It’s usually because idiots like Anderson delude themselves into believing the newer games can’t hold a candle to something like 64 and Sunshine. Granted, I think 64 is a very good game that still holds up very well, but Sunshine is easily a 6/10 game and probably the weakest platformer I’ve ever played. It baffles me how highly the game is held by fans when it’s the most rushed game in the series and throws so much shitty padding at the player that it becomes unfun. I can’t even compare it to 64 or Odyssey because of how shitty it is, every time I play I never have fun beyond Ricco Harbor.

It's just a little toy of a game. Mario has refused to make his way into the modern world where deep stories have had an enormous psychological impact on the audience. This game should not be held up as among the greatest that the medium has to offer.

Considering how low he scores 64, it makes sense. Some people just prefer one type of level to another. I just don't get what he calls by "filler" when nothing in the game is filler, just "optional" at most.

Not really, since you get map markers to show you where they are. The maps are also pretty small. Getting each moon is basically like a small level usually with a platforming challenge, or it's hidden as a secret.

I'm surprised anyone can call Sunshine better than anything, probably nostalgia goggles, no way anyone can defend 43 shines out 120 being relegated to blue/red coin hunts.

No, because most if not all koroks were boring while the moons are very varied in how they can be obtained.There are just a lot of them to enable kids/normies and retards to complete the game without getting frustrated so for someone just rushing through the story it will look plain and boring.

Not really no. They’re either out in the open for you to get (the main challenge is usually getting to that moon) or are tucked away in secrecy somewhere. I guess those would feel like Korok seeds but it usually requires Mario to do something different other than the recycled Korok puzzles in BOTW

It is. The story is 5 hours long, and after that, you're just grinding moons doing the same shit over and over in every world, some of which are disappointingly small. BOTW was much more innovative and creative

Moons were pretty samey to get. Notes, Peach, costumes, ground pound, 2D platforming no more complex than a world 1 SMB level, using Cappy on a pointed place, etc. No different from the korok minigames (golf, apple trees, apple placements, rock lifting, rock tossing, diving, climbing to a tip, etc).

Galaxy 2 is a real good game but Galaxy 1 is kinda ass in retrospect. 3D World’s a fairly underrated Mario game but it plays it a little too safe imo. Odyssey is wholesome fun, and I would even put it neck to neck with 64, and I love 64 a lot.

though I agree with him in this case. my biggest gripe is that the game just throws moons at you and makes them feel not special. I liked in mario 64 each star felt like an objective. and the freebies (like toads just giving you one) were few and far between which made them special

None of the Korok seeds were required to beat BOTW. You require some moons to progress in Odyssey though.

My first game was Zelda on the NES, i played that for months. LTTP was cool but BotW was the first Zelda game that actually matched the original for me. Its amazing.

I never liked any 3D Marios, not even SM64 or Galaxy 2, tried both only finished 64 and wasnt amazed. Odyssey is still better than BotW.
