I just can't get over how much fun this game is. That's what it all comes down to. FUN.
And for what it's worth, it's only easy during the main story which isn't even half the game. Once you open up the endgame and fully unlock all kingdoms there's a lot of challenge. If you don't play this, you're really missing out, no matter what company you're a "fan" of. This is pure ludo.

I mean, i agree that it's some mindless fun, but in order for a game to be really engaging and really fun it needs to be at least somewhat challenging, to me personally at least. I don't know where you got the idea that the post game is challenging, the game is never challenging. It's a complete safe space of gaming. Honestly, my biggest issue with this game - and it's a big one - is that the moons just aren't a satisfying main collectible. The main collectible in a collectathon should feel satisfying to get but they're almsot Korok seed tier.
>Talk to someone to get a moon >Use ground pound on suspicious place to get a moon >Jump on top a little thing to get a moon >Ground pound in completely random areas to get a moon (These are supposedly the """well hidden""" ones)
Meh.
Still a 7/10 game overall

How many moons do you have? Are you sure you're in the post game?
I find them much more enjoying than korok seeds, especially postgame has plenty of challenging ones. Also, have you considered that you have just become better at video games? SM64 and Sunshine are not as hard as you might remember them to be.
Joseph Evans
But all videogames are for children. >inb4 mature ratings and adult marketing All for children, they eat that shit up. Why do you think ads for toys use teens and young adults? Vidya is a childish hobby, you may as well enjoy it instead of thinking you're a """mature""" gamer
Sebastian Mitchell
The only challenge is hunting down straggling moons, which is more of a pain in the ass than anything.
Jeremiah Walker
Not saying SM64 or sunshine were hard either, but at least most collectibles in those games had some kind of dedicated challenge designed around obtaining them, whereas suns are just quantity, quantity, quantity. I mean, they're more enjoyable than Korok seeds overall, but there are still a lot of moons that are just the same as Korok seeds. Using Ground Pounds on a suspicious looking place for the 20th time is pretty much the same amount of good game design as placing a rock in a stone circle for the 20th time. And by that i mean that it's not good. Many reviews point out just how many moons there are in a game, as if it was solely a positive thing, and i guess that was Nintendos goal, but i'd prefer a quarter the amount of moons over what we have, with some actual effort put into them
Christian Butler
oops. meant moons not suns in my first sentence.
Luke Taylor
The core gameplay of Splatoon has and always will be amazing, but Splatoon 2 isn't a proper sequel and Nintendo not only reintroduced idiotic decisions from the first game, but included new ones as well. And the online is fucking even worse than the first one. No game has ever made rage as hard as Splatoon has. I fucking hate how hard they've gimped a game with such phenomenal gameplay at its core.
Benjamin Sanchez
Change August to Sonic Mania.
Charles Wright
I like how theres all kinds of moons, the game has to appeal to a large demographic. There are a lot of moons in tricky places.
Aaron Reed
It makes sense that they would make it so that the main game (go defeat bowser) would be the easy part, so that even some little kid can enjoy the game. For all others there's so much more to do post game with challenging moons you unlock later.

Basically, when playing through the game (the main story until Bowser at the end you know), you only see small portions and things to do in each kingdom, it opens up a lot more in each place afterwards with way more things to get, much harder too.

There are more Moons with a dedicated challenge in Odyssey then Sunshine, so if you are playing just for the core content you still get more.
Julian Watson
The obvious ones feel like they're in place to progress the story. I don't mind them, it's just something to fill the ship
When someone who is upset by these and ass stomps do they genuinely rage when a moon comes out?
Hunter Adams
Basically like most Mario games, you only need a certain amount of progression to unlock the next kingdom each time. The game usually only asks you to find 10-15 moons in each world before you can move on. Usually hitting these minimums is very easy.
But each world usually has between 20-60 moons total, meaning that you really are just scraping the surface of each world when you pass through the first time.
After you finish the game you unlock a new kingdom, as well as smaller post game worlds too later on. And the game basically just encourages you to keep playing with a steady stream of neat unlocks as you find more moons.
I finished the main story with 100-200 moons out of the total 800+
Daniel Wood
Oh, okay, cool, so no need to stress myself on the first go through then.
Daniel Howard
Not at all, if anything just go through, you'll only be able to really do everything everywhere after the main story anyway
Landon Morales
>Muda Kingdom Could this be...
Logan Cruz
It's kind of bullshit, honestly. Yes it gives more moons that only unlock after you beat the game, but what people mean is if you only follow what you're supposed to be doing in the story mode without any real exploration. If you've already been exploring, then it doesn't really apply.
Jackson Wilson
This game is currently my game of the year. I felt Zelda was overrated - wonderful game world which was ruined by a lack of compelling dungeons and repetitive enemies - but Odyssey delivers the goods. The game just drags you in and keeps you enthralled in the wonderful and crazy imagination of the Japanese developers who are not bogged down by (((Hollywood))) cliches and Western style fixation on politics and diversity. Long live Nintendo!
Cameron Scott
I really like all the accordion music Nintendo is using. That song is amazing.
Colton Taylor
Yeah I feel like between BotW and Odyssey, the latter wins for me as well.
BOTW has laid the foundations for the next Zelda game perfectly. A little more structure, a little more variety while retaining the open world character and you have the foundations for a game that will go down as an all classic. I got bored of Zelda after playing through my second Divine Beast dungeon... felt like there was not enough meat on them bones. The cohesion of the world Nintendo created was a thing of beauty, it just seemed to lack that spark to keep me going though.
Logan Davis
Definitely needs a bit more structure and maybe linearity to it. I don't think Zelda should be this open, as much fun as its sandboxyness is.
Jace Taylor
>you have the foundations for a game that will go down as an all classic.
make that all time classic. To me Wind Waker remains the best Zelda game I have played.

WW HD is the most pleasing game to the eyes man.

>It's way better than Souls
calm down there buddy, it's better than NieR but that's it. Souls wipes its ass with it.
William Miller
>I got bored of Zelda after playing through my second Divine Beast dungeon This. The open world was beautiful and compelling, but never provided any proper incentives to explore it. You see neat looking scenery and go to investigate, only to come across more bokoblin camps, korok seeds, or a shrine. If they integrated the shrine puzzles and the dungeons seamlessly into the world, provide far more compelling and useful collectables, don't completely frontload the items and abilities needed to beat the game to the tutorial area, make the combat actually worth a damn, and provide a story where everything remotely interesting didn't happen 100 years ago, then they'd have a winner.
