O-Oh
Probably my least favorite 3D Mario
Only ones I haven't played are Galaxy 2 and Odyssey.
Ten whole years of you children circle jerking this game
I wish I played the galaxy games in release order.
2 set my expectations pretty high
Yeah because sixty bore and shitshine are like some of the best games ever
super paper mario>super mario galaxy
Probably my favorite 3D Mario. Rosalina made it really charming.
Rosalina's Storybook made me cry and I'm not ashamed to admit it. Galaxy is easily in my to 10 games ever.
shame the neutered movest, linear levels, lack of camera control. it looked great, had great vibes, but man its lacking in the gameplay dept.
never played either of the galaxies. the wii was the biggest disappointment i've ever experienced in video games. i stopped playing video games for three years after it came out because it made me so depressed.
In a way Odyssey is what Galaxy should've been.
Absolute GOAT Mario soundtrack

sm64 would be good if the camera wasnt absolute shite
Last game directed by Koizumi. Maybe the last ever. Man, it was magical. Maybe I'll replay it.
Second one was better.
He's the true successor to Miyamoto.
>linear levels
Seeing as it's a platformer that's a good thing, the only good parts of Sunshine were the platforming focused levels.
Since Odyssey was released so early in the Switchs lifespan, you think they'll pull a Galaxy and just put out a (DLC PACK) sequel for it?
Great game. Out of all the 3D Marios it easily has the best style and atmosphere and it was nice to see more of a focus on more straight platforming compared to many of Sunshine's challenges being nothing but unrelated gimmicks.
Nothing is going to top the soundtrack.
Galaxy 2 was only conceived because the team had a bunch of ideas they didn't get to use and intended to just rerelease Galaxy with additional content but decided they had enough to make a new game out of it, if you look through the files it's called 'Super Mario Galaxy 1.5' so unless they had a bunch of unused concepts for Odyssey I doubt it. Mario usually doesn't do the same thing twice.
I could easily see it.
I think that undersells Koizumi. He's a lot better about story and not getting fixated on controller gimmicks.
>boring orchestral shit
*yawns*
The Galaxy games were the only Mario games where I just didn't see the hype. For both of them, by the halfway point, I felt like I've seen most of what it had to offer. Maybe it had to do with the spherical nature of all the levels. It just looked all the same to me. Shame I can't see it like everyone else.
GIMME YOUR 3D MARIO RANKINGS RIGHT FUCKING NOW
Odyssey > 64 > Galaxy = Galaxy 2 > 3D World > Sunshine > 3D Land
>He's a lot better about story
You say that like that's a good thing, Sunshine has almost over ten minutes of unnecessary cutscenes in the start which is something that absolutely does not belong in a Mario game at all. It was fine in Galaxy because it was optional at least.
>Odyssey > sunshine > 64> Galaxy > Galaxy 2 > 3D World > 3D Land
>sunshine > 64
You need to be 18+ to post here.
64 > Galaxy > Odyssey > Galaxy 2 > Sunshine > 3D World > 3D Land
You're selling it short though. Rosalina's backstory gave the game a surprising emotional depth that no one saw coming in a Mario game. That element makes Galaxy feel truly unique.
I want to suck Rosalina's cock!
It is a good thing when he's just doing what he likes. Like Link's Awakening, or Majora's Mask, or Super Mario Galaxy. Don't know what the fuck he was doing with Sunshine. I think his brain just needed to contextualize the game and he couldn't fit a bunch of ideas about dying and forgetting people in a Mario game until Galaxy.
Koizumi's the main brains behind the Switch. Controller gimmicks are his bread and butter. Odyssey explicitly pushes for the separate Joy-Con control setup.
Sure but I'm saying the way it was handled in Sunshine was overly intrusive to the game, if it's optional like in Galaxy that's fine because if I ever want to replay the game it's at my discretion if I want to see it again or not. I don't want to be bombarded with a bunch of opening cutscenes for a fucking Mario game though.
I played 64 first, one of my first 3d games. Sunshine is objectively better.
The Switch isn't a controller gimmick, it's a completely traditional layout.
Odyssey is not his game. He produced it, but he isn't directing.
Sunshine is the worst in the series, it's not even finished and barely has any platforming to speak of.
>Im a fucking manchild
*yawns*
I'm one of the few that prefers Wii remote style controls. It just feels completely natural and intuitive to me.
>64 is objectively better
FTFY
If you're going to post non-platforming Shines at least post the shitty ones. The ones you linked were actually good.
None of those are 'good' by any stretch of the imagination, the watermelon one is easy though.
I will never, ever be able to do that in SMS. Fuck that level.
Sirena Beach Cleanup and the Eel bossfight are fine. The Roller Coaster Balloons would be fine to if it wasn't a rehash of the initial bossfight and the rest of the game wasn't full of non-platforming shines.
lol
>tfw I still never beat it
>I was literally one star away from unlocking the final level when I decided "fuck it, I'm not playing this anymore"
The GC is my favorite console ever and I love Sunshine but it's admittedly the least fun Mario game to get 100% completion in.
Galaxy 1 is better than those anyways you aren't missing big thing
GOAT 3D Mario
