Is there a more intimidating boss than this one? He seems like he was designed from the ground up to make players panic
Want me to come help you? What level are?
Set up a pass and wait
I am a terrible player OP but this is how I beat him, I hope it helps.

Use faster weapons. If you have the hunter's axe, don't transform it.
Nerve gas
hunter axe is one of the best weapons for him because you can rally back so much health, and he doesn't dodge out of the way like Gehrman or Maria
This. Use gems to increase rally
There's this motherfucker.
>0:05
>clearly misses him
>not even touching the "shockwave"
>still gets hit
Turning the HUD off won't hide these awful hitboxes, Soulsdrone.
Stay close to him at all times, circle around, use shield on the right time to conserve stamina.
That slam attack makes the ground break, the hitbox includes the ground breaking forming a perfect semi-circle. He wasn't hit by the second attack at 0:07 because he rolled.
Like the fight with lady maria, the blood she spills is the hit box so you can be close to her during her transformation attack if you avoid the blood.
Don't talk shit about games you never played.
It's fair IMO, it looks like Orphan's sword crushes the player's left foot.
Here's a really hard attack to dodge even when you know it's coming
It's a very usual thing in souls games. A slam attack to the ground usually has a hitbox that extends to the ground itself.
Not that nintendo/gaf/ Sup Forums would know that
explain this one soulsdrones
not enough adaptibility.
Just dodge inward for 90% of his attacks.
Got to like a 1/4 of his health my very first time, and it was my 1st souls game (though at this point I also got through most of DaS2).
What? The fact that you save webm of games you dont like or the particle of an attack that explodes and has radius of damage like the exploding skulls on the catacumbs?
Cant explain your mental ilness nigger.
Literally SCP-106
>b-but nintendo
>when bing bing games and metroid primes have shockwave using bosses 90% of the time
Dumb console warrior.
You got hit
>kill him once solo on an arcane build
>never ever want to fight him solo again
if only playing with randoms wasn't a huge crapshoot
>It's a very usual thing in souls games
I just pointed that out. And no, it's not a good thing.
Your reactions were dogshit and the game punished you for it after the dodge animation was done.
it doesn't look like it
>bing bing games and metroid primes have shockwave using bosses 90% of the time
They really don't. They actually have very accurate and perfect hitboxes.
Are you fucking blind?
The blood projectile blows up and the explosion hits you.
I think I killed him first or second try. Probably second time cause I remember going back to the place he spawns.
>good thing
Your opinion. Clearly a minority.
because he's totally within the explosion when he takes the damage, right? see
Ludwig is overrated as shit.
He doesnt know it explodes. He's salty about a game he never played
How does it feel to go from a 10/10 to colon cancer?
Right. He is.
wrong, he isn't
He is.
Play it and you'll see the radius.
Btw what more webms you have from games you dont like?
Only thing that could get retards confused is that you took damage from the blast but the 'i got hit' animation kicked in only after the dodge animation ended.
Hope this clears up your confusion.
You clearly got hit, but then managed to somehow get off the dodge animation.
that's not supposed to happen, those pink balls home in on you as you strafe. You're *supposed* to wait until the last possible second to dodge them. The only reason he got hit is because he was using the beast claws beast dodge, which is a little wonky
I've been co-oping orphan for some time now and yes, his attacks home in. You can clearly see he can change his attack direction. That's why so many people get clipped on the last second by the placenta-thing
Because you picked frame too late.
Eh. Wasn't as bad as Sup Forums makes it out to be. The locales were refreshing from an aesthetic point of view, and some of the level hazards and enemy variety was welcome. Gameplay was alright. I just used the axe you get in the forest (SotFS) - hand axe, I believe - and used that for most of the game since there was almost never a need to get a better weapon. Fashion souls was fun due to more variety. Whoever designed those white Hiede knights can jump off a bridge.
I really liked Earthen Peak, the Gutter, Forest of fallen giants, village section of the Duke's Freija level, the fire tower DLC (but not that side area, fuck that), & Shrine of Amana. Even Drangleic wasn't that bad. The bosses surprisingly did not seem as samey as I was lead to believe.
BB is a more polished game overall, and has better music & atmosphere. Plus a better story. Herald > Doll. Not really feeling all that for DaS3, though. Especially with Xenoblade 2 and Dissidia NT right around the corner.
Grind some winter lanterns until you get better gems; or do the tedious chalice dungeons.
that's not even possible. If you do it too late then you just get hit and you never even start dodging
?
Not really arguing about dodge followed by hit animation just that it's pretty clear from the shots that hunter got hit by the blood splash.
Do you actually need help OP?
