It's not even that the gameplay will be bad. It will probably be decent. It's just that they took the unique aspects out from the game. It just feels like any old hack and slash now. Why not play some other hack and slash

it sort of makes sense. I mean, when you see another hunter with a certain set of armor, you assume they've hunted that monster to get that armor. transmog could fuck that all up. low skill players could be walking around with crazy armor and you'd think they were good

Wut? Generally such systems require you to actually have acquired the crazy armor yourself before you can use it, so no.The point is to let you replace ugly high-end armor with weaker stuff you prefer the look of. Not letting you do that defeats the entire purpose.

alright, you guys have a point. I think we still need more details on how the system in world will work but it'll probably work like you guys are describing in which case I have no fucking idea why they decided to only partially implement it. maybe so everyone isn't wearing the same badass armor

I hope the way this plays out is this layered shit they're talking about applies to a few sets of nice-looking armor that has useful versions throughout the game, but it still strikes me as retarded to have a pseudo-fashion system that doesn't work for everything in a game where stat crafting is so central to player advancement.

As in the way player advancement comes in the form of farming progressively better equipment rather than gaining internal levels with stats. If you only partially cover the equipment with this new system such that players have to ignore it for the good stuff, it's a waste of everyone's time.

While you are completely right MonHun is probably the kind of game which would be affected the least by that.

Nothing is extremely hard to get. It's not a game where you go "wow" because someone has a specific piece of armor. It's not an MMO where some shared boss spawn one a week for a whole server and chance to get the rare item is below 10%.

Even full S-Ranking Arena on MH4U wasn't that difficult. For everything else you could just be garbage and leech anyway or play 4 players online and be super conservative / barely do anything and still get loots.
