Why do pc gamers love steam

Why do pc gamers love steam

Skyrim porn mods.

easy, fully adaptable platform that hosts all your games

No online fee

this
plus sales are frequent and you can usually get incredibly good titles for dirt cheap

The only other options are Origin and the Miscrosoft store.

very convenient to have all your games in one place

It's got a bunch of convenient features like auto updating, being able to just redownload the files you need if your game files get corrupted, it keeps track of your time played, among other things. Plus the only alternatives are garbage since most games don't come DRM free these days.

The same reason that niggers love your mom.

It's cheap and easy.

But all my games are in one place already, my PC.

Its the only convenient retailer on PC. I'd love to use GOG but not many publishers put their games on GOG because of piracy.

completely clean and awesome energy source with a great aesthetic

>clean
Depends on how you make the steam. Burning coal is bad while nuclear isn't.

>muh sales
>muh community
>all muh gaems in one place
Steam is getting to the point it becomes monopoly if it's not too late, well it's too late , i just wish that one day Gabe just pulls the plug.

whats a good misaka game?

>Single location to easily store your PC games
>Can download your games on any PC
>Can easily add, communicate with, and invite friends to games
>Steam sales are better than any other store's sales
>No better alternative

you forgot gog

there is this cool fighting one that I saw her in

Some people play new games and not just abandonware and CDPR games.

It's a product of the free market, so it's the most unrestrained platform for video-game to be bought, played, and sold on.

what cool fighting game did you see her in?

Hella convenient. I don't need to store all the games on my HDD and I have them available any time I want them. It might be more expensive than piracy, but I don't have time to play so many games that it would be a problem, additionally I play tons of indie games and I like to support devs whose games I like, since it will help them make another game I'd probably like (Supergiant hasn't let me down yet).

Question:
I want to download my Steam games, copy them to one of my externals and being able to play them on another computer without Steam. Is that possible?
I'm aware I can just grab a torrent from your usual piracy website but I would rather have the Steam one, with all the patches.

>I don't need to store all the games on my HDD and I have them available any time I want them
>I like to have my purchases stored at gabenstein servers in (((united states)))
the state of modern men

Some games allow you to but most big games don't. It's on a game by game basis depending on if the devs implemented the DRM or not. For instance I could play GTAIV without Steam. It had GFWL but that was easy to get rid of.

>I want to download my Steam games, copy them to one of my externals and being able to play them on another computer without Steam. Is that possible?
No. Steam is required because of online checks

I see.
So, is pirating the game, rip off the crack and apply it to my Steam copy the only option?

it's the most reasonable way of playing steam games, unless you care about letting others know your progress and play hours

And others play good games.

>CDPR
>good games

This is actually the most retarded argument in favour of steam I've ever heard. I honestly can't understand why so many people say this.
Do you not realise that if you put shortcuts to all your games in a folder you will have them all in one place? Do you think that you have to have them in seperate folders spread across multiple hard drives if it weren't for steam or something?

Not really. I just want to be able to play the games I paid for if / when Valve goes out of business and Steam is no more.

Of course; that's why they go to Steam.

>Kuroko is playable
Why don't I have this yet?

>Paying for Abandonware, regardless of being sold by GOG or Steam

The original developers aren't getting a single cent
The money isn't funding new, similar games.
The only thing that money does is going to the license holder's pocket

Just pirate them instead of being a faggot.

it's convenient and cheap.

For example Prey on Steam is 39$ now, no sale.
In my local store Prey goes for 79$.

I think it's pretty obvious where I'm going to buy...

Why is she so fat?

Biribiri a cute!

Steam is supposed to bring the easiness of the console experience to pc. You dont even have to bother installing the game in an appropriate directory or anything, steam does it for you.

There's not a guaruntee the game will work on your machine, but generally speaking installing games has gotten way easier. The complete lack of manual set up provided by steam furthers this.

And it's already been said but they do have a lot of good sales. Combine that with not having to leave your house to physically buy a game, not having to wait for it to be shipped, and putting access to the store on the same platform that you access games from, a shortcut for which is likely on the desktop or toolbar of a computer, meaning you're subliminally constantly seeing instant access to your games plus more games, it's easy to see why the steam platform has been so successful.

I know plenty of people who kind of wanted to play a game they own but didnt because it would require bothering with a console. Honestly, steam has made gaming equally, if not more, accessible on pc than it is on consoles. The failure of console makers to understand that console owners prioritize simplicity and immediacy (when it's not just brand loyalty anyway) is a big factor in this. An even bigger factor is that the computer has become the central hub of all personal entertainment, plenty of people are already on their computer when they decide to play a videogame, so of course the games on that steam shortcut are the easiest ones to get to.

Im kind of repeating myself at this point but yeah. Also, while they arent as prevalent as they used to be valve fanboys were pretty dedicated to the company, and requiring steam to play...whatever game it launched with, i don't remember but I think it was halflife 2, provides a bigger install base than a hated company like EA could get with its online platform.

I'm making steam sound nefarious, and honestly it is, but I use it. Good deals and convenience are nice.

because 90% of PC games have been locked to Steam for 7 years now, the Stockholm syndrome is in full effect
