What do you think Sakuri did to end up in hell in the first place?

a hitler

Also can we talk about how bullshit those blue circles are

>what do you think
It's all in the omake file AFAIR, she tried some summoning ritual from a book, I think it was to get back at some bullies? Either way, she instead transported her entire house to hell, hence the level with mom and your house
She might or might not get back to our world, depending on what the neutral/malevolent beings (shadows in the background of some levels, namely uterus boss level) decide to do. Tough shit though, decades in hell is like a millisecond in our world.

meant "benevolent" instead of "malevolent"

A second in hell is an immeasurable amount of time in real life and she spent a lot of time in hell in the post credits anyway.
Ritz basically tells you that once the universe dies you MIGHT have a chance of leaving.

I remember distinctly someone translated the omake file and there was something about a chance of early leave that wasn't in the game.

Did Xenophobia die for good?

This game really fucked with me when I was younger, especially because of the whole "family getting dragged in" thing and the time difference.

>All the bodies in the game are Sakuri
Damn.

Why is it that the japanese version, or the idea, of supernatural beings or hell is just a full on train ride of assholes and maximum suffering?

>>A second in hell is an immeasurable amount of time in real life and she spent a lot of time in hell in the post credits anyway.
Wasn't it the other way around?

No.

I didn't know about the omake. I just read it... So was Ritz lying about the house just being an illusion? Damn...

And I like the idea that all of Sakuri's deaths actually happened. The omake also said that each time a human dies in the labyrinth a little piece of their soul is destroyed. I wonder if she'll make it to the end of the universe with any left?

Is she the vidya character who has suffered the most?

Also last week I played Corpse Party which had the same theme of occult ritual gone bad leads to school kids getting killed in horrible ways for all eternity. I guess it's best not to mess with Japanese rituals.

the greatest ending.

I want Sakuri to be adopted by Doomguy and taught how to RIP AND TEAR.

She's definitely up there. I'd say the I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream cast are contenders as well.

I couldn't finish the last boss even with all the health I could get. It was pretty bullshit so I looked up the ending

It's somehow worse in Corpse Party because most of the kids did nothing wrong and suffer for all eternity because of some blogger bitch and a trash principal.

Yeah but at least the Corpse Party kids get to be ghost buddies with other classmates.

The last boss has some frustrating RNG. For me it took grinding out attempts for over an hour before I got one where the stars aligned. I hate those shrinking insta-kill circles

tried to kill people. also the gods of that world are evil they are watching you suffer thru the game

Should've sent link.

guys i know it's offtopic but a dog just killed one of my cats and I feel kinda sad.
I just wanted to vent sorry.

Is it like Mogeko's Castle?

Doomguy would probably kill her because she's a sinner and it's her own fault she's in hell to begin with.

>Xenophobia
yup the creator left it since something something reason

There was always something magical about frustratingly difficult, obscure games with disjointed stories.

Where can I read the omake, google has failed me

They play pretty differently, and even as horror games, Mogeko's Castle is a E-rated game next to the shit that happens in Demonophobia

>The omake
the what? link?

Doomguy loves cute things and Sakuri isn't irredeemable.

>Hell is maximum suffering
That's... kind of the whole point of the concept user.

Kwarurariru was better

What if Doomguy wants a caddy to carry all his shit for him.

english?

And by sending link I mean by sending Link to reason with the bullies no harm

entire story in nutshell

wtf happened why am I here
I keep getting revived after dying horribly
this blue guy says Im in a labyrinth and he can help me out if I get to the middle
the labrynth is a part of hell, I'm the sacrifice used to free the blue guy
I beat the blue guy but now I'm stuck here forever better get used to g

He can carry everything himself though.

Ritz was such a pain in the ass to beat. Tried to play it again recently and couldn't even get past pyramid head dude's metal spine.

Favorite deaths?

I didn't find an english translation, but I didn't look very hard. google translate should give you a rudimentary understanding though.

It took me a long time to realize that I was using the weaker attack against the spine. Did you ever backtrack and press the gas button after beating Lust?

whatever happen to the creator of this game

Heard he died in an earthquake or something but I could never find a source.

I used to be able to land that strong attack and avoid getting hit perfectly. I tried beating him with just the weak attack and he didn't die after something like 60~ hits.

That's a good one, I think the digestion in the yellow slime was p good

dat death

I fapped

Yeah I know maybe I didn't phrased it right but what I was trying to say was in western media hell is like some sort of a punishment that awaits for your actions, but before dying or intentionally going there, coming in contact with a demon or hell it self is somewhat of a rarity.

With japanese media it's like:

>"Alright guys lets do this small harmless ritual of friendship!"
>You and your friends are now dyingin hell or another dimension of sort that is just nothing but a mockery of your own world while filled with suffering
>"Oh shit a spooky ghost asked me a question"
>Answer wrong and your soul will be damned to hell for eternity
>"I took a walk outside at a very specific hour unintentionally" or "I didn't close the door properly at night"
>A murderous spirit will now appear and drag you to hell
>"Oh oops oh, I took a wrong turn in this forest"
>Prepare to burn in hell

Like what the fuck man

prob tried to summon a demon kek

You could always view it as an allegory for how quickly your life and social standing can crash down in jap society if you really want a reason they're into suffering that badly.

Sounds like japs know what's good to me

I honestly wish that this was one of those games that gets attention by a bigger group and gets a remake of sort. Hell, all these japanese horror indie games deserve a proper remake.

If fucking Corpse Party can get a bucket full of remakes, of the same game, then other games deserve a chance too damn it

Western media is also full of it though, but it died down quicker. Take one look at western folklore and it's similarly full of stories of demons taking children for the pettiest of crimes. Hell, I still can't get over the fact that they conceptualized unborn children going to hell due to "original sin" you didn't even need to do anything, you were fucked for merely existing.

