I think it's a great game

Kotal Kahn and Erron Black are not only the best newcomers to the series since MK2 and MK3, but are some of the best character concepts in the series period. Looking back it's sort of fucking amazing that "Aztec sun/blood god" and "cowboy sharpshooter" took this long to be characters in the series

Kotal in particular is a great character in terms of personality as well. Most media just like to have their characters be villians or heros or edgy antiheros, but Kotal is a rare example of antagonistic warlord that's actually not only "neutral" in terms of how they fit into things, but is actually a decent ruler that wants the best for his people and gives a shit about his underlings.

Comic Kotal was far better than Game Kotal

The initial roster was hot garbage but some of the DLC characters (Predator, Alien, Triborg, Tremor) redeemed it

I played it on PC, so for me, the experience was crap.

Gameplay was best if the series.
Too bad the cast was weak and the story was are. Also it took itself way too seriously and wasn't as cheesy as some of the older games.

Kotal was great in the comic leading up to the games launch. Too bad they ruined him in game. They made him a total bitch in MKX. Black has a good look and concept, but he needs to be fleshed out more as a character.

Kotal and Erron, as has been mentioned, were 10/10. D'vorrah is cool, and Ferra/tor is decent. Cassie combines the best parts of johnny and sonya. Takeda might be shit personality wise but "MGR exoskelton ninja with whips and plasma swords" is rad as fuck

The only actual stinkers were Kung Jin and Jacqui, and I guess including Johnny and Sonya at all since Cassie already covers what's cool about both

Comic was far more of a badass. Game version was a pussy and couldn't fight. He lost to fucking Kung Jin and Jacqui. Mind you in the comic he raped Goro....the winner of 9 Mortal Kombats and one of the toughest fighters in the series.
