is anyone genuinely interested in this stuff? I can understand zelda and mario but this going full cute for 2018 might not be a smart move to push switch

kirby has always been shit
Kirby yeah, but Yoshi no. Haven't played a good Yoshi game since the original, They've all been kinda crappy.
Yoshi is cute, but way too easy.
Kirby might be fun though.
Fuck yes. Kirby might not reinvent the wheel, but the games feel nice to play. And I loved Wooly World, so I'm sure the new one is gonna be good.
I'm spretty hype for Kirby, Robobot was one of my favorite entries in the series so seeing another one on the Switch in higher res with elemental ability mixing & Super Star-styled helpers sounds really fun. Yoshi I couldn't care too much about, I hope for the best for it but I doubt it'll be better than the original Yoshi's Island, hell I hope they can finally one-up that game in the series one day.
Looks pretty gay
People like Kirby but Yoshi's more hit and miss.
I'm excited for Yoshi. Good Feel makes good games. At the VERY least, we're gonna get more god tier snow levels:

I want them to make a game that's nothing but snow levels and it'll be perfect. They always seem to get most creative and fun there.
I'm more interested for Fire Emblem Switch than those games. Also I'd rather wait for 2D Mario than play Kirby.
As a huge nintendofag, kirby and yoshi have been toddler tier for a long time. Think the last one I got for either series was superstar ultra.
I think nintendo is gonna rely on 3rd party for the mature titles. DOOM is out for switch soon isnt it? And there's skyrim. They want to keep their squeaky clean disney image so I think botw is the darkest we'll see from them, maybe prime 4 but at most it'll be pushing the limits of a t rating.
As long as the marketing for the system itself stays trendy, and as long as there's not JUST these cutesy games coming out, I think they'll be fine. You just need enough variety for these kinds of games to not define the system.
Would be nice for a game in the style of kirbys adventure or something though, where it's still for kids but feels more all-ages than child exclusive. The recent kirby stuff is just too sugary sweet for me, I cant bring myself to play them.
I love it when people judge WW by its visual style, because you can bet your ass they would get fucking destroyed by the special levels.
You should try Woolly World. It's actually pretty good and the second best Yoshi. Beats everything else.
>The recent kirby stuff is just too sugary sweet for me, I cant bring myself to play them.
But they have some dark implications at the end, like the older Kirby games as well. In Robobot the main villain basically gets lobotomized during the finale and you hear him screaming him in pain when it happens.
I really like Woolly World and think Epic Yarn gets a bad rep. Yes, you can't die in Epic Yarn but that's not the point. You lose gems every time you take damage and you need those gems to advance.
That being said, I wouldn't advertise these games are hard, just not a cake walk like say Super Paper Mario where I beat that half asleep not even trying. Woolly World is about as hard as Yoshi's Island.
I'm excited for Kirby since I know exactly what I'll get but that in itself is a problem, I'm sure it'll be as great as the last ones but did we really need the same game 4 times in a row?
Don't play Yoshi but it also seems to not be taking many risks and following after Wooly World.
I think the issue here is Nintendo trying to rush and push out as many franchises onto Switch as possible, rather than bother experimenting just quickly putting out tried and true formulas to get the checklist marked, while still counting as new games and not just ports. They probably realize the Wii U failed in part by not having its own installment of each franchises or until too late, the only Kirby was a spin-off, its Zelda came at the end of its lifetime, its Mario wasn't considered a true 3D installment like 64/Sunshine/Galaxy, etc. So now they're making sure they get a traditional Kirby and Yoshi platformer in before they do anything else, hence this tired stuff.
Kirby remains consistent. Yoshi finally managed to not be shit with Woolly World and he's probably stuck with the yarn style.
>In Robobot the main villain basically gets lobotomized during the finale and you hear him screaming him in pain when it happens.
Don't forget the Metaknight version, where the clone of the bee queen from 3DX briefly turns back into her original form and cries out in pain and panic before dying.
Who the fuck doesn't like Kirby? I will probably get the game at release.
Yoshi games are pretty shit tho, Island was a fluke.
You don't even need to get that far into Robobot or the deep lore stuff, it starts out with an all out invasion and immediate, world wide takeover, taking out Kirby's biggest rivals in a matter of seconds. Whispy's turned into a mechanical beast and comes at you in the first level, Susie's first interaction establishes a plan to drain the planet's resources and recognizes the citizens as obstacles to be destroyed, and Meta Knight is turned into a brainwashed cyborg
I loved yoshi story as a kid
looking back it was extremely shallow
Then you get into the DEEPEST LORE shit with Suzie and Hartmann and the references to Shiver Star.
Don't get fooled by Kirby, it has final bosses that are more creepy than Bloodborne stuff and I don't mean gory but extremely unsettling.
Kirby, oh yes. Yoshi? If I
If anything Yoshi is a great tech demo of what nintendo can do with the unreal engine, that inflating paper island looked damn photorealistic.
>The recent kirby stuff is just too sugary sweet for me, I cant bring myself to play them
The recent main Kirby games are the ones that has the darkest undertones the series has to offer yet. You'll never see that kind of twist being pulled off in a 3D or a 2D Mario game at all.
Kirby games sell a lot more than you think you do.
Aside from the Melon challenge there wasn't much to do in the game.
