What are they up to? Are they so ashamed and embarrassed that they're letting the company die?

Where did they go wrong? Was YL a flop solely because Gregg Mayles (who is basically Banjo-Kazooie's main creator,) wasn't on the team?
They removed the Jontron cameo and the fans rated the game with low scores.
The maps are too big so it feels boring and empty. As a result, it's just not fun to play.
There was a pretty big patch for some tweaks and fixes a month or two after release but they haven't said a word since. They haven't even added the promised n64 filter and the secret from the toybox demo still gives you nothing.
I'm really curious what's going on about the DLC we're supposed to be getting. Have they said anything about it since release?
To this day I still can't believe that JT has opinions, it's fucking disgusting. How can anyone accept that?
Yooka, Laylee, and pretty much the entire cast feels like it was created on a whim to go with the only idea they had, i.e. a BK clone. There isn't really any memorable design, and the main characters themselves lack the appeal or staying power that make BK enjoyable, even the rap states "a lizard and a bat, what's up with that?", only that question is being asked by the audience
Working on the Switch port, last they said.
They are working on the switch port. The other ports were done by a third party.
This figure was released.
The level design is pretty bad. The last two worlds feel particularly poor, with the space one being a jumbled mess of floating islands and warp tubes.
>was released
Actually I think it has yet to be released. Backers get a discount.
switch version when
Anyone else enjoyed the size of the levels? I love exploring. I loved DK64 too.
He didn't speak like a top voted reddit comment
It needed more than just Gregg.
You never realize just how essential good level design is to a collectathon platformer until....well until Yooka-Laylee happens. A casino world and Pirate/Space world are fantastic ideas, but because the level designs sucked, it didn't matter. Whatever potential they had was ruined.
And the shipping gost is triple the cost of the actual statue
The size wouldn't be bad if it wasn't barren for the most part
*shipping cost
The size of the worlds wasn't the problem. It's that there was nothing to do and all the NPCs felt disconnected.
This game was a huge disappointment in every way, not mighty no 9 tier but not too far from it either
Games take years to make. YL was done too fast in fact. It's way to early to say they are letting the company die.
Shit level design and grunting. Mechanics are fine for the most part but with those maps, the game is just bad.
Hate bandwagon.
t. backer
>make a successor to a hugely nostalgic fan-favorite 3D platformer
>on fucking Unity
What were you honestly expecting?
>Where did they go wrong?
They used Unity.
basically this. JT got the ball rolling and lukewarm reception sealed the deal. People like Dunkey shitting on it didn't help either.
A Hat in Time handled the Jon Tron thing far more intelligently. Also their not using Unity was a good idea.
They had to use unity in the beginning because it was cheap and easy to program for. They didn't expect the kickstarter to explode the way it did, and they couldn't switch to a new engine at the point lest they'd have to start from scratch again.
Collectathons were always a shit genre and YL is shit at even being that.
unity wasn't the problem
the team was a bunch of artists who didn't work on the game it was meant to be a spiritual successor to
it's obvious they didn't know what to do so they just threw in a bunch of random "rare" shit like a rap from DK64 and minecarts from fucking DKC
Yahtzee shat on it
I backed YL and then only played it for two hours. I can't even put my finger on why it was bad. I was telling myself it was good while actually playing, but then there was never the desire to start the game more than twice.
>Yahtzee shat on it
A ton of people did
>but this one e-celeb literally changed everyone's opinion
No
> Sup Forums loves Cuphead ( MADE WITH UNITY FEATURED OF THE YEAR )
>Sup Forums hates Yokailaylee (MADE WITH UNITY HATED OF THE YEAR)
really makes you think
2D games hide a lot of the Unity bullshit, but it's still there if you plan on playing the games on a toaster that usually runs non-Unity 2D games.
Unity in 2D mode is literally unity 3d with some settings disabled DURING DEVELOPMENT, holy shit. Read before posting

They promised a spiritual succesor of Banjo
And they gave us a chinese knock off of Banjo
The only thing Jon did wrong was frame verifiably true information poorly so density could appeal to his audience of emotional children with WHOA THATS RACIST DOG. He got blown the fuck out by Sargon later when after 30 minutes of saying "I didn't make it a race thing, JonTron insisted on making it a race thing" framed his entire argument around race and how dumb niggers are too stupid to be married and pool their earnings despite overwhelming evidence pointing that it's a class issue.
JonTron got more subscribers out of the deal as well so the social justice committee can go eat a dick (female)
Is that you?
