Used to be if you wanted to breach reinforced walls, you HAD to run Thermite (and possibly Thatcher alongside that). Now you can run Hibana or Thermite, or even both.
Room clearing used to be a specific Fuze job. Now Ying can do a decent job of flashing and clearing a room like no one's business.

Basically, it gives you options and alternatives. Also, Hibana still doesn't beat Thermite except against Mira.

UbiCuck tends to try to ruin their games in the DLC because you already paid them. In Rainbow Six Siege most of the DLC characters are female. The stupid thing about that is that it's marketed as a realistic tactical shooter, however in the worlds special forces there are almost no women at all, most countries still don't even allow women to serve in combat roles.

as i said before, you will rarely need two large holes, one will do on almost every site. hibana can open a hole into the objective and then go open two hatches, or she can open one big hole, or a few little holes, or three hatches, thermite is limited, slower and has much worse guns. a pocket smg is better than a pistol, a big reason smoke is picked so much is for his smg-11 sidearm, which is essentially what hibana gets.

3 speed is NOT down to player preference, its outright better in every way. being faster in a game about twitch reactions and peeking round corners makes all the difference. theres no benefit to being slower and the "armour" rating means exactly jack shit when rng plays a huge factor and every headshot is an instakill. next youre going to tell me that rate of fire isnt the most important factor when picking a gun and that lmgs are fine.
