Famitsu: Famitsu reports Super Mario Odyssey sold 510k SMO sales in Week 1, 130k Switch sold
Also had the best 3D mario first week sales in Japan
Based Nintendo working the Nintendoomed marks in to a shoot
NINTENDO WON
what a fucking flop, this is nothing to be proud of. mobile phone games get millions of more downloads than this shit
You mad tho
Keep ppsting user if yiu post hard enough maybe people will believe you
Based
Of course it was going to sell well, Switch owners are starved for games so they'll buy anything.
>100% mad
how long will this meme last
Holy fucking shit, wouldn't surprise me if it becomes the best selling 3D Mario ever
I hope it does, it's well deserved.
NINTENDOMINATION
Nintendo always wins babay
>more and more people play video games all the time
>a new game sells more than 20 year old games
WOAH DUDE
Until the next Nintendo system comes out so they can just transplant it over to that one.
and yet 3D world and sunshine sold less than their older counterparts, as well as many other game franchises where old games sold more than new ones
3D Mario seeing this kind of success in Japan is a pretty big deal, with how it's lagged behind there historically. Looks like Nintendo's struggles to make it more accepted in Japan have really worked out.
And yet mario odyssey sold more. That throws a wrench in your assumption about how the series would sell.
the most selling mario is still NSMB though, but then again that FWS of 900k is due to 2D mario + DS hype
I'm not the one who made assumptions, you did
>only 130k switch
Honestly seems kind of weak for a major launch like this
I imagine they're holding back units for the holiday season. Seems like the Switch is still facing stock issues in Japan.
NSMB also had the honor of being the first brand new 2D Mario since Super Mario Land 2.
It really is weird how they didn't make one for the GBC or the GBA, and instead just opted to make enhanced rereleases of older games.
Japanese Switch sales are just shipment numbers. It's going to be supply constrained for months after the holidays.
The point is that "There are more gamers than before, so Odyssey outselling its predecessors isn't impressive" is a stupid argument. To begin with, the Wii and 3DS had bigger install bases when their respective 3D Mario titles released than the Switch does right now.
Maybe that's the case.
still more than usual though
There's still no telling how much it would be selling in Japan if there were enough to fill demand. These sales mean that demand is there and that Nintendo was able to fulfill supply up to that much.
>Mario selling less than splatoon 2
Why do japs have such weird taste
There are more people out there who want to fuck squids than they want to play Mario.
>cod and battlefield outsell Bloodborne
It's not really that different
The wii u was just a stepping stone to greatness
Great game :)
>more copies of the game sold than Switches sold
Nintentoddlers so starved for games they LITERALLY buy the same game twice