If you set up a password I'll help you beat him
the hunter started the dodge animation on the exact same frame that the projectile exploded. That should count as safe until the dodge is over, and it 100% would have if it had been the regular dodge and not the special beast-embrace-claws dodge (or the special milkweed-parasite dodge).
>All his initializing attacks have huge windup
>Has long combos, but always a long recovery at the end
>Your dodge is even more forgiving than it is in bloodborne
Lolno.
While Gael is a fun and well designed fight, It's nowhere near as harrowing as Orphan. What makes Orphan so intimidating is that he is extremely dangerous at pretty much any range. He has some very hard to dodge ranged attacks, and goes completely batshit once you get up close. He doesn't really rely on predictable combos like Gael, but instead mixes it up with a dozen different singular attacks stringed together, meaning you almost never know when it's safe to attack or heal.
You dodged into an explosion.
His ranged attacks are telegraphed pretty easily.
>the hunter started the dodge animation on the exact same frame that the projectile exploded.
Doesn't look like that to me. Are you sure there are i-frames during the whole dodge from beginning to finish?
I had the scan of the official guide somewhere.
There were some frame data (definitely for weapons, not sure about dodges) so I'll try checking.
Well, when I say "Ranged attacks" I actually mean "attacks that he can hit you with even though there's a big gap between you and him" attacks like and the lightning thing. He can also jump across pretty much the entire map and splash you with placenta juice, and he has a few Artorias-esque jumping attacks too if I recall. My point is that being far away from him does not mean you're safe, which is pretty stressful.
Let's compare it to Gael. He has a crossbow attack that can be dodged by just walking to the side, and he has that shitty white corona attack where you literally only press the dodge button once. Gael is only dangerous up close, and even then his attacks are a lot more forgiving than Orph's
>RRRRAAAAAAGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
>what did he mean by this?
get off his beach normie reeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
>the womb is too cold and smells of squid
>vagina is slimy
>my fucking placenta is made of metal
>that fuck in the steampunk attire looks like he wants to start some trouble
>can't even look at the moon without getting disturbed
that's about it
I feel like venting about BB. After playing DS2 and bring convinced BB is some kind of masterpiece
>every area looks the same
>way too many grab moves that ruin the fun of the game
>BB equivalent of phantoms are just damage sponges with way too much health
>bosses are clusterfuck aoe spamming, can't see what's going on because of the over the top effects
>sound effects are all fucked up especially noticeable since i play with headphones
>confusing to navigate because everywhere looks the same
>grinding potions when you die
Can't wait to finish it so i can move onto DS3
>grinding potions
I fucking hate you people.
>so i can move onto DS3
hahahaha
yea when will these casuals learn that BB is horribe? BB literally has no plot.
Dark Souls 3 re-uses so much of Bloodborne's mechanics and ideas because Bloodborne is a better game, and it's also THE best FromSoft game to date.
Prove me wrong.
In phase1 if you're at a medium/nearby distance from him and he uses the jump towards you-move, immediately stop moving and start a charge attack (and make sure you have camera lock on). He will jump over you and you can land the charge attack right on his back and follow up with a visceral.
Ok
DS = DS2 > DS3 = BB
...
Everything about this fight is made for you to panic, and the boss is only hard if you panic. Quite well thought, desu
>Shrine of Amana
Look, if you're playing the PC version, you always get the casual versions of Souls.
Get it for PS3/360 and play on 1.0.
Let's see if you still like the Shrine of Amana.
DaS2 is good, just the weakest entrry in the series, which is what DaS2 fags don't want to accept which then lead to the critcism getting harsher.
>Herald > Doll
Heresy
Ludwig is somewhat intimidating
Nice video. I didn't know you can shot almost every move in second form. I loved the clash at 3:04
>warping from the start
>blood vials
>relatively spammy combat
Dark Souls of the best.
>confusing to navigate
Lel
...
when you're helping someone fight him in coop this attack is easy as sin to dodge, but yeah when you're hosting / fighting Orphan in your own world it is hard as fuck to get out of the way.
>that final parry at the end
You lucky motherfucker
literally git gud, dont summon it will ruin the experience
>
Fight him out in the water. There is less crap to get stuck on, and in phase 2 when he does his lightning attack you have more time to dodge it, and the spaces between bolts grows significantly larger the more distance it travels.
His openings are pretty clear in phase 1, and he can be parried quite reliably if need be. Best way I've found to deal with phase 2 is to try and just burn him as fast as possible before I get hit with some bullshit that 1 shots me.
hunters killed him in the real world for his umbilical cord, while slaughtering a village that worshipped his mum
If I were a snail person I would worship him too, the magnificent bastard
>accidnetal kino moment
m.youtube.com
Lucky bastard
Something similar happened to me.
I defeated orphan on my first try, but I ran out of blood vials, managed to quickly open the inventory and use a iosefka vial I still had.
