Nier Automata

What do you people think about Nier: Automata?
Why are A and B even considered endings?

After half a year of dodging spoilers and filtering the topic I finally got the 5 main Endings.

Good game but Nier 1 is better. Taro is somehow incapable and doesn't know the definition of an ending, only DoD 1 and DoD 3 have multiple proper endings

gud game

They are endings because they still lead to some sort of conclusion, even if it's utterly incomplete.
Though Taro only did something actually interesting with endings in first Drakengard.

>but Nier 1 is better
They are both excellent games that are virtually incomparable because they touch on vastly different subjects and themes.
Stop being a fucking contrarian trying to stir shit up between the fans of one franchise.

what was inside?

DLC arenas.

dlc

DLC.
I don't remember the game looking that bad.

I thought it was a fine addition to the franchise. A and B are "endings" because that's how Taro rolls with his stories, they have their own conclusions and they're also there to play with your expectations and set up the plot that comes afterwards.

Personally, I enjoyed the original NieR more than Automata. I think NieR and Automata's strengths and weakness are sort of inversed. Automata has more than serviceable gameplay, but I feel it was lacking in story and characters. 9S was my favorite character and Pod 042 really grew on me, but I didn't love and feel for Automata's characters the way that I did for NieR.

I haven't gone back and played the DLC yet, though. Is it worth it?

Nier:A was decent, but the gameplay was pretty fucking bad despite Platinum worming on it, and the ONLY memorable boss fight for me was completely option side content.

Nigga fuck off if a game has a sequel people are always going to compare them no matter what, also
>Contrarian
So playing all the games in a series and deciding for yourself which is better is considered contrarian? What a joke

Automata has one of the best gameplay mechanics as far as semi-open world ARPGs go.

Your ilk always starts popping up when the sequel for any game gets released. Utterly predictable.

I'm not even trashing Automata I said it was good and yet you still managed to find a way to get mad

...

Good story, okay "game".

Sorry, i just have a distaste for shit eating contrarians, user.

Have you played them all? If so maybe we can actually discuss what makes one game better than the other instead of you throwing a hissy fit over a genuine opinion

Oh yes, i've actually played them all. That's why i'm saying that a person genuinely thinking that one Taro's game is better than another has a literal brain damage. They are so thematically and stylistically diverse no direct comparison like this would ever work, it's just a sign of contrarianism.

DoD 3 just as good as both Nier games? Looks like you've got a bit of that "contrarianism" in you too buddy

DoD3 is a genuinely fun black comedy with some of the most hilarious pieces of writing that Taro ever did and second best gameplay.

Yeah some of the writing is good but it gets obnoxious when every other line is a sex joke. That and the fucking framerate as well. The final boss was brilliant though

fuck how low can your standards fall?!
>game where you can literally close your eyes and randomly mash attack and dodge buttons
>game where it's entire game loop consists of fetch quests and battling mediocre enemies
>game where instead of properly designed levels/dungeons you get some shallow side-scrolling garbage

>has one of the best gameplay mechanics as far as semi-open world ARPGs go
negro are you retarded? Dark Souls 3 shits all over this game and that's the worst Souls game.

Dark Souls 3 is a linear arpg set in tight environments with a completely different gameplay formula.
Automata shits all over things like dragon's dogma, amalur and all other things actually comparable to it.
>hating on perspective and genre switches, one of the coolest things in both original Nier and Automata
Go die in dumpster or something.

>Dark Souls 3 is a linear arpg set in tight environments with a completely different gameplay formula

am i supposed to congratulate the Automata devs for going with wrong world design? which resulted in an all but half-assed open world?

Soulstard deeming things wrong just because they don't behold to his beloved formula is a sight to behold.

It's like a dream come true

lmao cheesy ass game
why are that sluts weapons floating?
top kek
weebs are such delusional fuck tards

literally magic

...

I preferred Automata. Nier had the better twist and areas though.

Because you could conceivably end the game there. You'd get an incomplete, incorrect version of the story though.
But Taro does that, he tries to mess with what constitutes the "end" of the game. Also with the death/saving mechanics. And he wants you to revisit parts of the story from different perspectives. It's kind of neat when the significance of certain key scenes change.
