Bought a 1080

>bought a 1080
>"time to play some fucking vidya!"
>there are literally no games released in the past 2 years worth playing
RUSED AGAIN

seriously though is there any cool games with great graphics to test this bad boy out with? preferably on sale right now

Doom 2016.

Otherwise, no.

Crysis __lol__

>doom

a potato can run doom

AC Origins

Seriously? DOOM is not a graphically demanding game. 1050 Ti's run it at ultra/60ps with ease

Black Desert Online is neat and demanding on higher settings. Not a good game by any stretch of the imagination, but it could be a decent timesink.

>buy fuck expensive top of the line GPU
>with no clue what to use it for

dumb retarded american

>american
its even worse
swedish

just play your usual geimus at 4k

Decent games, that will make good use of your 1080:

Rise of the Tomb Raider
Witcher 3
Hitman 2016
Doom 2016
Shadow of War
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided
BoTW

If you like fps games Squad is pretty good while at the same time GPU demanding. But I agree with you, there aren't many good games to play nowadays.

I was about to order a Vega 64 today when I stopped to think and realized there isn't a single game I play that would realistically demand such power.

On the other hand I really want to upgrade.

>not pubg
eh..

Pirated the hell out of everything and find for yourself, worked for me with my 1060, but it's leagues behind yours.

>playing PoopG

like OP i bought a new pc and tried all these "games" that have been made within the past couple years and only pubg and ds3 were any good tbqh

>bought a 1080
Not waiting for 1070ti

Waiting for that cyberpunk2077 release, maybe EU has banned cryptomining at that point and I can afford a good gpu.

Should have spent that money on a ps4 pro.

why is it named 1080 is it for 1080p streaming

Total War:Attila,Warhammer 1 and 2
Homeworld

Batman Arkham Knight can be really pretty

>not waiting for Volta
>he didn't see the new benchmarks for the Volta on geekbench

It's fucking insane. Almost 100% improvement in raw compute.

JustWait™

Shadow Warrior 2 is really good looking and its on sale rn.

imagine Borderlands but less shitty, and with melee combat, not as good as the first one, but not a bad looter-shooter either.

Honey Select

>>not waiting for Volta
At least 6 months from now. Nvidia and AMD will release something before that and waiting™ is Sup Forums tier awful advice.

luxmark.info/top_results/LuxBall HDR/OpenCL/GPU/1

>over 100% improvement over Titan XP

what do you have now?

Fuck off Sup Forums I'm tired of being told to wait.
I waited for Pascal, I waited for Vega, I waited for Coffee Lake, now I'm gonna be waiting for Volta?
I need an upgrade NOW.

OP doesn't have any pressing needs and buying anything this late into the cycle is just stupid.

Silly user, PC is exclusively for console emulation.

PUBG is more processor intensive than anything.

>need

For what?

wow great. You can wait for the next titan card to be released.. so you can wait for the next flagship desktop card can be released later on that'll beat the workstation card in games.

Great.

>bought a 1080

If that's your logic then Volta first gen is even too soon for him.

380X, but a 144hz Freesync monitor. I can't reach above 70fps on any of the games I play even at low settings because of my resolution 3440x1440.

>Just built my gaming PC a couple of weeks ago.
>Tested out a whole bunch of (relatively) recent games and marveled at the graphics.
>Ended up just going back to my old favourites or playing games that just ran like shit on consoles.
Replaying Bayonetta at the moment. I've beat it on Non-Stop Infinite Climax before but this time I think I'm going for 100% completion and pure platinum runs. The nude mod is shit but it's still a nice novelty.
I'm also waiting for Dark Souls to go on sale so I can play it on PC. I never finished it when I played it on the 360 s actually finishing it at a good resolution without framerate drops will be nice. Plus, I can use the online functions and see what that's all about.

>mfw im still gaming on a 7770
heh...

For framerates higher than dogshit. I didn't buy a 144hz monitor for nothing.

nice job, jackass

Apparently you did, since you didn't have a card that could drive it.

If you want 1440p or 144hz might as well just hold off until next years ti version instead of opting in to a 1080ti which cant 1440p or 144hz all games

why did you get such a monitor
did 4chain ruse you?

I had to get one eventually and I would upgrade eventually, dumb dumb.

The point is that I'm going to buy a GPU no matter what, but is it really worth waiting a few months for the new line of cards or should I just pull the trigger now.

>You don't have a powerful GPU so don't buy a good monitor
>You don't have a good monitor so don't bother with a powerful GPU
The never ending cycle.
Eventually you have to buy either or, or both at the same time, but I chose to wait on the new GPU after seeing how well games ran on my current GPU.

don't forget to play ds with the dsfix mod

No, because I wanted it.
I actually like it a lot. It's IPS and has great response time. When I play games at low resolution to get high framerates everything is so smooth and nice.
I wanted to upgrade from a shitty 22 inch 1080p 60hz monitior and I just did it. I don't regret my purchase at all.

People on Sup Forums tell everyone not to buy ultrawides, but I don't see why. It's a great format, especially for games.

>Shadow of war
>Destiny 2
>Elite dangerous if you wanna DSR to the max
I know your pain user. I got a 1080 too recently and I've barely tried it out. I'm also pretty bottlenecked by my CPU though.

>People on Sup Forums tell everyone not to buy ultrawides, but I don't see why. It's a great format, especially for games.
Going to Sup Forums for gaming advice is your first mistake. Going to Sup Forums is the second one.

I didn't ask for advice, just lurked to see what people posted.