I loved the game when I was young but I can't bring myself to replay it, it's so boring.
Kirby might be okay but probably not like all the games since RtDL
Yoshi was never good so I don't care, though Island and Wooly World aren't shit either
Kirby LOOKS cute but in reality it's some nightmare fuel series.
>kirby has always been the shit
FTFY
I'm already sold on Kirby but I've never been a big Yoshi fan. That being said, I did purchase Yoshi's Wooly World and enjoyed it.
Well even in the surface level the final boss fuses a person's mind with a computer and then has it out to commit universal genocide on all living beings
Haltmann's body flopping around and getting puppeteered while Star Dream announced the end of history was some real shit even before you know his past
These games are LITERALLY for babies and there's nothing wrong with that. Some of us have children and these are great games to get them. Mario and Zelda are not for babies, they are for everyone.
>but this going full cute for 2018 might not be a smart move
lol. Sony keeps releasing adults only cinematic movies that don't sell. Games like Kirby and Yoshi are polished and suits a wider audience.
yea babies and toddlers
No, and here's why: slow floaty physics. Yoshi's Island perfected his movement. Nightmare, Amazing Mirror and Squeak Squad was Kirby's peak movement. These are dead franchises.
Kirby? Yes.
Yoshi looks painfully bland.
there will be more, don't you worry
This.
Kirby always.
Yoshi, not really.
Now put cuphead past meatboy
Well one was on the Wii and the other two were only featured on the 3DS. And they all manage to feel unique from one another, with the new Switch game having helpers/combo abilities making a return. Although I hope this means that we'll be seeing the debut of a main 3D game since Kumazaki has stated that he wants to deviate from the formula he has started.
no way, meatboy is way harder.
Wow nice bait, made me reply
Meatboy was much easier than Cuphead
here's your (you)
Kirby, somewhat. Yoshi, no. My biggest hope is that the Switch doesn't fall into the same issues the Wii U had where Nintendo made nothing but 2D platformers for several years as a stopgap.
>Mfw I enjoy all of the games on that scale
Fuck these babies comments, fun games are fun.
Kirby can get a lot tougher with its post content and are a lot darker than the main Mario games, so I'd say they are on the same level.
>cuphead
>platformer
yes
classic megaman is harder than x imo
Yeah?
>Classic Mega Man easier than Mega Man X
Fuck no. Mega Man X's difficulty mostly comes from certain games (particularly X5 through X7) having real bullshit moments and the boss fights being likely to murder you, but the series is overall not that hard and probably easier than Classic Mega Man. Plus nothing in the X series compares to the sadism that is Mega Man & Bass.
I'm hoping Adeleine comes back in this game
I admire your optimism, but she will NEVER EVER come back
We said the same thing about Dark Matter though
I hope for that every game, and it never happens.
But losing hope will kill my insides. They better not drop the ball this time, though.
I played it for about 10 minutes and couldn't wait for it to end.
That reveal was amazing, still couldn't beleive they would pull that out.
They will, and we'll suffer again.
>Metroid games being anywhere near the top.
The games are great but aside from 1, most of them are piss easy.
you have been visited by the Dabbing Daroach of Good Games
all Kirby games will be good, but only if you post "Damn Daroach" in this thread
How do we know this for certain?
They have used her before, why can't they use her again?
>Drawcia isn't in the picture because Drawcia's fucking dead
I'd actually sort of be interested in seeing a bad Kirby game. I don't like the direction Kirby's taking right now, HAL needs to get their shit together.
Kirby Superstar is literally the perfect video game
Kirby is fucking amazing you faggot OP delet this
Kirby looks great, Yoshi looks like shit so far though desu.
>I don't like the direction Kirby's taking right now
What did he mean by this?
The game's reveal was really underwhelming. Although the game still looks great to play, it was dissapointing to see that the "action fighting game" they have been hinting was only featuring Kirbies instead of other uknown characters. But I'm still excited for it, especially after learning that there could be a chance for dlc characters since there are incomplete coding for axe knight.
Some doesn't like the direction that Kirby is taking. I don't totally disagree with that, but its their personal belief about this.
The new Kirby game looks like the fourth return to dreamland game so I''m not excited by any means and Yoshi is Nintendo's worst franchise so I don't have any high hopes for that either.
He's probably referring to how each platforming game has been relatively safe using the same engine, level design structure & art style (well, Star Allies is changing it up a little bit at least). I think it's fine since they're adding new abilities, mechanics & gimmicks to it but I could see where he's coming from. I hope the next platforming game after Star Allies takes a different approach to level design, mixes up the core mechanic more than the last 3/soon to be 4 games (like give me a game based on & expands upon Milky Way Wishes copy ability searching gimmick or something for example) and art style, maybe speed it up a little as well. While I'm easy to please with this series they really should push to be different more soon.
I agree. Bringing back Super Star's combat is a great thing to have, but they should definitely change the engine and switch for a more faster paced gameplay. And they could borrow elements from Dreamland 3 with Kirby's basic moves and add a new feature that can change the way Kirby plays while not confined to just one specific area.
I am more troubled by SMT V director saying he doesn't how much it will take so they can't even say a generic release date.
Metroid is literally easier than SMB3 safe for some bosses in Fusion.
...
Well, Yoshi's Island is my fave game of all time, so if its half as good as that, then yes.
figures you would like the worst mario game