It's probably also Japan's stronger indie scene turning these folklore tales into stories and games, it's really not unique to their culture as far as I can tell.

Japanese mythology is FULL of shit that randomly kills you, or damns you.

holy shit i just read it and it said she may not even be free if the world ends

Would Demonophobia get a AO rating if it got a proper release like Corpse Party? That one was marketable enough to appeal to some casual horror fans but I think Demonophobia would turn off most people

Didn't they actually go to the Limbo? Just asking, not really religious.

I want to say yes because of the overall nature of the game and how it handles its gore, but other games like MKX are realistic and gory as shit but fly with an M rating.
Maybe some of the death animations that are more sexual would warrant it getting an AO, but hard to tell honestly.

You can take out "Japanese" there user, it's fucking everywhere.

Humanity learned fairly early that threats were often more effective than actual consequences, hence most moral rules are backed by ephemeral "future" threats while only tangible rules (don't steal, don't kill, etc.) are backed by violence.

They probably gotta tone it down. By a lot. But really just removing the lewd scenes would do it.

Yeah I don't think many folks have much interest in seeing a (9 year old?) little girl get torn to pieces repeatedly.

Depends on the version of the bible and all that. Limbo is also arguably worse than hell.

I'm mainly referring to the version where they get sent to the first circle of hell.

I agree, it would be nice to even just get a version with controller support and a full screen.

Yellow slime death was good. There's also the death during the spine fight when the spine gets you from above.

Literally Dark Souls

you'd be surprised

>removing the lewd scenes
Then don't remake the game. No one wants it in butchered form. Little girls getting lowered into cauldrons with hooks in their twats make a great game. This is why Westerners are discriminated against in Nippon.

That one always made me slightly uncomfortable cause I could never help but imagine something like that being done to me. Not that being digested sounds all that great either but I think that would be preferable.

Not that user, and I get what you mean.

But we were mainly talking about how they are represented in the media. Not saying that the western media does not have their fair share of douchy demons and ghosts but even in their case the protagonist or whatever have to be involved in contacting them directly. In Japanese media the concept of hell just seems to be so easily accessed.

I know damn well that we don't have no toilet ghosts that send you straight to hell just because you didn't ask for the right kind of toilet paper.

No, we have ghosts that torment you for eternity for sleeping in your bed the wrong way, we have demons just possessing you arbitrarily without doing anything at all.

Japs turned this obscure bullshit into vidya, we turned it into trashy novella at most.

Is it up there with Yume Nikki?

>western fantasy
>if you do bad stuff demons take you to hell

>japanese fantasy
>if you do stuff demons take you to hell. which isn't a bad deal because you can literally kill your way out of hell and revive again if you're badass enough of a warrior

>chink fantasy
>you DARE push me into a fucking corner and hurt my beloved ones? FINE. I'll become the demon as you so much wanted.
>proceeds to bite someone make the rest of their body wither up and die from just hate alone
>slaughters opponents entire bloodline and traps all the souls in a flag to use a a weapon by launching mad tortured souls of opponents relatives at him to shred him a part

LOOKS LIKE SHIT I UNDERSTAND YOUR TIME IS WORTHLESS BUT YOU SHOULD REALLY FIND BETTER THINGS TO SPEND IT ON LIKE I COULDNT IMAGINE BEING LIKE YOU AND HAVING TO INDULGE ABSOLUTELY EVERY TIME I GET A BONER

Being badass enough to go through hell and all that was also present in Greek mythology, and many others.

"chink fantasy" just sounds like an edgier Dracula. Enslavement of the souls of the fallen is not an uncommon theme in western media either, though more common in arab mythology.

Did you look to the sky and scream while shedding manly tears?

Heart of Darkness had deaths that were as brutal (and some worse) than anything in this shit and it was rated E.

"Don't fuck with hell" is a running theme in horror worldwide.

Yeah I've seen a few, they're not as graphic but they're still pretty brutal. Never played that one myself though.

>Little girls getting lowered into cauldrons with hooks in their twats make a great game.
Was that in the game? I must have missed that death.

>That one always made me slightly uncomfortable cause I could never help but imagine something like that being done to me.
That's the whole point, which is why it's such a good death (in my opinion)

Different type of game entirely, I wouldn't try to compare them.

Did this cat show you its penis?

No, I just dug a hole in the dirt and buried him.
I don't feel sad, i don't know actually. I just feel very shitty because I threw him outside the window because he wouldn't let me cook, I do this fairly often but this night he didn't come back because a dog killed him
I feel guilty and responsible maybe.

The thing with chink fantasy is that definition of demon is very vague.
pretty much any dumb living thing or not living thing (such as brick, cat, duck, chair, sunflower) that gains sentience through whatever heavenly fuckery is considered demon.
also any mental trauma, insecurity or fear is called "inner demon"
another type of demon are inhabitants of another plane/planet/world (so basically ayyliens)
people who resort to generally "dark" arts are considered demonic cultivators (yes even the girls who cultivate by fucking men are considered demonic cultivators even if what they do doesn't harm anyone)

what chinks finds really spooky are "ghosts". those aren't ghosts of western sense, since it's simple to destroy lingering resentment or annoying souls. "ghosts" is what they call something completely unexplainable even by their fantasy logic which is why thats spooky to them.

kill the dog to avenge him

I've been stuck on that big red faggot for an hour now. How the hell do I beat this horseshit?

One day I let my cat go outside because she was moewing really hard to be let out and didn't let me sleep.
And she never returned. I know how you feel.

Any other eternal suffering/bad end/lead along gameplay stuff like these games?

Seems that one game that deals with fanfiction supernatural/super science like the murderous statue you have to look at is along these lines too.