There's a very vocal majority of people saying anything wider than 16:9 is a meme, but all the people with ultrawides seemed to love their displays. After being on a dual monitor setup I wanted to still be able to do work stuff fine with lots of horizontal screen space, and I saw no point in buying two monitors when I could just get an ultrawide with all the features I wanted.

The goal is to get a card that can last. I bought a 770 when it came out and it became dated way too easy, Had to get a 970 since garbage like far cry 3 lagged on my 770. 970 has been great for 3 years.

I think a 1080ti is a decent card but with VR, 1440p, 144hz+ I think it would be wise to grab next years 80 or ti card.

>OP doesn't have any pressing needs and buying anything this late into the cycle is just stupid.
Depends, OP didn't say where or how he got it. If you're only interested in new & cutting edge sure, but late in the cycle you can often find stuff that's on super bargain, you know that the major flaws have been worked out and the drivers are more mature, etc.

If you don't actually have a need for top power, then the big question is value, and that has nothing to do with cycle only price/performance. If OP found a good enough deal then the 1080 would be the right card. I'm going to keep my eyes out on Black Friday for example, precisely because it's getting late in the cycle the chances are a lot higher then usual that someone will be looking to get rid of """obsolete""" inventory or for that matter some retard will be looking to offload their nearly-new card in order to help raise funds for some other piece of bling. I don't desperately need an upgrade right now from my card despite it being 4 gens old, but if I saw a 1080 for

>streamerbait and the worst souls
That is some incredibly abysmal taste you got there, senpai.

It's the same Sup Forums that shills mechanical keyboards and shitty OS's.

>buying anything this late into the cycle is just stupid.

bingo.

>buy 1080ti
>it doesn't work well with my fx 8350

life is suffering

Mech keyboards are nice though.

you're an idiot if you really need to ask this. enjoy being dumb.

No shit retard, that CPU is bottlenecking the fuck out of you.
You should have upgraded your CPU first.

Unfortunately, the 8350 is a dated cpu, I upgraded to a 6700k and it was easily double the speed of my 8350. I was honestly surprised but I guess it was just a shit budget amd cpu all this time.

nah the cpu is at 4.8ghz 8 core it's the gpu that's bad i returned it and got a r9 380 much better now

Destiny 2
FIFA 18
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided
Hitman
Nier: Automata
Dark Souls 1-3
Nioh (soon)
Final Fantasy XV (soon)
Final Fantasy XIV
Marvel: Ultimate Alliance (both games)
CS:GO
DotA 2
Battlefield 1
SW: Battlefront 2
AC: Origins
Emulating TLoZ: BotW and Demon Souls
Project Cars 2
ARMA 3
Forza Horizon 2
Mortal Kombat X
Injustice 2 (soon)
Civilization VI
Overwatch
Warhammer: Total War

There are so many games to play on PC you pleb. You either like playing video games or you don't. Nobody is that retarded to spend $500+ on a GPU without being excited to play things in particular.

I've been considering getting an XR3501 for months, but the costs and lack of support though

Some of what you listed are cpu intensive or does not really need a 1080 unless you want to go 4k.60+fps

No, the 8350 is very dated.
You would see a massive performance increase if you bought a Ryzen 1500/1600/1700 and even a bigger one if you went for an i5 8600 or i7 8700.
Even an i7 7700 would be a massive boost.

not being cpu intensive wasn't a criteria

why would you not want to go 4k.60+fps?

>Lack of support
Where? I have zero problems running games at ultrawide resolutions, even old games have plenty of fixes to make them run at those resolutions, it's very rare that I'll run into a game that refuses to work at 21:9.

You still have much more screen space outside of games too, there's no reason not to get a 21:9 monitor.
If you have doubts about ultrawide support for any game, check them here wsgf.org

Not him but my 8GB 1080 runs it at 120fps on ultra so there's that.

But the 1080 can't even 4k 60+fps all those games listed so...?

>that will make good use of your 1080:
>BOTW, an emulated game
pinhead

>GPU thread
Because if OP has that cash for 4k, he would not get a 1080 but a 1080ti and he will not ask for sale promos.

Ashes of the Singularity or Warhammer TW2.

You won't even be able to maintain 60fps.

RUSED AGAIN

you can buy a 1060/1070or even a 290 and be set for years, if you need to upgrade after that you'll be old enough not to be playing any video games.

way to walk in to a thread late and be completely wrong.

i see...

Then which games do you suggest instead?

fpbp

Why do people do this? You've put the cart before the horse. You should only upgrade if there's this game that's just been released and it looks good and you want to play it but you're underspecced. By the time that happens these days, tech moves on and you get better components a lot cheaper.

I used a 2002 pre-built for 10 years, upgrading here and there. It was only until I saw something that I liked the look of that I got around to building a new system to play it. If I was some kind of razer twink like you and only cared about having specs just to show off, I would have wasted thousands throughout the decade.

In a a couple of months that 1080 will be thrashed by a 2060.

And in a couple of months after that you're 2060 will be trashed by vega 2.0.

>wasted thousands throughout the decade
That's not a lot of money throughout a whole decade. You only live once so why play with aged hardware ever?

Because then you get retarded faggots like OP who don't know why they buy things with their money.

I upgraded to a 1070, because the 1070 was at a reasonable price and my 770 started to show its age. I bought it on Release month, so the 770 gave me alot of fun.
The rest of the PC has already been upgraded last year and the GPU was my weakest part

He could buy Tekken 7. It needs more players.

Got a pair of 1080 TI's... spend most of my time playing on my Switch...

Feels bad mane...

PUBG if you have friends to play it with.
