Will this game be worth it for the single player alone?

I love Final Fantasy and the idea of action combat with FF characters sounds great, but i hate fighting games online, i suck at them.

Will this have a campaign or something? A story?

The first two Dissidias had full fledged story campaigns. It's safe to say this one will too.

I'm under the impression that you'll get short cutscenes as you play more and they've been entertaining an idea of adding scenes, when they add new characters, so I don't think there will even be an ending for quite a while. So no, not that safe.

This one won't have story campaign. It was said by developers themselves, only unlocable cutscenes in gallery as you play VS.
This game is officially e-sports oriented, don't expect to have any proper content in the game.

Finished roster is planned to be 50 characters, they will be added through DLC.
All previous Dissidia cast, including Tifa, is confirmed to return at some point.

The game is generally pretty easy to learn and play. I say this as someone who sucks at fighting games as well.

This game is focused solely on online battles vs other player, as mentioned above it's trying to go e-sports route. Don't expect anything single player in it.
