Unless you're accustomed to side scrollers without a controller I'd highly recommend one.

I don't have my PS4 controller here and I'm way too high to go get it but I've heard they make software to make the game thinks it's a xbox controller.

They do, but it's still a little janky on some games.

It works perfectly on hollow knight, but the camera control on witcher 3 is absolute garbage, or was when I tried it a year back.

Great recommendation, I was fucking lucky and my dad actually got me into it, aside from fallout 4 the man always had good taste.

I plugged the controller into my PC and it worked with Sonic Mania right away. Felt great actually.

I do use PC PS4 Remote play so I might have the right drivers already from that? But yeah in my case I plugged it in and it just worked, Apple-style.

No Ryse is a Microsoft exclusive it's on PC and Xbox One.
DC Universe is cool but it gets boring fast and there's a lot of expensive bullshit dlcs if you got a friend or two to play it it's okay though
