Right now you can play pretty much every game that has ever come out. Even if the ratio of shit to good games was 10:1, the future would constantly be better as long as you had access to older games.

Since they are editions of video games.

>better now than ever
>lots of good genres are dead
>LOTS of good studios and franchises are dead
>diversity hiring is commonplace
>lots of actually good devs left the industry
>cancerous business practices everywhere, loot boxes in single player
>most devs trying to follow currently popular genres, leading to oversaturation

I agree that you are a fucking faggot

nice strawmanning faggot fuck off and die with your e celebs

Why does this fucking casual spic keep shilling himself here?

btw its me, videogamedunkey

spaghetti and meatballs
